That is rough. It looks like they overworked the skin. At this point I’d dry heal and hope for the best. I wouldn’t go back to that person.
-
The ink goes UNDER the skin, you can’t wash it off. See your artist about a touch up.
-
4-6 weeks to heal, longer if it was really rough.
-
Can’t see it. It doesn’t matter. The person you should be consulting with is the artist doing the cover up.
-
If it's not hot, painful and/or oozing, just let it heal. You had some really rough scabs and they take time. They take as long as they take.
-
For the love of God don’t go back to that person; that’s really rough.

How old is it? Tattoos take 4-8 weeks to heal.

That should have been part of the design of the dragon. WTF was he thinking putting the dragon’s head an inch from the paw print? Maybe a demon? I’d look in tattoo books for something that goes with a dragon in the sky. Or maybe a skull cloud, or a cloud made out of skulls. I’d find a new artist if he can only think of one idea for a cover up. I’ve never had a cover up, but I’ve been in the shop when people come in to talk and my guy usually has three or four ideas as soon as he looks at it.

Find an artist who’s work you like. No need to pay some scamming scribbler for a drawing that probably won’t work as a tattoo anyway. Any reputable shop will have tons of flash and if you want a custom tattoo I doubt you’ll find someone good that will tattoo someone else’s custom drawing on you,

Read up on tattoo regret before you go all the way. The good news is that it goes away, but you should know about it so you don't freak if you get it. I've never had it so I can't help you with it.
-
Yup, that's bad and will probably take longer to heal. So? Get it touched up if needed.

Tattoos you can't hide IS a big step. I decided to get a sleeve for my first tattoo, so I didn't ease into it. I've always worn my sleeves rolled up, so it was just not there one day, there the next. The few job interviews I've had since getting the tattoos, I wear my sleeves rolled up. They might as well know right from the start. I don't really have any advice, you just get used to it.
-
Yet you said you need advice ASAP. What's the hurry?

This is a disaster waiting to happen. People who rush into tattoos often wind up with shit tattoos. First, three inches is too small, it will look like a scribble. Second, the simpler the tattoo, the better the artist you need because they have to be exact. You can’t walk into the first shop you see and get the first artist available. Put on the brakes and think this through. And do your homework finding a good artist. Good artists usually have waiting lists, you can’t just walk in.

First, take allergy off the table. The number of people actually allergic to ink is tiny. Yes, some people are more sensitive to some colors or brands, but actually allergies are rare. If it's still oozing at 8 days, I'd let it dry heal from here. Just wash it a couple of times a day and don't put anything on it. Tattoos take 4-8 weeks to heal.

Questions about getting a custom tattoo designed
Hogrider replied to Asthma Inhaler Jim's topic in Tattoo Advice
If it's not hot, oozing, has an unpleasant oder or painful, you're fine. As @oboogie said, you're drowning it. Let it dry heal now. Try to forget it for the next four weeks. You'll be fine. -
It's common to regret a new tattoo. Give it a couple of months. If you decide to "fix" it, find a good artist, don't pay for a design.
-
Time to find a new artist. I would NOT give them another shot. it needs to be fixed. I'd wait a couple of months for it to fully heal first.

Questions about getting a custom tattoo designed
Hogrider replied to Asthma Inhaler Jim's topic in Tattoo Advice
What do you think is "custom" about handing him a picture and telling him I want this image, this size, right here? You're not asking for a custom design, you're asking him to copy an existing image. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's not a "custom" design. Given how unhappy you were with your last tattoo, I'd just be really specific about what you are looking for. You can go back and read my answer to your last thread if you're interested. -
Do you like my tattoo also are tattoo blues normal?
Hogrider replied to allieesaur's topic in Initiation
I like the one on your knee, but you probably shouldn't have gotten the word "sad" tattooed on your ass. -
Did you read the post about Nizoral at the top of the page? I'd start there; it's cheap and easy to try. @oboogie is right though, we're not doctors. I've been lucky, but I've heard that a lot of doctors have a negative bias towards tattoos. That may be why there's the "too bad, you're stuck with it attitude." When the dermatologist didn't prescribe anything and told you it's a granuloma, did you ask any questions? I'm not trying to be a dick, but stand up for yourself and take a little initiative. It took me literally two seconds to find this article - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/granuloma-annulare/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20351323. That's where I'd start. Sorry, but not sticking up for yourself is one of my pet peeves. I had a friend that was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. His doctor told him to stop exercising and stay off it. I just about exploded. I told him to tell the doctor that that was unacceptable and what were his options. He wound up getting anti-inflammatories and physical therapy. It healed much faster and didn't reoccur, which would almost certainly have happened if he's just stopped using it until it was better and went right back to what he was doing before. YOU are responsible for your medical treatment, nobody else.

It takes six to eight weeks to heal. Didn’t your artist talk about the healing process??
-
OK, the ass-clown getting a tattoo of a nobody rapper on his FACE calling other people immature. You are the reason the ignore list was made, welcome to mine. As to your original question, it will hurt like F***. Tattoos hurt. tattoos on thin skin over bone hurt even more. This is just one of the many reasons you don't get a big honking face tattoo as your FIRST tattoo. Why stop yourself from doing something stupid?
