  1. As Mark Twain said, The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
  2. Is this site a joke? I can't believe anyone would get a tattoo from someone who showed that work.
  3. Do you mean like B-Tat, or Al Fliction (aka All Fiction)?
  4. If I walked into a shop and everyone had a uniform, I would walk back out. Next thing you know they'll be saying, "Do you want fries with that tattoo?"
  5. No Problem. I'm watching the annoying bitch. Saw episode 2 last night. Am I the only one that thinks Joe Capobianco looks like "Big Boy?" Big Boy Restaurants | Home of the Original Double Decker
  6. Jesse Tseronis in Winchester, VA is really good. I love his Japanese work. He's a great guy, real easy to work with. Jesse Tseronis | Facebook. He's currently doing a sleeve for me.
  7. Some doosh bag on another forum had a thread titled something about getting tatted up. Somebody must be watching reruns of NY Ink.
  8. What do you mean? She said she's all business in the front and a party in the back. Does that mean she's a prostitute, but does anal for fun??? I HATE twits.
  9. He should start saving for the laser removal and cover up right away since it will be pretty expensive.
  10. I don't know if I would say you pissed anyone off, but your first post definitely sounded like price was your primary concern, while I think that most people on this forum would be concerned about quality first and price second. Further on in the thread it looks like you have money for your toys, but not your tattoo. Then this last post is about 100% turnaround from your first - you walk into the shop not concerned about cost. It seems like your story has changed quite a bit from your original post. Just my 2 cents.
  11. Jessee Tseronis from Sakura Tattoo in Winchester, VA. He just nails the Japanese style. I love his work. He's very laid back and super easy to work with. We talked about what I wanted and he came up with ideas that I had never even considered.
  12. I'm kind of late to the game getting my first tattoo in my 50's. After bringing my artist some initial ideas, I wound up scrapping all of them and going with his recommendation. I'm working on a sleeve and my only parameters are Japanese theme. Everything else is up to him. Of course, I saw a lot of his sleeves before I chose him and I haven't seen one that I wouldn't wear myself. t think he's going to kill this.
  13. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm getting a full sleeve as my first tattoo for several reasons, not necessarily, in this order; First I like the look of a sleeve, Second I found an artist who has done some killer sleeves, Third I'm 54 and want to get tattooed while I'm still in good health, financially able and have good skin. I'm doing the sleeve in sections and just had the outline of the first section done. Just thought of the forth reason - I'm an anal retentive who is obsessed with symmetry and thematic continuity. :-)
  14. I would definitely ask. I can't imagine that many people would say no. I would get a release signed at the time, just in case. The idea of old pics of the tattoo and new pics sounds like a great idea for a book. How about getting the story of where, when and why they got the tattoo. I can't imagine you would have problems selling that book, although it may never make the New York Times best seller list.
  15. I'm not a tattoo artist, but I do have a strong marketing background and you have to not only know who your market is, but who your market isn't. It is people who want a quality tattoo and it's not people who only care about price. You'll never really get that market because there is always someone who will do it cheaper. I think hgiles has a great idea. Why not put together a portfolio of really bad tattoo and mediocre tattoos and then when people try to haggle show them the portfolio and say something like, "This is what you can get for the price you are trying to pay. If you want quality work, this is what I charge." You'll lose some, but you'll keep others. I would also talk about the time, pain and expense of cover-ups. Good luck. It's too bad people don't appreciate art. I looked for over a year for my artist when I finally decided to get a tattoo and I never asked about price.
  16. I know. When they are talking about the people on the show, they are canvases, every other time they are referred to as clients. I guess that's their "hook."
  17. I'm sure Billy's constant arguing, eye rolling, head shaking, and excuses didn't help. He did get some sucky clients, I mean canvases, but you play the hand you're dealt.
  18. I got my first tattoo yesterday. Sat from 11:00 to 3:00 (he drew it on freehand first) and we just did the outline. It's the first part of a Japanese themed sleeve. It's a Koi with a dragon head. I go back for color and the outline for the next piece the first of April. Unfortunately my artist is booked about 6-8 weeks in advance. I guess it just gives my old skin more time to heal between sittings.
