  1. I downloaded and read part of it. A medical-Toxicological view of tattooing my ass. In the introduction it says 50% of people who get tattoos regret it. I've never seen a number that high. 20% of inks are contaminated, but only 1-5% get infections? In Germany 68% of tattooed people reported complications? My tattoo itches, I'm infected, allergic, having a reaction! Typical of all of these type of articles I've read. Lots of judgment, innuendo and conjecture, few, if any, actual facts. Lots of assertions with little or no basis in fact. I've said it before, with the 10's of millions of people being tattooed and many HEAVILY tattooed, if there was an actual problem, we'd be seeing it.
  2. I would suspect that people get imagery tattooed on themselves all the time that they don't have a full understanding of. Unless the image bothered me I wouldn't have a problem with it.
  3. Unfortunately the contestants have discovered that by being obnoxious assholes, they get more screen time. As long as it works, they'll continue to do it. I'm not sure why someone thinks it's good to be famous for being a butthole, but that's the new reality.
  4. Last tattoo - 5 days ago. I finally finished my 2nd sleeve. Nothing cures my desire for a tattoo like getting a tattoo. I'm kind of tired of healing them. I've been working on three big projects, going almost monthly for the last several years so I'm really ready for a break.
  5. Try reading their sources: http://www.nowtheendbegins.com - self proclaimed magazine of record for the last days About Chemistry: Chemistry Instruction, Projects, and Periodic Tables - about.com says it all anybody can post anything Wiley Online Library - I don't know WTF this is Live Science: Scientific News, Articles and Current Events - cites the dermatologist from the original article, basically using yourself for a reference Breaking News and Opinion on The Huffington Post - another article that cites the dermatologist in the original article Science or not? | Separating science from nonsense - a blog by someone with no significant credentials, but says, "I have to withhold judgement in this case. On the positive side, I couldn’t find any evidence that tattoo pigments are responsible for serious harm." Further, according to the FDA's Arkansas-based National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), research chemist Paul Howard, Ph.D, "There have been no systematic studies of the safety of tattoo inks." If you read through this nonsense, it is basically saying, "We don't know anything for sure, can't prove anything, haven't done any studies, but bad shit could happen."
  6. Not that every tattoo in the new season was a gem, but it's the best field they've had since the first season. The last couple of seasons, people were still getting awful tattoos right up until the end. The funniest part was the guy that walked off and wouldn't get a tattoo. He said he has limited space. I'm sitting there thinking, "You have limited space so you go on a show to get a tattoo from someone you don't know, have never heard of, in episode one where all the worst tattooers are still on?" Not exactly a rocket scientist.
  7. I love the way she talks about being able to get the tattoo lazered like it's nothing. "Oh yea, I'll just go in and get this tattoo lazered off while I drink my Latte. One easy session and no one will know I every had one." Also funny the way she seems to equate three little tattoos with being heavily tattooed. And how she gives her cousin a pass for not tattooing her neck, but gets all snotty and shitty when Dan won't do it. I think this woman has mental problems.
  8. Wow, I knew Australia was upside down from looking at a map, but I didn't know they were backwards too!
  9. New season gearing up. I saw a couple of examples of the 'art' on Facebook. Some of it was just too awful. Apparently there is a spinoff which will allow people who got those abominations get them fixed. How bad is that when you have a show planned to fix the shit tattooed by some of the 'best tattooers in America?' What is REALLY fucked up is that I watch that crap!!!!
  10. Darn Right! And they shouldn't go to the movies, have a cell phone, computer, internet access, go to a bar, buy a magazine, buy a newspaper, or even a stick of gum either. Just bread and water!! This younger generation has gotten soft.
  11. I put both my sleeves on my arms! My artist said that was the best place for them. :-)
  12. I get a lot of stares from kids. Sometimes they just look, sometimes they smile.
  13. I didn't get my first tattoo until my 50's. My first was a sleeve and chest panel, then a full back piece, then the other sleeve and chest. It all healed without incident. I think you are on the right track - forget about your age. - - - Updated - - - And we can afford quality work!
  14. It's only too fast if it's too fast for you. My first tattoo was a sleeve / chest piece; second was a back piece; third other sleeve / chest piece. All in about three and a half years. I keep telling myself that when my current sleeve is done, I'm done. HAHAHAHAHAH
  15. Good. luck. One thing I've learned is that a non-artist will never understand an artist. I'm a musician and my wife is an artist and it works out great. My last wife, a bean counter, not so much. They may tolerate or accept, but they will never understand.
  16. I missed the Christmas special, but the New Years special was mostly All Fiction and Gentile Jay running their mouths. All Fiction didn't even get the irony in him saying, "You haven't seen the last of All Fiction" as he was being the first person cut.
  17. I wonder if Oliver and Dave's contracts have that clause ... NOT!
  18. Poetic Justice. Josh, who said he would use any means possible to win gets eliminated for smoking a little weed. The sniveling and crying at the end was really weak. Well, this is why whenever someone says, "I'm not here to make friends" I think "what an asshole." You may not be there to make friends, but I don't see any benefit to making enemies.
  19. Too bad they can't send more than one artist home. But then the show would only be about three weeks long! Half would go home on pin-up day, most of the rest would go home on Japanese day.
  20. Thanks! It peeled, but it wasn't too bad. I have to admit that I've been extraordinarily lucky when it comes to healing.
  21. just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't consider a dry heal on the elbow. I healed this with no problems and no scabbing. I washed it a couple of times a day and put A&D or Coco Butter on it 3 times a day, just enough to keep it from drying out.
