  1. Jesse stopped in to our shop a month or 2 ago & sold his book to me & another guy here. He reminisced about working there for a sec and copied some of our flash that he plans to make new paintings of. Can't wait to see how they look.
  2. INKSMITH & ROGERS Just take a look at the artists, regardless of location, and decide what you think works for you.
  3. Me too. Wish I could participate. After moving from state to state and different apts all over town each time, I have reduced my library to less than 5% of what it used to be (outside of art reference and tattoo books of course). It was at the point of 10 beer case sized boxes that were like a boxes of rocks of just my fiction/nonfiction. Add to that 2 bookshelves worth of art books & magazines. It was ridiculous. All I have left are 1st editions and what I have bought since then. Felt good to donate all of the rest to public libraries.
  4. Rad. Its too bad I dont see myself being in Portland at any point ever. Always wouldve loved to get something weird by him.
  5. baffled by this also. This speaks volumes for your level of art appreciation and artists themselves.
  6. My experience with customers that are extremely unhappy with work they have that is beyond repair/cover-up is that less than 1% are patient enough to get laser removal. When they start to learn about the pain level it is a deterrent, but what really discourages most of them is that it's not a one-shot thing. The idea of having to wait 4 months between sittings, and the fact that it will probably take more than 6 sessions, is what steers all of them away from it. So, no I don't think the laser dudes are gonna be rich.
  7. Exactly. Telling someone they have bad tattoos is in extremely poor taste even if they bash them themselves. Just put on good tattoos. Besides, most good tattooers I know have at least a couple of shitty tattoos. It's practically a job prerequisite. Agreed again! With a slight modification, you just described one of my good friends that I used to work with. Every time I visit him at the shop he's at now all he does is trash other artists in town, skilled or not, people he's met or not, and compares the work he currently doing to them. A good friend, but one of the negative people I know. Ironically, he talks all this buddhist shit and acts like other people cant get on his level of being at one with the world blah blah. And yeah, whenever I visit him he's never working on anything lol.
  8. Thats the same guy who thinks a man with a flower tattoo is gay. People are just douches, thats all.
  9. I always thought the same as well. 2 animals is eagle vs snake or whatever.
  10. Earlier this month was the Ice Plant art show celebrating the oldest (municiple) skatepark in the us, and some buddies of mine did a pull-a-trick-out-of-the-hat (literally put paper notes in a hat) and paint whatever you picked out. My friend Adam Stab grabbed Stalefish.
  11. It doesnt seem to me like you're trying to cover your hands or fingers. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a bunch of tattoos on your forearm. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If there's any concern about work or your profession, then put on a long sleeve shirt and hold your arm straight up in the air. Make a note of where the shirt cuff falls to and dont go any furthur down than there.
  12. That looks absolutely crazy. Good for you! I dont think I could do it.
  13. She doesnt remember the name of the artist that did it. Being an installation, it was not painted over during a recent make-over for the filming of a movie recently like some of the other paintings were. Adam Hawthorne had an old one in there that was painted over though.
  14. Tattoo infections linked to bad ink never heard of this stuff, but I bet Catfish is never gonna live this one down.
  15. Those are probably best used as paperweights.
  16. I know the painting you mean (and it's pretty rad) but I'm not sure. I'll ask a friend that used to work there when it was the Velvet Elvis, she might know.

  19. Do what you feel man, good for you. If you have a vision quest of where you're going, then do it. I'll bet that if you contact Grime or Aaron and tell them whats going on they could help you find the proper buyer, and for the right price.
  20. zach & clay are solid tattooers. and thanks for the mention Jallen! - - - Updated - - - For Charleston I recommend Dennis Hickman @ Iron Lotus, and Jason @ Holy City
