  1. Beer can be very inspiring. I don't want to derail the thread any further though.
  2. Ha cool. Is going to extend down the ass? It looks pretty complete as is.
  3. @Ragen looks good, who is doing it? I go on Monday for my final session of the year.
  4. @MrToby I've wanted a Kirin on my opposite thigh for a long time to balance my Baku. It's awesome that you have done the same.
  5. Like others have said, it depends on how you normally heal and location. The area around my arm pit took forever to heal because of friction. I found that that wrapping it to avoid excess skin-skin friction helped a great deal. And that's for a large scale tattoo. If you get something small, I would imagine you could workout the next day. I find that sweat burns a fresh tattoo, but other than that, it doesn't seem to have negative healing effects. Honestly it sounds like you have a harder hurdle to get over after being off for so long. Doesn't sound like you'll be hitting the gym super hard from the get-go so I doubt you have anything to worry about. Especially if all you want to do is start out with cardio.
  6. I'm just going to leave this here. imgur: the simple image sharer
  7. Well it looks I'm going to start following Chad Koeplinger on IG now. Woohoo! That back looks amazing.
  8. Damn, pugilist should shave her legs. Must be like going to bed with a yeti.
  9. I spent 10 minutes looking for it too. I'm pretty sure you are talking about the image that Richard Stell's son has on his stomach? If I remember that correctly. This is the best I could find. Instagram
  10. The part right near the arm pit where the arm meets the upper back. My whole lat feels bruised...again. @semele at least you didn't go full bear.
  11. Really? I tried doing that but the only subtitle option I saw was Japanese.
  12. Definitely needs more black on the inner thigh and butt, same on the other side. Dana just says he likes to skip "the final black session" and get started on color to keep us both enthused and excited to keep up this progress. Next appointment is Dec 9th.
  13. Thank you taaarro. I kind of assumed that's what it meant, but it's nice to have it confirmed. I've seen a couple other peach pictures on his Instagram too, so I figured it was significant.
  14. Thank you gentlemen and all the others who liked it. I guess this would be my 6th session.
  15. @taaarro Also if you don't mind explaining, what is the significance of the peach?
  16. Another session down with Dana, picture stolen from his IG of course.. Next session is color! The fundoshi massacre.
  17. Wow thank you for clarifying some of that!
  18. Now that the secret is out that you understand Japanese, you're going to have to translate the whole thing for us. Consider it your LST due diligence.
  19. No no, Sorry I don't mean to get your hopes up. I haven't heard anything. I'm just assuming that another book like it will come out eventually.
  20. That would definitely be an amazing one to own some day. I'm banking on being in the sequel with ironchef and moisttowelette. I do believe Dana has a suit in it.
  21. Holy shit I just came up with a great Halloween costume. If you do have full sleeves, you could just put sheer stockings over them and pretend to have the fake sleeve things on.
  22. Thanks for the input guys. And dammit I saw that documentary in the other section, what a tease those subtitles aren't English.
  23. I'm going to ask some stupid questions, but first are there any good documentaries, books, or other media where I can learn more about Japanese tattooing that anyone can recommend? I have gleaned a lot from this forum alone, but I just want to learn more. You might think that since I have a back piece, and I'm eventually working toward a body suit, that I would know more than what I really do. When it comes to family tattooing, for example "the Horitoshi family", are they legitimate family, or is it sort of an honorary title for being an apprentice? And when does the Horitoshi name get passed down? Does Horitoshi 1 bestow it on his death bed? Retirement? Will there ever be a Horitoshi 2, or a Horiyoshi 4?
  24. Dana Helmuth has returned from Nepal and I get to go under the gun for more work on Tuesday. He seems to be super inspired after his trip, so I hope to tackle as much black work as possible and get on to some color while he is feeling extra motivated. It's going to be a long day, but I can say that I have been inspired by @ironchef @MoistTowelette @chrisnoluck @DevilMan 's wife and all the others blowing up the back piece thread in the last month. Also, fundoshi. :)
