Add that fool Hogg to the list!

I feel this way. He's brilliant and stupefyingly vulgar at the same time. What's not to love? Also, he was born in Mexico and lived there until he was 7. Not really the dude you'd pick as half-Mexi, but there he is.

Dan Dringenberg Tattoo Artist Interview - (sorry for the delay!)
hogg commented on Scott Sylvia's blog entry in Scott Sylvia's Interviews, Articles, and Blogs
I think he said "A trash can catches a steak once in a while," which is kinda like saying that even a broken clock is right twice a day. -
He tattooed a little portrait of James Brown (!) on my friend's shoulder blade in the late 80s. When he was done, he said, "There ya go--that's a damn fine Little Richard." Kinda freaked my friend out, but the tattoo was cool (and actually of JB, not LR).

I second Iwar's comments. Xam does stellar work, and your tattoo is no exception.

If you click on the "Tattoo Gallery" tab at the top of this page, you'll see an UPLOAD button in the upper right. It's pretty easy from there on out. If you have any questions, post them here or send me a private message.

Welcome, Captain! Feel free to post some pics of your tattoos.

Loved this episode. And man, those bonji on Troy's neck are so goddamned nice. Anyone know who did them? Aside to @Kev: nice lift! My max DL was 315, which was twice my body weight, but any time I'd pull above a certain weight, I'd round my lower back, so I gave 'em up. But trust me when I say that I know exactly how your back is feeling.

Haha, just kidding, of course. I had never heard that term until a few weeks ago, when a Canadian buddy of mine told me about a certain Newfie friend of his who was forever confusing him with local dialect.

Welcome! Very nice intro. Do you say "Where ya to?" when you answer the phone? :)
-
Welcome! We'd love to see pics of your work.

Welcome, Dylan. Are you an artist or a collector?
-
Welcome! You have work from some damn fine artists. Please add some pics so we can see 'em!

I give those bugs two thumbs up, Jade.

I think I can make it to this one! I'll keep you posted, but it would great to see familiar faces and meet a few new ones.

Damn, really nice stuff!

I find myself feeling the same way about a lot of Scott Campbell-related things. The fact that he charges $300 an hour is insane to me, but then again, he doesn't seem to be hurting for business, so I guess he wins. I'd read a few years back that he had a $1000 minimum, but I'm not sure that was true. Speaking of money to burn, he's created several pieces of art using sheets of US currency. Seems gauche to me, but again, I read about it in numerous places, so he's getting the press he wanted. He also did artwork for Camel Cigarettes, which is not that cool to me, but seemed to garner him a lot of notoriety. And while part of me thinks that he's an asshole for making this video--and tattooing someone on a nasty ass bench under conditions that would shock a Tattoo School graduate--another part of me is very impressed with the end product. And that's something I can say about many of his tattoos: they're good. Really good.

Then you've come to the wrong place. As stated in the Tattoo Newbie Guidelines thread: Do not start threads asking about specific tattooing equipment or techniques, LST is not here to teach anyone how to tattoo. Ask your own tattooer, the next time you are getting tattooed. Maybe they'll answer you, maybe they won't. Do not start threads regarding closely guarded trade secrets - this will keep LST a much more welcoming place for everyone, tattooers and enthusiasts alike. Do not start threads asking questions about "breaking into the business" of tattooing. If you do see threads like that, flag them for mods and try to ignore them until they can be deleted. We want LST to be a place that artists feel welcome, too, and those types of threads do nothing to foster that type of environment. Thanks.

It's similar to the "hot soak" method that's popular in Japan. About an hour after I get tattooed, I get the water as hot as I can stand it and either take a hot shower or soak in a hot bath for about 10 minutes. It usually hurts worse than the tattoo itself, at least at first, but the pain subsides fairly quickly. I've had great results with healing tattoos this way.

from SFgate.com "Tattoo health risks - research raises concerns"
hogg replied to MsRad's topic in WTF in the News
Sounds like typical fear mongering to me. Check out the sentence in bold below, buried way beneath the fold, of course: Just thought we'd mention that! But ya know, who wants to read an article titled, "TATTOOING IS SAFE, STUDY SAYS"?- 28 replies
