  1. Just got back from this. My wife's favorite piece was by (drum roll please) Lizzie! That was awesome! Please post a pic of it here so everyone else can appreciate it. I also saw the California condor you did on Ms. RAD in person the other night. That thing is killer. Props to Lizzie Week in SF.
  2. Big, big fan of your work, Bryan. And hey, we're both Texans! Love the interview and can't wait for the rest of it.
  3. Ms. RAD is also known as Ms. UNBELIEVABLY NICE. Jake is a very cool guy, too (which is good, as I hate it when assholes have great tattoos I'm jealous of). And of course Scott and Dari are awesome, but Scott would be much awesomer if he would embrace his inner steampunk.
  4. Great thread, Lochlan. A while back, I started this thread about Brian Kaneko. He's doing a full suit on a client and has been posting progress pics. Fantastic stuff! I have a full Japanese backpiece and one full Japanese sleeve, so I obviously have an appreciation of that style, but at the same time, I'm glad that I have the partial suit that I do. I admire people who get ONE suit in a cohesive style, but that just ain't me.
  5. I can BART to North Berkeley and cab to Picante from there. I'd say that 7:00 or 8:00 would work for me. Any time, really.
  6. Now that I look at their menu, I see that Papalote doesn't have soup or tamales. El Zocalo (El Zocalo - Bernal Heights - San Francisco, CA) has both, along with pupusas, but I'm not sure how vegetarian-friendly they are.
  7. Haha...I can walk there! Unless you mean the Fulton location. I can totally do the 24th and Valencia location. What time? And who else is in?
  8. Hey Pete, it's Ross, Carlo and Dena's friend! Yeah, I go to Black Heart a lot because those guys are world class. I also go to Temple, Spider Murphy's and (for Japanese stuff) State of Grace. Gotta love livin' in the Bay!

    You really, really do.
  10. Any LSTers going to this? I think a few artists from this community are going to have pieces there. Wifey and I will be in attendance.
  11. Congrats, Jen, and best of luck on you and Richard's new lifestyle.
  12. Haha, nice on, Avery. Shawn, those are howling Rottweilers.
  13. I lived in Austin from 1990 to 1997, so I've seen more than my share of Dave Lum tattoos. That video was a time machine for me! I was really happy to see Waldo in it at about the 8:00 mark. I met him when I was just getting my first tattoos, around 1992. He already had his hands done, which, 20 fucking years ago, was out-of-this-world insane. But every time I ran into him, which was often, we'd talk tattoos and he would just light up. Even though I was just a kid with 2 or 3 tattoos, he never condescended to me and was always cool as hell. Here's are some then-and-now pics of him with Viktor the Viking:
  14. I'd prefer East Bay, since I can BART out there after work and then get a ride home from my wife (who will be teaching at Berkeley until about 10 that night). But don't change all the plans on my behalf.
  15. March 9th is next Wednesday! Any updates on a possible Berkeley/Oakland meetup?
  16. Well, at least I'm not the first to say it. Good GOD, his tattoos were fugly, but I loved that magazine. Yes, I found his famewhoring annoying (he was almost like an early version of Kat in that way), but at the same time, those mags had several pieces in every single issue that made me stop and stare. The same cannot be said for many mags today, so yeah...begrudging props.
  17. Fantastic. There's a lot to love here, but I find myself especially drawn to the flames.
  18. Dude. Dude. Thanks so much! I'm ridiculously excited about this.
  19. Man, the peacock, panther and cross/anchor are all so goddamn TOUGH! You gotta have Jack put something like that on you, dude.

    Feast your eyes .

I've got a fair amount of that stuff jabbed into me. Chris Trevino grinds his own black sumi, as does Horitomo. Here's a pic I snapped of Horitomo prepping for my first tebori session: I'm corny, but I really felt that it added something to the whole ritual.
