  1. The correct response: "Calvin Klein. Wanna see?" And that's when you start to unbuckle your belt.
  2. Yeah! It's a fact that Aries rule the world (including my wife, my cat and myself). Happy birthday to a great guy.

    what up!

Welcome! You gotta post some pics now. :)
  4. Co-sign on using "work." I never imagined it could be taken the wrong way. Gia, if I ever see you in Whole Foods and ask who does your work, please forgive me! :)
  5. Lochlan, might it have been Diamond Club (home to Bill & Junii Salmon) or Seventh Son (home to Luke Stewart, Joey Armstrong, George Campise, Erik Rieth, and others) or Spider Murphy's (in San Rafael, home to Theo Mindell, Stuart Cripwell, Matt Howse, and others)?
  6. Any post made in celebration of Coffee gets my full endorsement.
  7. I've never referred to myself as a collector, but I've heard many other people describe me that way. The best was when I was visiting shops in Japan and artists would say, "Tattoo artist?" I'd say, "No, no, no" and they'd say, "Oh...tattoo corrector!"
  8. A tattoo shop should only and always be referred to as "Ye Olde Tattzappery."
  9. Love, love, love this place. Such a goldmine of talent, knowledge and good folks. My one request is that someone turn the tables and interview Scott. Hell, I'd be willing to do it. The interview series is nothing short of fantastic, and while I realize that it's a lot of work, I'm sure I speak for many here when I say that I want more, more, more! There are so many incredible artists in the Bay Area alone, and they all have stories to tell. Thanks again to Scott and Lochlan for creating this place.
  10. I guess I should post mine here, since I've enjoyed this thread so much: By Jill "Horiyuki" Bonny, State of Grace, San Jose, CA. You can also see my Scott Sylvia cobra on my right elbow (with my itsty-bitsy Ben Grillo spider under it), and my left arm, the upper part of which was done by Eddy Deutsche back at 222 and the lower 2/3rd of which was done by Horitomo, also at State of Grace.
  11. Done and done. Apologies to whoever had the high bid before, because I just jacked it up another 50 pounds. :) Thanks, Stewart and Valerie. This is a great project and I love the sheets.
  12. Hey Valerie, I just tried to bid on Stewart's flash sheet, but I got the following message: This seller has set buyer requirements for this item and only sells to buyers who meet those requirements. You are unable to bid on or buy this item because: The seller doesn't ship to the location where your primary shipping address is located. Note: If you are still interested in bidding on or buying this item, you may contact the seller and ask that they exempt you from any buyer requirements.

    snake back peice

@Lochlan: no, that was my arm (by Horitomo). My back was done entirely by machine. @Kyle: I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that she did not grind the black herself for this piece. Of course, I'm not a tattooer, so I can't expect her to discuss the finer professional points with me. :)

You're welcome! I figured I'd spare you the ass shot. :)

OK...just added a pic of my back. Thanks for you kind comments!

  17. By Jill "Horiyuki" Bonny, State of Grace, San Jose, CA.
  18. Haha, I got a shout-out as "the collector guy who runs around with a Horitomo tattoo." Great interview of a great artist.

    Battle Royale

Unbelievable. And this pic looks much better than the iPhone shots you posted--you can really see the black and the subtle shading in the snake.
  20. Great story, Shawn! Knowing what I know about Japanese culture, I'm willing to guess that when you reprimanded him, he was far more embarrassed than you realize. I'll also add that it took serious courage for him to approach you a second time and reveal his tattoos. Do you happen to remember who did his work? And was it traditional Japanese? I can guarantee you that his boss has never seen them!
  21. I just wanna say that I love the term "courtesy margin." I've never heard it, but I'll be sure to use it! On that note, I've had artists go right up (almost touching) another artist's work, and I've had artists go partially OVER another artist's work. Didn't bother me, though, because it was obvious that they were trying to make it all work together. As one artist said, "You should see it as one tattoo. That's the goal."
  22. Right back at you! You have a great collection (and you and I have both been tattooed by Grime, Scott Sylvia and Jeff Rassier). Welcome and tack sa mycket for posting your pictures.
