  1. Perhaps this will illuminate things a bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4SGZQ2Tuqc "So Icey" was Gucci's first big hit. It was a collab with Young Jeezy, but the two had a falling out over payment and x amount of drama ensued. Fast forward to present day and, believe it or not, Gucci is one of the biggest rappers out now. "So Icey" gave way to his trademark ad lib, "BRRR!", which can be heard over and over here: And seeing as his most recent hit was "Lemonade," I think it's safe to assume that this is a man who really appreciates summery refreshments. Boom: ice cream zap. I still prefer Yung Joc's Spongebob chillin' on the side of his head:
  2. Hahahaha! Those are great. Oh man...a treasure trove, indeed. Reminds me of a story that an old friend of mine told me. He was getting tattooed by Chris Trevino around 1991, when Chris and Sean Degan still had Perfection in San Antonio. A guy comes in with his girlfriend and says, "I want this." It's a horrible likeness of his girlfriend with the words "SWEET CHILD O' MINE." Chris says, "Yeah, I could do that, but I won't put that drawing on you. I'd fix it up first." At which time his girlfriend interrupts and says, very angrily, "No! I DREW THAT! That's how it has to be." I think they went someplace else.
  3. Not to blow up anyone's spot, but have you ever seen Freddy and Santa in the same room? Just sayin'.

    Crop Cat

You really did it? Hmm...I guess you just look different as a blonde. ;) (I know you meant to type "dig"--thanks for the compliment!) And yes, Heath is a very cool cat. When I told him my idea, he just grinned.
  5. Freddy Corbin is ordained. His official title is Cardinal of Cool, High Priest of the First Church of Oakland, Beeeeeeeyaaaaatch. Go ahead and google it if you don't believe me.
  6. There's usually a guy at the San Jose (now SFO) Convention that does the traditional tapping. The convention is always at the end of October--check horitaka.com for details closer to the date. The artist is named Aisea Toetuu and works out of Soul Signature Tattoo in Hawaii. Check him out! It would probably be a good idea to try to contact ASAP, as he always seems to be really busy at the convention. Good luck and keep us posted, please.
  7. This just in: ribs and stomach hurt. Thank god that Tim Lehi is fast (and relatively light-handed). Scott had a good laugh when he saw the stencil.
  8. Oh, indeed! As I mentioned to you via email a while back, my wife loves the way you draw noses. An odd compliment, but a sincere one. Your stuff is great--please make yourself at home here.

    devil

    So cool, Nico!
  10. Wasn't he 18 in that pic? Just unbelievable how good all his work is in that shot.
  11. Who doesn't love Freddy. Thanks so much for this interview! Can't wait for the next parts. EDIT: Ha...the interview is just like getting tattooed by Freddy in that he takes a break to grab a tea.
  12. First session is this Saturday! I'm still excited, but also a little nervous. Something tells me my eyes are gonna bug out when I see what he's drawn up. Mostly from how awesome it's gonna look, but also from how big it's probably gonna be. But fuck it--I can't wait! And Scott, you have permission to laugh at me when I'm hating life halfway through it.

    top hat skull

This whole thing is great, from the rose to the hit of red behind the skull to the cigarette holder--but the snakeskin hatband totally makes it.
  14. Unbelievable. Such a beautiful take on an absolutely classic design.
  15. Goddamn! You really get around, style-wise. This is great.
  16. Damn, Adrian! You do nice work. More pics of your Leu sleeve, please.
  17. Post pics of your roses, please. They are purty. And welcome.
  18. What in the fuck were they thinking? Juan Puente's style is so recognizable. I think it'd be painfully obvious to anyone in the know that not just any hack can pull off uber-clean tattoos like his.
  19. This is a good place to bring up LUKE STEWART. He's not only a badass fighter, but he's a badass tattoo artist (with a chest piece by our own Scott Sylvia):
