i think an underground network would have lots of advantages. the ability for everyone in the network to be mobile to some degree and could make little circuits to the other private studios when things are typically slow in one area. i think with the power shop or even the network concept the biggest thing is everyones ego and their "right" to have an opinion. it used to be people gathered together because they had a like minded world view and now so many people feel the need to be self righteous that it causes a lack of unity. this isn't the case every time but i've seen peoples egos destroy something good. plus there is such an overwhelming fear and lack of trust amongst people that it is a huge obstacle towards making a cohesive movement towards something sustainable.

    vain ? no.
I really don't get why it's not o.k. to sign your name on tattoo art but it is ok to sign your name on any other kind of art (paintings, sculpture, illustration, etc.)
If the person getting the tattoo doesn't care that you signed it or wants you to sign it I really don't see where the problem is.
Y'all need to get over it. After all, just because it's on you doesn't make it your art. It is and always will be the art of the person who did the tattoo.

fullcoveragetattoos reacted to Ursula in Finishing other Artists Tattoos, and Courtesy Margins... Input?
Honestly is someone is getting good tattoos and they are stupid enough to let someone else finish them just 'cause it's going to be cheaper, then they probably deserve the shit quality work they are bound to end up with.
However, if you got a tattoo started, aren't happy with it and don't see any way of the original artist doing a good job then it's your choice who finishes it.
Also, if I want a tattoo really close or added onto another tattoo that should be my choice as it's my body. Personally I think it just looks better when your tattoos don't run into other tattoos but a lot of people I know just don't have the space for that luxury.
In the end people sometimes need to just get over themselves. There's always going to be assholes doing tattoos and if you're good at what you do those assholes shouldn't hurt your business.

fullcoveragetattoos reacted to David Flores in slang terms that make you cringe?
I don't take personal offense when people use slang terms I just kind of use it as a barometer for how in the loop a person is.
Two people joking around in the shop might say "ready to do some tatzaps" and the other might respond "slinging ink all day long" and i know they are joking having a good time.
However if some guy comes in and wants to show me his sweet tatz that his bro who has his own tat gun and ask how much it would cost him to get sleeved cause he bro would do it for $100, then that is annoying.

So does this mean everyone here who said signing tattoos is the worst ever and people who do so deserve 'fists flying' feel that way about Paul Rogers or Erik Inksmith? I bet you don't. How's that for a double standard.
I've seen lots of old tattoos with signatures. Not just from Paul and Erik theirs I've just had more exposure to.
Also to the guy with the Jap backpiece. The artist signing his name wasn't what 'dragged you into the Japanese political bullshit'. Going to Japan and willingly getting a backpiece dragged you into it. Also I doubt it's ever had a negative effect in your life. Get over it.

Richard: "Chris was given that name out in Japan but it has a double meaning... It's one who flies close to the sun... or something, like you can fly near the stars but never truly be... I dunno, I have heard that from a few people, but I think Chris is one of the hardest working, internally driven artists to hail from Texas. . . Or even this hemisphere... so **** those *******."
I would like to Quote Bob Roberts...
"I'd rather be a first rate Bob Roberts, then a second rate Nakano."
Either way I give it up to anyone whom displaces themselves in order to undertake the traditions, and learn the protocol for anything they love or are interested in. It's good to see, and it's inspiring.
