Had another session last week on my arm with Rachi. We're up to about 16 hours now, the grey is almost done, next session will be the start of some colour. Thinking after this is done, I'll go back to one-shot pieces for a while. Waiting months for it to be "finished" due to time/money constraints is getting frustrating >.<

slang terms that make you cringe?

A friend brought this up with me yesterday. We were talking about Japanese tattoos, and he pointed out that some of the mythology/artwork used in some tattooing is from other Asian countries. Being an ignorant Westerner, does it look stupid to refer to things as "Japanese", that may well originate from (for example) China? Is "Oriental" or "Asian" too broad/kind of racist-sounding? -

Testify. Same for getting mah nails did. New tattoos are only annoying for a week or so, long nails are annoying constantly. -

^That is flippin' terrifying. In a good way.

The neck/head thing is understandable, but I don't get why they can't just wear long-sleeved shirts/long pants if it's required. I'd be interested to know whether having tattoos ever helps, rather than hinders, the work of a police officer. I know a few corrections officers who are more respected by inmates, in part due to being tattooed.

Native American tattoos / designs
ThaliaCamille replied to gougetheeyes's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
Isn't it the case that traditionally women didn't wear the large headdresses (warbonnets?)? It seems a bit strange to have an image of a woman wearing one, when that goes against the whole tradition. I can't really say much, though, given I don't live in America. Australian Aborigines didn't have a huge history of tattooing, so there's not much of an equivalent here. -
But on the other hand: houses, food and cars. We lose :P

Cheers for the link. Was ok for some light viewing. But that blonde girl... *twitch*

I've been using it lately, have a few boards: hair/makeup, art, food, crafts and decor. I don't use the social side of it, though - I just pin stuff from Tumblr and other places on the internet to keep in one place for myself, rather than "repinning" things from the site itself.

I'm trying to imagine how one would handle going to the toilet. I'm guessing carry seat covers everywhere, or perfect the kanga-squat O.o

Used to have a cat that did this. Would get as close as possible around the edges of the shower/bath, and drink the water on the floor of the shower.

Last three posts by the page owner: "A man needs to make a living!!!" "YOU GUYS DONT EVEN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO WHAT'S REALLY REAL!!" "This has been a hard day... but your harmful comments won't stop me from my dream!" Surely, they troll?

anyone got some drawing tips?
ThaliaCamille replied to ChrisvK's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
Invest in a non-photo blue pencil. It allows you to start out with basic shapes and sketchy lines (I always find it helps to draw "skeletons", gestures and work out composition first). I go through those things like there's no tomorrow. -

Would you believe that this one made it all the way to Australia? Although I think it was a black square on the bottom of the foot.

Advice for sitting still(er)
ThaliaCamille replied to remindsmeofyou's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
Aside from relaxing (which is always a good thing), you could try being distracted. If the studio has one set up, and it's ok with the person tattooing you, you could watch tv/a movie. Nothing that requires much attention, just something mindless. That way, you're not thinking about keeping still, stressing yourself out. Otherwise, drugs. -
If the clients brought in the image(s) and asked for a direct copy... I can't imagine the motivation behind that. Why would you ever want a direct copy of someone else's tattoo? At least I assume that's what happened, the alternative (the artists passing these off as their own "custom" work) is just too stupid to even think about.

Finish my right arm. Get my other foot done. First tattoo on my chest/belly. Avoided getting anything on my torso so far out of dislike for my own flab, now decided I shouldn't hate it, but decorate it :D

To quote the man himself, "Tat my name on you so I know its real Tat my fucking name on you so I know its real I know it hurts, But I aint tryna hear it ‘Cause when Im not around, I’ll still be there in spirit" It still weirds me out to see Jimmy from Degrassi swear so much.
