  1. It might put me off a bit (depending on exactly which magazine/images it was), but likely not enough to make me walk out of there. If the people were decent, it would just be one of those things, like when music you're not really into is playing.
  2. There's no point worrying about what other people think. Most people live in their own little world and wont even notice your butterfly tattoo, and anyone who insults you for it is a judgemental dick whose opinion is worthless. (Plus the idea that "feminine" traits are negative is harmful, blah blah feminist ideology.)
  3. I've realised lately that not only have I been left alone by those charity collectors, but I also haven't been yelled at from a passing car. Not even once, since becoming visibly tattooed. I used to get it semi-regularly (sometimes for my clothes, sometimes for my hair, sometimes compliments, sometimes insults). The recent spate of bikie dummy-spits in the news probably helps :P
  4. Just learned how stupid-low minimum wage is over there. Also heard that some places pay below minimum wage, with the expectation that staff will make the rest in tips. Also, tips are taxed. It's like they WANT people to turn to crime...
  5. (For background, my right arm is nearly finished and I have nothing on my left.) In my dream last night, I was getting a huge tattoo of like a mermaid and some castles, god knows why. Only half-way through getting it done, I noticed that it was being tattooed on the wrong arm, and going over the (awesome) work I already have on my right arm. I told the artist "Oh, can you try to blend it in to what's already there", because I thought too much had been done to try and stop. I woke up extremely freaked out, thinking all those hours on my arm were wasted T.T
  6. The short one. Cut it down and make it even shorter if you can.
  7. Best Ink | Watch Best Ink online | TV Show | SideReel For all your somewhat-unreliable-tv-watching needs :D (You have to try a couple of the sources, but usually there's one or two that works.)
  8. How is it that some kind of copyright shit hasn't come up between Ink Master and Best Ink? I jut watched the first ep of BE and it's pretty much exactly the same. Although I think they tried to get more hot chicks who cry a lot.
  9. Yeah, I'm agreeing with you. By "here" I meant Australia, where the rule seems more fair than the changes that were in the OP.
  10. Not sure why they included the bit about "sleeve tattoos", if it's not visible in the formal uniform. General rule here is no head and no hands (+ nothing "offensive", which could be manipulated), which seems fair enough.
  11. I think as long as you're not screaming or thrashing (both things I've actually seen people do :S), any reaction is pretty normal. Usually I find carrying a conversation to be the best distraction from pain, but I suppose some artists might find that annoying.
  12. Do they not brief volunteers prior to them starting work there? How did she get through 3 hours of work before someone noticed?
  13. Well put, I totally get what you mean. The work thing is a given: I didn't mean "go put scribbles all over your face, no one will mind." Like I said, a foot is kind of inconsequential there (in that it wont stop anyone getting work, unless it's a job that involves not wearing shoes), and I'd never thought of it as being the same as hands or neck. I do agree that hands done and nothing else on the arms looks stupid. However for me, that's just an aesthetic preference: I'm not that bothered if someone does it. The "go for it" was for the foot tattoo. I think it's agreed upon that it's not really one of those "earned" spots, it's a placement I really like, and I encourage people to do it if that's what they want :)
  14. Feet aren't really in the same league as hands and neck though, are they? You don't go to job interviews with no shoes on. Even for women who might wear open shoes, dark stockings usually do the trick. My foot was my second tattoo. I don't know, I think any rules for how much coverage you should have before doing xyz are mostly bullshit. Just go for it.
  15. Probably on one of the Spice Girls. ...yeah.
  16. My story is pretty boring. 18th birthday, took myself to a shop in the CDB, procured a tiny upside-down heart on my thigh that matched a preexisting (also upside-down) scarification on my other thigh. It took all of 10 minutes. TBH, I think it'll be incorporated or covered up by something else soon, it's the only one of my tattoos that I'm a bit embarrassed about.
  17. That bit that's kind of above the ditch, sort of on the top/outside of the forearm? That's been the worst for me, always takes longer, and has had a little bit of fall-out.
  18. Bahaha @Duffa where did you find the QR one?! Those ads are so ridiculous.
  19. Few years ago, I went to a fresh meat intake. It was my first time ever on skates (had rollerbladed as a kid, but even then, that was at least 10 years ago). Went fine for half an hour without falling. Eventually went arse-up. From one fall, I fractured my ankle in two places and was apparently mm away from requiring surgery. Confirmed that me and sports definitely don't mix. That has nothing on the time I went to sit on an armchair, missed, and fractured my arm. Definitely falls under the banner of "stupid".
  20. For me, it's purely aesthetic. I prefer the look of a single, well-composed, continuous piece on the arm. Different strokes, is all.
