Congratulations, piece sits great on your back! Bittersweet is the right word for concluding such a big piece. I see you've got some more real estate for more projects, on to the next! [emoji6]

The first part of my journey comes to an end after 3 years. Chris Crooks finished my entire back today. Time to start saving for the front!
-
Yeah, i couldn't be happier!

Day 2 down, both lower legs colored. Next trip we color the upper legs finishing up the full backpiece and then it's on to the front.

I was watching a movie and this scene resonated with me so i made a gif. People with backpieces will recognize this!

As promised, can't wait to go back in the summer for the colors.

Full back finished and back of legs in progress over 6 trips. Each trip is 2 consecutive days of tattooing, on average 7 hours per day.
-
Day 2 down. Here's a quick video of the progress, I'll share some pictures asap. I'll be flying back in during the summer to get the colors in. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5a4d38dcaf92c/VID_153460411_221435_639.mp4

WelcomeGraceAnnne All my tattoos, including full back have been healed with tegaderm. My routine is plastic wrap until 4 hours after tattoo, shower with hibiscrub, wrinse thoroughly, air dry 15 to 20 minutes, apply tegaderm. Leave it on for 5/6 days, remove in warm shower, gently peeling the tegaderm against the skin. Make sure to use enough overlap with tegaderm to prevent leaks. If you get a leak, remove all derm, shower routine, reapply fresh derm. I also sleep on my back and have had no issues.

Spent another 2 days with Chris Crooks, he lined and shaded the back of my right leg on day1 and colored 2 lotus flowers on day 2. Going back in January to finish color and start the back of the left leg. Video of day1 on his instagram.

I've had this happen some of the times I've used tegaderm, only on the outer perimeter of the derm though, never on the tattoo area. This has always disappeared a few days after removing the derm, i suspect it's some reaction between sweat, dermglue. It won't keep me from using tegaderm again, the heal is just so much smoother in my experience. Verstuurd vanaf mijn ONEPLUS A3003 met Tapatalk

My backpiece by Chris Crooks is finished for now. Will be extending down to the knees this summer. Two full consecutive days to get it finished, forgive the redness and bloodinfused colors.

I'm by no means an expert so don't take my opinion as gospel. I've always used tegaderm but never applied it straight after the tattoo, always around 4 hours after. I do think it doesn't sound like a good idea to drain the derm or poke holes in it. You're basically creating an area not closed off enough to keep bad stuff out and not open enough to let it breathe and get cleaned regularly. Imo either keep the derm closed and leave it for 3 days minimum or once the derm is compromised, remove it, wash tattoo gently with ph neutral soap, airdy and reaply new derm. Hope this was helpful, best of luck.

Maaaan, i really want this book!

I second the tegaderm/saniderm option. I've had my full back lined and shaded in 2 consecutive days, after first day slept with cling wrap, second day i kept cling wrap on for 4 hours, showered, air dried and got tegaderm on entire back. Kept it on for 6 days and it was basically healed. Verstuurd vanaf mijn ONEPLUS A3003 met Tapatalk

I've used tegaderm on all my tattoos and absolutely love it. I did get adhesive stickiness twice out of like 15 applications. It's annoying but wash it with warm water and ph neutral soap 3 times/day and the glue is gone after 2 days. It's not a fun feeling having your clothes stick and i haven't been able to figure out what causes it yet. I always leave the derm on for 6 days so maybe it's some weird sweat/adhesive combo.
