Rustyrider reacted to LizBee in Tattooing on an existing bruise
I know in this case the matter is moot, but as a medical person I would not get tattooed over a bruise, because the skin is disrupted in this location and I don't think the ink would "take" properly (or there is a risk it would not) and there would also be increased risk of infection, possibly.

Booked in a quick tattoo with Ross Nagle... Long overdue, and great to be back to AllStar again.
Jesus-themed tattoos seem to be to Ross what spiders are to Matt Ariola and penises are to Dan Sinnes... I probably will succumb.

Booked for my second tattoo in mid-January. Going with Christian Buckingham again at Revolt in Vegas. Will be black and gray realism with maybe just a bit of a single color. My first tattoo has healed very nicely and is almost done peeling I think, it's on my right calf and was done a few weeks ago on November 9th.

Not owing anything is HUGE! I would probably be covered if I had the $$.
As it is, my good friend tattoos me and I found out she may be moving to Colorado (im in Cali), so i really need to accelerate before she leaves me... Lol

these two points are great, and I agree, the mental pain control seems to work better for me than ever, and yes we have worked hard to get to a good financial place,I'm not a wealthy guy,but not owing any money is a form of wealth IMO.

As a 60 year old male, I can tell you that some of mine heal slower, especially in the bendy areas.
Is the pain worse than it used to be? Probably, but I can put up with it better.
I can say that I am a slave t the lotion because I am prone to dry skin and nothing looks worse than a scaly tattoo.
And since everything I own is paid off, I am accelerating the program.
They say that you can't take it with you, but I damn sure am going out very decorated!

I'm 56,I think my tattoos actually heal better and faster because I am more educated about healing after all the tattoos I have had done(from much trial and error over the years),
I will say that I think getting tattoos seems to hurt more than when I was 25 ! LOL

I'm 50+, and still working on my tattoo collection.
Any others out there?
I'm curious if your age has made any difference in how you get your tattoos... Or in how they heal...

Mine don't heal any slower than the one I got in 1976. I got a couple of large ones last summer and 2 new ones this summer and am scheduled for another large one this Feb. (I'm 69).

Tip as often as you pay (not including deposits).

I am in the Mid-West. I tip after each session. Unless you have booked out your entire piece, this artist has no idea if you will be back or not.So he might think he just got stiffed. Also, I think if you tip, especially after the first session, it shows respect for the artist, which they will appreciate and remember next time you come in.

Rustyrider reacted to Synesthesia in Most painful spot to get tattooed
I experienced hell on earth the other day when I got my butt crease tattooed (where your butt and leg connects). We hit tons of bad spots that day: knee, back of the thigh, hip...bit none as awful as the butt crease. Literally felt like I had a white hot sewing needle being jabbed into my butt! And he just kept going back into it to add details...

I had a knuckle tattooed last weekend just to see what it was like.
That's something you really, really gotta want to do.

Rustyrider got a reaction from Michaelshane in Hi - New here
Hi,
I called myself rustyrider here because my horses name is Rusty, and I couldn't think of anything else. Haha
I'm 56, I got my first tattoo at 31 - I think.
I have a few tattoos here and there.
I decided to join because my friends don't understand my love for tattoo art, and I want to be able to 'talk' to more people who share the same love.

Rustyrider got a reaction from tc3500 in The Tattoo Pain-Scale
I had a traumatic injury early last year, and while recovering, I went in for a sternum piece. It was so weird that I felt NO pain. I think the connections in my brain were screwed up. I hurried and got 3 tattoos quite painlessly.
Unfortunately... It didn't last.. Lol
