cookietruck replied to Lochlan's topic in LST Get Togethers & Tattoo Conventions

How will the strong survive the many?
cookietruck replied to Fancher's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
the blogs and all that, how easy it to see everyones work, is cool for all of us. it's also good marketing for the artists. i feel like it might water down the ideas of the artists a little bit though, i kinda feel like i start seeing the same thing all the time. maybe guys are using each others work for influence or maybe i'm just seeing a vast amount of people's work so it just seems like i'm seeing the same things done pretty similarly. there is something to be said about the artists that still don't really put their work online and just rely on word of mouth. it's kinda a double edged sword for the artist like that unless they have a large client base built up. kinda hate to put those artists work on the internetz but hate to see 'em sittin around with no work too...but i kidna doubt puttin their work in a forum post or two really does anything to help 'em get work anyway. -
most of the higgs albums are listenable to enjoyable for me. the albums are worth it just for the art though, so if i don't like to listen to them i'm still happy to buy them.

gotta add perfection in austin, tx. lots of good art, anyone in the shop will put a quality tattoo on you and every artist is very nice.
-
if you're local you should definitely get something from him. he put a badass tudor rose on me a while back that's a little more classic. Jaie is cool coz i just have to give a rough idea and then let him do what he wants and the tattoo ends up very awesome...and i can get something within a week of talking to him
-
yes. crazy detail in this thing. the shape of my calf makes it look kinda weird...
-
Just got this. The artist asked if i was cool with something less classic looking...i said yeah.

^ such an awesome photo. just watched the freddy corbin tattoo age videos last night...

^ hopefully i'll get something from jaie in a week or two. also, another cool shop in austin is electric13, sent my little brother in there (he was going to get some terrible shit from a dude out his house that his friends know about), so glad we were able to convince him to go to a real shop. paco is a fun dude. -
oh sweet. can't wait to see 'em.
-
yeah jaie doesn't get on the internets too much and he doesn't do much to promote himself, kinda relies on word of mouth, that's cool for me but not so much for him. he recently told me he was gonna promote himself a bit more, him and katja (from perfection too) are about to do a flash sheet and get some stickers and flyers made...pretty old school. hopefully i'll be getting another tattoo from him in the next few weeks here.
-
of course, jaie devore at perfection, you can find more of his work at the perfection website... all the people at perfection are real nice and do good work. jaie and bob are in the back of the shop...

The dreaded wait to be tattooed
cookietruck replied to slayer9019's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
i have a local dude that does rad stuff and i can always get something within a week or two... so the wait for me is waiting for the right time financially...probably a good thing though, that way i won't get a bunch of work too fast... -

love to get tattoo'd at perfection. jaie is the dude that does work i really dig, have a few from him, i've told friends here in austin about him. actually all the perfection artists are awesome. they're nice, do good work and i'm kinda surprised to see that most people don't mention that place. when talking about the other austin shops... katja is awesome, super nice and does great work. check this, and i'm not talking only the tattoo, i smile everytime i walk in there and see the druid (and mummy)... this is katja's work. just check the perfection website. this might be my first post, been lurking for a bit. my first tattoo was a few years ago. my lady paid for it for my birthday. hurt pretty good, still didn't get the whole tattoo thing after getting this one, i got one more because of some coaxing from my brother...after that one...i'm pretty addicted to the whole experience. i think i've been lucky to get work done from guys who are nice dudes, personable and make the whole experience really unique.
