I think the people are picked more for their "personality" and attitude than for their abilities. Most people interested in the color portrait or new school thing tend to not really care about tattooing. It is more of a springboard for them to be famous or at least act like they are. These are the people chosen for this show. Not the real deal tattooers who can take anyones idea and make something nice out of it.

I got tattooed by Randy in 97 at the Deep Ellum convention. Real good dude! I fucking hate new school tattooing but I still love the tattoo I got from Randy and I still dig the stuff he does!

Not sure what the problem is. Is it because she is taking the sacred art of tattoo flash and trying to sell it? Isnt that the whole fucking point of flash? Is it because she isnt a tattooer? Or because she wants to be? In my opinion she is doing it right. Learn to draw tattoos, understand the language and then learn to tattoo. Way too many people are doing it the other way around.

I talk about Joel all the time. Got tattooed by him about 14 years ago. Been friends ever since. Real good dude and totally insane! And yes he is working his ass off to catch up to Trevino.

Might go on sunday to say hello to friends but I am not a fan of that show. Or most conventions for that matter.

Got tattooed by Horitomo about a month after he moved to the states. Rad experience with very little conversation.

I had sleaves, rib tattoos, both legs pretty much covered and worked as a full time tattoo artist for 15 years before I got my hand tattooed. I feel like people today do not consider the future when making these decisions. Learn a little about tattooing before rushing out and getting you neck/face or hands blasted. You only get one shot to do it right.

One of the hardest things for me about tattooing was learning how to connect with people in a real short period of time. You have to really try to put yourself out there so someone feels like you appreciate the fact that they are letting you tattoo them. Most tattooers forget who the process is really about, the customer. I constantly remind myself that although each appointment is just a small part of my day, it is a huge part of that persons life from that point on. If you cant understand this and treat people accordingly then tattooing is a bad career choice for you. That being said, sometimes people are hard to connect with no matter how hard you try.

Good to know. Just want something tiny from him. Hopefully he has time. Matt did a big hannya on my ribs 5 or 6 years ago. He is a real good dude.

this thread will only work if people start naming names. I would only get tattooed by people I like personally. Im almost full up so those remaining patches of skin are very important to me.

I am jealous of the classic 30. Play through my friends occasionally and the tone is amazing. His is an older 4/10 before they changed the logo. Love that thing.

Going again this year for sure. Just to hang and hopefully get a few tattoos.
