My first tattoo was done in a biker bar in Waynesville N.C.. However since it was 1985 and the tattooer was legit I'm not sure if I broke a commandment.

@TrixieFaux Just to show how everyone is different, on my back piece, the spine wasn't bad at all. Neither were the ribs or shoulder blades. All the good, bony parts were pretty easy, in fact. The lower back and the red stripes, however, were just bloody fucking misery for me. As for body type, I'm male, 5'9" and about 145lbs. This is the tattoo.

Tattoo Culture Magazine
MGblues replied to Graeme's topic in Tattoo TV Shows, Documentaries and Media
Loved what I've seen so far, but really hope it's popular enough to make the leap to paper. I'd certainly pay what it worth for a subscription to this magazine. -
@MadeIndelible That is so Fuckin' awesome! I have an old 1st edition copy of "Tattooing A To Z" by Huck Spaulding and the inside front of the slipcover has a picture of Thom Devita's back piece when it was brand new. The tattoo is credited to Huck Spaulding, and from your photo it looks to have aged well.

Looks like it could fit nicely alongside my Robert Williams books!

The book came today. Looks like it's never been opened. @irezumi @ShawnPorter No "Tattooed print", but the autographed note to the previous owner makes up for that. ;)

Tattoo Culture Magazine
MGblues replied to Graeme's topic in Tattoo TV Shows, Documentaries and Media
God I hope this magazine goes to paper. I love having something tangible. That's why I still buy books and CD's. Besides, trying to read this on an iPhone even thru bifocals is an exercise in futility. -

Saw this on your IG last night...Tough as nails!

The $129 I paid was on the low end of what the other available copies were going for.
-
Cool, Bookfinder is how I found it in the first place.
-
I've wanted one of these little books for a while, especially since the image is permanently engraved on my back now, but never ran across one till yesterday on Amazon. I found a 1st edition in it's box, plastic wrapped and signed for $129.00. I don't have it in my hot 'lil hands yet, of course, but for that amount I had to pull the trigger. Sound too good to be true?

Tattooartist Magazine #33
MGblues replied to Deb Yarian's topic in Tattoo TV Shows, Documentaries and Media
I was hoping the interview would be on the blog website, but sadly no :( I don't tattoo, but I love to be able to get this magazine. -
^^^^ What David said. I have a Missus, but I still ended up doing the aftercare myself. It's no biggie. The infernal itching on the other hand...

Stupid question time - getting a shot where the tattoo is
MGblues replied to metalmancpa's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I think it's not that they worry they'll damage the tattoo, they worry you'll have a reaction to to shot and not be able to see it because of the tattoo. -
@Dan S the "Hunnert n Worst" piece has already disappeared under the ROA backpiece. The chest eagle will be a much better replacement, cuz I ain't too proud to say I was a "Dope On A Rope". LOL
-
@Dan S Gotta love how that works when you find a local shop/artist you like going to... For me, the chest eagle for my birthday in February to replace the f'ed up 101st Airborne tattoo I had covered up on my back, courtesy of the girlfriend and gift certificates... After that next is in April. I've already dropped off reference material at the shop, but it's a traditional Sailor Jerry style rattle snake with a cowboy woodchuck riding it, complete with cowboy hat and saddle... Woodchuck Norris.

^^^ Thumbs Up^^^ :D

@phickey Awesome!!! Who did it?

Had the last major session on my backpiece this past Saturday. 8 sessions over 6 months, 25.5 hours and 2 tubs of Aquaphor later, it's basically done. Have to go back next week to get a few touch-ups and darken the blue up a bit, but basically done. I'll get some better pictures soon.
-
I got my ROA backpiece finished today and noticed I've felt kinda blue, blah, meh, ever since I got home. It's not that I regret the tattoo, or there's anything wrong with it. To the contrary it's awesome. It turned out as good as I ever hoped it would. But finishing the backpiece is kinda like climbing Mt. Everest for me. Like a "how do I top this?" feeling. I'm sure it'll go away by morning. I already have plans for getting an eagle on my chest for my birthday.

"The Tatcave". Not only does it meet your criteria for an awful name, but this place actually exists nearby to where I live. Their work is just as shitty as their name.

I got a spider tattooed on my thumb earlier this year and for maybe two hours I was thinking "Man, maybe I shouldn't have done that" (BTW that shit is in there. It ain't washing off). But that went away real quick because I really wanted a spider on my thumb, besides no one hardly ever notices my hands anyway. Far worse than regrets, I've had this nightmare two or three times where suddenly all my tattoos are gone, i'm a total pinky all over again.... It's caused me to wake up in a panic thinking "Oh God, now I have to go through getting them all over again".
