  1. My first tattoo was done just after my 21st birthday. It was the Greek alphabet done in a band around my left bicep. It was done in an Hell's Angels parlour and my girlfriend at the time didn't want me to get it done. I was sat in the chair, about 30 minutes in when my girlfriend calls me up to tell me she's had a minor car accident. She heard the buzzing of the tattoo machine and forgot about her minor "ding" on the road. She didn't speak to me for a week after.

  2. I had an interesting experience this weekend just gone because I didn't have visual tattoos. I was dressed in a plain shirt and jacket, so I stood out like a sore thumb in rock club I was in. Everyone kept on eying me up until my friend called some people out on it. They then asked me if I knew anything about tattoos or if I was tough enough to have any. My response was to slowly take my shirt off to reveal my torso and back covered in tattoos all done by Stewart. Needless to say they were speechless. I just told them I was earning my visual spots, and not being a show of jackass trying to fit in with everyone else.

Sorry if that was off topic. I do like visual tattoos but only if the person has tattoos in other areas. Otherwise I think there is too much blank skin around and they look like an attempt at getting attention. I'll get my forearms/hands/neck done when I retire and I have no more room left.

  3. As much as I don't like waiting for tattoos to be finished, I've never had the urge to get a small tattoo in between appointments for a larger piece. I like admiring larger pieces in the stages they are done so that I can see the progression as well as all the details which you sometimes don't see fully on the finished piece without looking really hard

  4. I've never taken any pain killers before getting tattooed, but I agree with everyone in terms of getting a good nights sleep. Started my back after 30 hours of not sleeping and although it wasn't unbearable, it wasn't a fun experience. Plus the pain is what makes it worth having the tattoos. The pain is temporary but the awesome tattoo on your ribs will last forever.

  5. So yesterday was interesting. By the time I started my back piece I'd been up for 30 hours working. But the lining is pretty much done. Here's the link to his blog:

Panther vs Tiger in Progress – Stewart Robson

The sparrows were a suggestion from @Stewart Robson and from the Amund Dietzel book and I think an excellent idea. Can't wait to get the lining finished and start on the shading :)

  6. I'm getting a tiger and panther circling each other and fighting. When he did a rough drawing on my back it filled up the space nicely so there might not be room for background. It's going from the top of my back/bottom of neck to half way down the back of my thighs hopefully. 4 hours of outlining tomorrow. Can't wait. Plus it will match all the stuff on my front that Stewart has done :D
