My first tattoo was done just after my 21st birthday. It was the Greek alphabet done in a band around my left bicep. It was done in an Hell's Angels parlour and my girlfriend at the time didn't want me to get it done. I was sat in the chair, about 30 minutes in when my girlfriend calls me up to tell me she's had a minor car accident. She heard the buzzing of the tattoo machine and forgot about her minor "ding" on the road. She didn't speak to me for a week after.

What's a savings account? I just have a bank account called "Tattoo Money" :P

Last time you got tattooed? (THE ITCH)
asradin replied to Petri Aspvik's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
I think the longest period I've gone without being tattooed since my first one is maybe 6 months and that was deliberate so I could save some money. Although after my backpiece is finished I think I'll take a break and see what I want on my legs and ribs :) Oh and I last got tattooed one week ago exactly -
Here is the second session on my back piece: Panther vs Tiger – Stewart Robson 6 hours in and I can't believe how much has been done. Even though Stewart has done my entire front torso I'm still amazed at how quick he tattoos. Also on a side note, not being up for 30 hours before getting tattooed helped a lot. So glad I managed to sleep before this session.

Well my back piece goes onto my ass but that's just for the ladies ;) :P

It was more a case of prove them wrong like that or let my drunk mind take over and come out with a crappy insult that wouldn't have done the situation justice

I had an interesting experience this weekend just gone because I didn't have visual tattoos. I was dressed in a plain shirt and jacket, so I stood out like a sore thumb in rock club I was in. Everyone kept on eying me up until my friend called some people out on it. They then asked me if I knew anything about tattoos or if I was tough enough to have any. My response was to slowly take my shirt off to reveal my torso and back covered in tattoos all done by Stewart. Needless to say they were speechless. I just told them I was earning my visual spots, and not being a show of jackass trying to fit in with everyone else. Sorry if that was off topic. I do like visual tattoos but only if the person has tattoos in other areas. Otherwise I think there is too much blank skin around and they look like an attempt at getting attention. I'll get my forearms/hands/neck done when I retire and I have no more room left.

As much as I don't like waiting for tattoos to be finished, I've never had the urge to get a small tattoo in between appointments for a larger piece. I like admiring larger pieces in the stages they are done so that I can see the progression as well as all the details which you sometimes don't see fully on the finished piece without looking really hard

I've never taken any pain killers before getting tattooed, but I agree with everyone in terms of getting a good nights sleep. Started my back after 30 hours of not sleeping and although it wasn't unbearable, it wasn't a fun experience. Plus the pain is what makes it worth having the tattoos. The pain is temporary but the awesome tattoo on your ribs will last forever.

Just saw this thread and thought I'd count how many animals I have on me. My backpiece has a tiger, panther and 4 sparrows. I also have two more sparrows, a snake, an owl, a wolf's head and a raven. Don't think you can ever have too many animal tattoos

@jade1955 I didn't manage to get any sleep as the train was delayed by 90 minutes so I had to keep people in Manchester updated. Finally got home around midnight after being awake for 41 hours. It was epic. I'm hoping the next session is less eventful

@Duffa I kept on almost falling asleep laid on my front and then he started on the kidneys and it was like I'd just had an ice cold shower. Totally worth it though and I know shading will be better. Can't stand being lined lol

@Duffa It wasn't too bad, It feels really pinch to start with but after a few lines you get used to it and for me it started to tickle. The nastiest bits were by the kidneys and getting round to the ribs. Although I think my lack of sleep made the pain worse but it wasn't unbearable which is a good thing for me.

@jade1955 That back piece was looking awesome yesterday. Can't wait to see it finished. I had an appiontment with Stewart yesterday before jade's wife and got this done: Panther vs Tiger in Progress – Stewart Robson Can't wait for my next session

So yesterday was interesting. By the time I started my back piece I'd been up for 30 hours working. But the lining is pretty much done. Here's the link to his blog: Panther vs Tiger in Progress – Stewart Robson The sparrows were a suggestion from @Stewart Robson and from the Amund Dietzel book and I think an excellent idea. Can't wait to get the lining finished and start on the shading :)

@Iwar I think you quoted him correctly. I'll get my girlfriend to take a good picture of my torso and I'll post it up on here in the appropriate thread. I think my back is going to be interesting but totally worth it.

Could not agree more @jade1955. The stuff I have from the parlours near me is by comparison to Frith St just absolute crap. Spend the money to travel to a good tattooist and get a smaller tattoo. You'll always be able to get more money, but the tattoo you get will last forever.

I'm getting a tiger and panther circling each other and fighting. When he did a rough drawing on my back it filled up the space nicely so there might not be room for background. It's going from the top of my back/bottom of neck to half way down the back of my thighs hopefully. 4 hours of outlining tomorrow. Can't wait. Plus it will match all the stuff on my front that Stewart has done :D

Anybody Got A Good Explaination For This Question?
asradin replied to MGblues's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
I just say "So I could look like the crazy tattooed scientist I am." That usually gets blank stares and gives me enough time to move away -
I've been at Alton Towers all day so only just watched this. Loving this whole series and can't wait to see the final episode on Troy

I saw those pictures on the bbc a few days ago. Was really interesting, it's just a shame that the first edition of the book is sold out. Hopefully it will get a wider release. Although I did manage to find a video of a guy flicking through the book slow enough so that you could see all the pictures in it.

I like the way some of them look, although it's not something I'd ever have on myself as a first choice. I guess it's a viable cover up option and done right can look really good.
