Haha ^. Happy birthday @El Dolmago!!!! :D Hopefully you like the band, too... -
I like the sound of the ocean. That's about it for me and the beach. I go because my family and friends seem to like it and there are good restaurants on the way home. In that case it's all about the long-sleeve, hooded sun protection cover-up!

I don't know about that. Certainly can't speak for everybody who gets that type of tattoo, but my one friend who actually has an Amanda Wachob tattoo is really into ALL kinds of tattoos. She has other styles of tattoos in addition to that one. But she really loves her AW tattoo, I think it's her favorite. Is that a problem? So, it's going to fade. I guess she will deal with that when the time comes. I would just hope for the "watercolor tattoo" client's sake, that they did enough research to realize their tattoo is going to fade (more so and more quickly than other tattoos that have black outlines and shading). If people know that, and still go for it, so be it...their skin, their money. I'm sure my friend does like watercolor paintings, I wouldn't assume otherwise. -
Tattoos are just like us. If we are lucky enough to grow old, our tattoos will grow old with us. Old, faded, greenish-black tattoos look pretty cool to me, as long as the original composition and placement were solid.

While I've never been to a convention, I did see some live tattooing with lots of people watching at the Perseverance show. For sure the attention was on what the tattooer was doing and the piece of art coming together, rather than gawking at the person getting the tattoo. And those dudes were lying there practically naked, fundyoshis only! The only time my attention was brought to one of the guys getting tattooed was when my daughter was right up front just mesmerized, staring at the whole thing--and the guy getting tattooed winked at her and smiled. She jumped back and said, "Mommy, he blinked at me! What does that mean?" Hahaha! It was pretty funny. I found out later through the info on the other thread that it was Yebis, another tattooer with work in the exhibit, while he was getting tattooed by Miyazo.

Exactly! It is very difficult for me to move a purring cat from my lap--not only for their sake... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow, maybe we should have a separate thread for those of us who abstain from intoxicants... It could counterbalance the "posting while inebriated" thread! Also, if AA/NA doesn't do it for you, there are Buddhist groups and recovery options that are pretty rad. I quit drinking several years ago. What seemed hard at first is now just a way of life...and a great way of life, at that. Not boring, not humorless, as I once feared. Wishing you strength and peace @MadeIndelible. -

Those people may find out that they need another kind of shrink after the "ink shrink" but hey, that could be a whole nother show! -
America's Next Top Tattoo Model.
TrixieFaux replied to abees's topic in Tattoo TV Shows, Documentaries and Media
To me it makes no difference. I will like tattoos whether they are trendy or not, whether there are shows about them or not. I also don't really care whether people are getting them "for the right reasons" or not. Are there right reasons and wrong reasons? Maybe to each person it's different. We live, we die, we get tattoos...or not. I'm having a live and let live moment, sorry to interrupt the bitch session. :D -
Have any of you seen the documentary G-DOG? It's about an amazing man, Father Greg Boyle, who helps men and women get out of gangs and turn their lives around. He runs an organization in L.A. called Homeboy Industries. They have rehab services, a cafe and a bakery that employs the ex gang members, and they have free laser tattoo removal for gang related tattoos or tattoos holding them back from getting work. It's really good. One of our good friends works there.

America's Next Top Tattoo Model.
TrixieFaux replied to abees's topic in Tattoo TV Shows, Documentaries and Media
Ha! Well, I did think it was a joke at first...but, then again America's Next Top Model is (was?) really successful, so of course they are doing this. Never heard of those magazines either, but Hellenbrand is cool! Ok, I'm sure this is too cheesy for her, but @Eilin should go on this show. She'd win. She's gorgeous and she has the best tattoos! -
Awesome! (On both counts.)

Plainskins say the darndest things...
TrixieFaux replied to TrixieFaux's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
Right, it was just used in the thread title lightly, as a joke. I don't actually call anyone that in person... Although, on an Australian morning show, the untattooed woman speaking about tattoos on women being a mistake, referred to herself as a "cleanskin". I guess that would make us....dirty. ;) Anyway, funny story about the tv! -
Has she piled her ears up on top of her head to make a spring bonnet?
-
ah, why judge her anyway? She booked an appointment not knowing the artist. So what? It's her skin. I think the wording problem was "most girls". Dunno. Don't really care. I would never buy a Louis Vuitton bag OR book an appointment in that manner, but I try not to judge others either. It is inconsequential.

PS: I forgot to mention I am so impressed you did the 90 day challenge! I really want to do a 30 but don't have that kind of time. The most I've done consecutively is a 5. One day...

Well shit, I was all punk rock in the 80s but I don't know many of these bands you guys are talking about! I got to see some classics, like the Ramones, play in Hartford, CT... I loved bands like the Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, the Specials, Flipper, Devo, the Rezillos... ok too many to list. Some stuff from the more fun/silly punk rock side of the spectrum to some heavier stuff. Always loved David Bowie and Elvis Costello, not even sure what genre Elvis falls under, new wave? These days, I've been listening to the new Brody Dalle album, Diploid Love: And I love this Shirley Manson/Brody Dalle collaboration, Girls Talk:
