It is a fun thread. Sorry, it's like chips...hard to post just one. I have an up-to-the-minute shot. I was lying on the couch and she came over to lick my hand while I had my phone in my other hand, so I had to take this pic...

This is our sweet and funny friend, Aurora. I love her so much. A friend of a friend took in her mom--a stray pregnant cat, and raised the kittens for 12 weeks. Our daughter, who was 3 at the time, wanted to name her Sleeping Beauty so we went with Sleeping Beauty's given name, Aurora.

Sooo, wait a sec, just how long does this agony stage with the lower leg last? A day? A week? Weeks? What are we talkin' here? -

Well, yes of course you can suggest it and I will mull it over, but I will say I'm kind of into the idea of the one shot tattoo...it's been a while. I've been doing these multiple session arms over the past couple years. And then there's the thing about how I will never see it if it is on my torso! I do hear what you're saying though. Bigger certainly can be better when it comes to tattoos. I am leaning toward the side of my lower leg at the moment, but that isn't a lot of space. I do like your feet ones though--small but still awesome! -

I was simply responding to this ^^^. I never actually used the word sexist but the comment you made came across as rather judgmental. That is all. The original post that started this thread was from a troll. Yes, I have "liked" many of the things said on this thread. You don't seem to understand but it's ok. Life will go on. Good tattoos will happen. -
Oops, is cleaning it 2-3 times a day lax? I only clean mine (thoroughly) once a day in the shower each morning. For the first full day I leave it alone but usually by day 2 when it starts feeling dry, I use a basic unscented moisturizer once or twice a day to soothe it. That's it. My tattoos have so far healed quickly with no problems.

Huh, I had heard Philippes had the original French Dip... guess it may be an unsettled argument: CLOSED: L.A.'s Iconic Dish: Cole's French Dip Vs. Philippe's French Dip | L.A.'s Iconic Dish | Food | KCET Glad you had a good time here. LA has a lot to offer. -

Yes!! Well now that I met him on Sunday and told him I want one as he signed my book with an awesome cat drawing....it's like I have to asap. I don't know how long the wait is, he just gave a nod and said, "call." Hardest thing now is figuring out which image/where........thinking it'll have to be on a leg since my arms are pretty much covered and I want to be able to look at it as much as possible! ? -

ha, maybe because troll #2 doesn't seem to realize he is a troll and a discussion about treating people with respect (or at least realizing you are in mixed company online and could choose words more wisely) can't be all bad. -

As a kindergarten (multi-subject) teacher, I love teaching art and have gotten more into it this year than ever. Aside from visual art I also do a lot with music & drama. These are some of the art projects we have done this year. One super awesome thing about it is that our most recent art project (the Mondrian one) was suggested to me by @cltattooing on Instagram!! I just think it's really cool that a tattooer from Oakland who I've never met in person has influenced my Los Angeles kindergarten class. The internet can be so far reaching and positive. -

It's not for me to judge what others have chosen to put on their own skin. The "OP" is a troll who posted that to stir up trouble...then you came along and agreed with him. -

Well, that was a great experience! @DJDeepFried took a bunch of great photos so those are coming. We got to meet @Lance and @Stewart Robson, plus a bunch of other tattoo artists we admire, like Shige, Horitomo, Bonny, Juni, Kaneko, Brand, Chuey... Seeing those back pieces in person (esp. a couple by Gogue who we also met) was really sweet. Never saw so much beautiful work in one place. PS. Lance you are not pudgy! And Stewart, sorry Stella tried to punch you in the stomach. She liked you, and she is a crazed lunatic after eating Tootsie Rolls. -

Exactly. TheDude, who are these "wrong girls"? I don't actually want to read the answer because there are no wrong girls. Most of the people on this forum are respectful toward women (and some of us even are women). Is that too PC for you? -
I'd recommend finding a great artist whose style you love, saving up, and paying whatever it costs to get good work. Break it into smaller sessions if you can't afford it all in one. Penny pinching with tattoos could just land you with bigger tattoos that you don't like. I understand being on a budget, I'm on one, too, but good tattoos are a priority for me up there with mortgage and groceries :-).

Ha! I took the survey and was totally baffled by that one...and the how many do you have upper arm ___ lower arm ___. When it's a sleeve it's just 1...but...I had one already that became in corporated in one sleeve and 2 that became incorporated in the other sleeve...so is that 2 and 3? Or 1 and 1? OH THE MATH, IT'S HURTING MY BRAIN! I only teach kindergarten, we don't go into these types of mathematical dilemmas. ;)

So as it turns out, Kim had to change the date of our appointment this Saturday so our little family will be there. If anyone sees us, say hi. I will try to wear my LST shirt, but if it's cold it'll be covered up by a sweatshirt... -
Long sleeve shirts are pretty great for covering tattoos at work. I imagine that makeup would get all over the place and be nothing but a pita. I bought some solid black sleeves to wear under 3/4 or shorter sleeved shirts but they turned out to be lame (pic below). The smallest size was too loose on my arms, so they would fall down from the top. They looked weird, too. They might do the trick for some, though. Regular shirts are fine. In the hotter months, light weight ls shirts are perfect, they protect your tattoos from the sun and cover them at work. Once I'm in my classroom, I sometimes pull up my sleeves if it's hot, but my boss has never seen my tattoos.

You can be disloyal to the guy you work with--assuming you aren't married to him. There's a whole wide world of amazing artists out there...but only limited skin space and cover-up-ability... -

Don't know if this is helpful at all, but it has been a fun trip down memory lane for me. The progression of how my nautical star changed... Based on your drawing, I'd say that the thicker line would not make it look better, but there is still hope for making it better if it's in the hands of the right artist.

Saw these earlier on facebook and said the same thing about Jackie. -
Yes! Have done that twice now..my simple nautical star w/my daughter's name above it on my upper left arm has been integrated into a beautiful tiger/lotus sleeve. And more recently, the little outline owl on my forearm is integrated into my raven/jewel/roses sleeve. Had considered covering them but went with what the artists wanted to do. Couldn't be happier.
