My hubby is not on LST yet anyway but I am excited about his new tattoo...this was after his 1st session w/Kim Saigh a couple months ago. I don't seem to have a pic from his second session but a lot of black was added and some cool swirls. Tomorrow he will get color in the flowers...

When I met my husband 10 years ago I only had 1 small tattoo and he had none. I started getting a couple more here and there. Last summer I got 2 tattoos pretty close together. He and one of his friends came with me for one of them and we all ended up getting one. He was 41 when he got that first one. After getting that one, he got the bug. I booked my Kim Saigh appointment for Feb and when he saw my beautiful roses, he decided to book with her. Now I have 6 tattoos and he has 2, but his second one is a half sleeve --his 3rd session w/her is tomorrow. So he went from having none and not even seeming that interested to kind of surpassing me. He is already talking about what he's going to get for his other arm. I'm psyched. I've influenced him and his arm looks rad. I'm really happy that now we share this interest.

I just got this for my husband for his birthday, too. He is about to go to Kim Saigh for his 3rd session on an amazing looking koi fish 1/2 sleeve. It's a beautiful book. I don't have any color tattoos and some of those pictures make me want one...

People act like idiots when they're drunk and they don't even know it. I think it's good your boss told him he wouldn't be able to drink there any more. He sounds like he's not a stop at 1 or 2 kind of guy. I do not consider my tattoo artist(s) my friends because I don't know them well enough and they don't know me...but I certainly respect them and think they are really cool.

I would disagree w/that. Seems to have caused a lot of wars and other inhumane injustices throughout history. I have no problem with any individual seeking anything that helps them to become a better person or whatever it does for you. But, I remain human without religion. Compassionate, even.
-
I'm agnostic, non-religious, and also annoyed by people who refer to themselves as "spiritual"...just a pet peeve. When I hear someone say, "I'm not religious, but I'm spiritual..." I just want to slap them upside the head. But I don't because I have morals and slapping isn't right. Also, I think I may have said that when I was in my twenties.

Job/Work realted tattoos.
TrixieFaux replied to IanBurkhart's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
Kind of. I got an owl in part to represent knowledge because I'm a teacher, but I also got it because I've always liked owls and think they're cool looking. -

I think it was 1992, I was 22. My boyfriend at the time said he was getting a tattoo that weekend in New Hampshire (you still couldn't get them in Boston where we lived) and asked me to go with him. I said sure, I'll get one too. I only had a couple of days to come up with something. I am not a Pisces, but I picked the Pisces symbol with the 2 yin-yang fish because I always liked fish in art and liked that symbol. It is small and on my stomach, black & red. I am still happy with it. It's a little blurry now but who cares, it seldom sees the light of day! Getting that first tattoo was an exciting experience.

Nokia - tattoos that vibrate when your phone rings
TrixieFaux replied to Ursula's topic in WTF in the News
what a nightmare! I keep my phone turned off most of the time for a reason. -
Except...it actually does change. Slowly. It already has changed quite a bit in terms of acceptance of tattooed people. Maybe not at M&S, whatever the hell that is, but some places. Tattoos are not universally accepted by any means, but where I live (Los Angeles) they kind of are. I have them because I like them and I don't care what others think of it. If I got kicked out of a charity event I was volunteering at I guess I'd be pissed. It doesn't really matter. She'll be fine.

March 2012 Best Tattoo of the Month Contest
TrixieFaux replied to Lochlan's topic in LST Announcements & Contests
It's hard to get a clear pic, but this is my tattoo from Kim Saigh @Memoir Tattoo, she did it on Feb 28th: -
Got this from Kim Saigh yesterday. So psyched, I love her. Puts my other tattoos to shame.

Possibly Dumb Question
TrixieFaux replied to posterboy7596's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
someone who is a "soccer mom" now wasn't always that. Are tattoos only for certain people? This irks me because if you saw me now (a mom, teacher, etc.) you might think I just jumped on the tattoo bandwagon when in actuality I got my first tattoo 20 years ago long before I ever knew I'd even become a mom. Many of us are drawn to tattoos. -
Does that mean he has tattooed this rip-off before, or traced a pic of the original? How would he remember it so clearly to do it under a time restriction on the show?

Not sure if Troll article or..? : University at Buffalo Op-ed
TrixieFaux replied to Kev's topic in WTF in the News
wow, the Spectrum gets some bad writers. "It's hard to believe that in 2012, issues like feminism, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and the inherent rights people have over their own bodies are…well, even issues in the first place." Really? Is that hard to believe? I don't actually really get his point because I don't think he has one. If that lame chick who thinks it's immoral to have tattoos can write her opinion and enjoy her "freedom of expression"... then, what's the problem with people writing e-mails replying to her? "At this point, I feel it's necessary to clarify my own standing on tattoos, because [blah blah blah]..." Um, no. Who the hell cares what your standing on tattoos is? "Right now, your heads and the multitude of piercings in them are probably bobbing up and down in agreement." Again, no, you condescending jackass. Oh boy. I think that movie Idiocracy is really coming true. -
I'm going to see Kim Saigh at the end of the month for my biggest tattoo so far, it will also be the first one that I didn't bring a reference, just told her what I wanted knowing she will make it great... Getting excited! It's an early 43rd b-day present to myself.

I'll take tattoos over high heels any day -- less painful. -

oh darn, she doesn't think I'm elegant. But seriously though...what does it have to do with values and morals? Ugh. -
I hate comments like: benny Posted at 10:28 AM Today "When i see dopes with tattoos i always think back to who were the first recipients of these dumb things....sailors and criminals." I can understand not liking tattoos. It's a personal preference. I just don't get why people who dislike them just don't get them. Why do they care what others do. I like the attitude, "It's not my skin, what do I care." That's how I feel about people who don't have them as well as people who have images I would never get. And where did he learn history? Was the ice-man a sailor or a criminal? Not that we know of.

I want a snake on my arm. Not a vicious one, a serene one. I want to go to Bryan Burk based on the high praise I have seen for him on here and looking at his website, but haven't contacted him yet as I will probably wait until my birthday in April.

Getting your kids tattooed / tattoo design ideas
TrixieFaux replied to Steve's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
I have a black & white nautical star on my upper arm with my daughter's name (Stella, also my grandmother's name) above it. I got it when she was 2. She is almost 4 now and she asks to look at it sometimes and says, "I'm the star of your show!" So true. -
There's some funny stuff in here but I have to say I'm getting sick of anti-hipster rants (not just on here but everywhere), especially by people who may or may not realize that they are perceived as hipsters themselves by some since the term does seem to cover a lot of ground. I'm joining the hipster loving backlash. But some of these guys in this thread don't qualify like the LV dude. I can't pretend to love that. These two beardos above with the shoe problem on the other hand...kinda cute....
