Seems like if you aren't that good or well known, it would help your business... but if you're already respected, it might not be worth your while to compete as one of the artists. I understand why the judges agree to do these shows, though. Everyone wants to make money.

@marymary I don't think there was any need to remove your writing or delete your profile... I was interested in what you had to say. Seems this article has people very up-in-arms, apparently there were over 300 comments on this guy's facebook page about it (my husband read some of them). It's kind of interesting -- he had explanations for all the differences insisting that it's the same tattoo on the same person. To me the second image seems over-exposed but I don't know or really care that much either way about that particular tattoo.. It does make me want to see more differences/comparisons between fresh tattoos and say 1 year later, 2 years later, 5 years later etc. though.

This is happening in Los Angeles, looks like a cool exhibit. I saw Shawn Barber posting about it on Instagram. We're planning to go. Upcoming Exhibitions at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles L.A. Skin & INK September 30, 2012- Janurary 6, 2013 The Craft and Folk Art Museum presents L.A. Skin & Ink, an exhibition that explores the unique role of Los Angeles in the Tattoo Renaissance over the last 60 years. The exhibition will move through the transformation of tattooing from its traditional base of military and outlaw cultures into an art form of great distinction and adoption into contemporary culture. The exhibition will be in view from September 29, 2012 through January 6, 2013. Through “flash” (tattoo drawings on paper and board), photographs, tattoo equipment, and related art and ephemera, L.A. Skin & Ink will feature several noteworthy artists and the stylistic movements that have helped define the significant role of Los Angeles in bridging tattoo with fine art. Participating artists include: Bert Grimm, Bob Shaw, Don Ed Hardy, Cliff Raven, Jill Jordan, Leo Zulueta, Jack Rudy, Charlie Cartwright, Estevan Oriol, Mr. Cartoon, Edgar Hoill, Lucky Bastard, Zulu, Carlos Torres, Sergio Sanchez, Shawn Barber, Camila Rocha, Sean Cheetham, and more.

Witnessed Something Awesome Last Night

Hahahahahaha and here I was thinking 80+. -
There was an incident at the grocery store the day after my first sitting on my tiger. I could tell this woman was staring at me. I looked at her and she sort of apologized and asked if I minded if she looked at my tattoo. I said sure. She told me it was beautiful and so I told her where I got it done. Then...my 4 year old exclaims to the woman, "You are from China! You're a China girl!" I was so embarrassed. I was like, "uh, honey, we don't know where she is from!" The woman laughed and said, "You're close--I'm Filipina." Haha, kids. I mostly get positive reactions. I don't pay much attention to people I don't know usually but if someone is really interested, I'm polite. A very cute and outgoing 3-year old boy befriended me recently, too, while I waited for my daughter in ballet class and he waited for his sister. We chatted about pets, zombies, games, etc. He said, "your tiger is cool." High praise coming from such a cool little kid.

Happy birthday LST! I joined just over a year ago...and have gotten my best tattoos since then. Coincidence??? I think not!

My mom found out about mine and my sister's on the same day--swimming at a family friend's house. I was 22, my sister was 28 at the time. My mom pulled a melodramatic, "Where have I gone wrong? Both my daughters have tattoos!" We just laughed. My sister stopped at one little one. Since I have continued to collect them, my mom has not softened any on the idea. My dad never minded, on the other hand. He says if it makes me happy it makes him happy. I like that mindset.

Got in another 5 hours on my tiger last night @Memoir w/Spencer. He put on a thicker outline, a bunch of shading, and white in the whiskers & eyes. Next session (in 3 weeks) he's going to add a couple of mandalas to it.

Sorry to read that, I was wondering how you were doing. Well, you may not be losing her... this may be the best way to get her back, but change takes time. I hope she will be able to turn her life around. In the meantime, getting on your bikes and riding sounds like a good therapy.

what are your thoughts on this?
TrixieFaux replied to Our Endless Days's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
My thoughts are she may not being going about things the right (or accepted?) way...but she will either sell her flash or not; she'll either become a tattoo artist or figure something else out, and tattoos will continue to be made, both good and bad. Her flash paintings (some of the ones below the Star Wars) look kind of nice. At least she's a decent artist. Everyone needs to make money somehow...I can't blame her for trying. -

Okay this is kind of awesome. For those with kids (or maybe for yourself) there is a really fun free app called "Video Star". You can play a song and make a video to it using different simple effects. This was our first attempt at making one w/our daughter singing along to her favorite song, "Ghetto Love" by Spinnerette: " -
damn, so many of you got tattooed over the weekend and they all look great! I have to wait until Friday for the second session on my arm tiger. It has been the longest 4 weeks waiting....

It was Cher. When I was a little kid (in the 70s) I idolized her. I found out she had tattoos and thought that was cool. Haha. But I had forgotten that until just now. I wasn't thinking about her by the time I actually got my first tattoo. I just read this quote by her: "When I got tattooed, only bad girls did it: me and Janis Joplin and biker chicks. Now it doesn't mean anything. No one's surprised. I got a tattoo right after I left Sonny and I was feeling real independent. That was my badge."
