  1. It's tough when there are basically two entirely different Gods in the bible..
  2. @Dr Benway, sounds like a great way to start! Look forward to some photos.
  3. Aw man, just wrote a whole long response and it got deleted! This is probably best for everyone.. Basically, get what you want, it's all the same story, religious imagery is usually prety rad, the bummer about Christianity is that they're still teaching the children's versions, so get a JC or Buddha or Vishnu or Baphomet and if people think that's all there is to you, then their loss. Also, @Joe Shit, sounds like you're having some success with reading. Last year or two I've been reading a bunch on.. various religious topics and, best case scenario, it'll explode your world in the best way possible.
  4. I'd bet that he's not gonna start booking out months in advance (weren't his words something like, "It was fucking terrible"?) –– I'd only guess that his days on the road will increase, so the hard part may just be nailing down where he's at! Also, don't get me wrong, great tattooing should be recognized and hopefully (if we're sticking with the example of Oliver) it'll expose other people to his work and they will come to the conclusion, "Oh, he does really fucking solid tattoos, lemme go get one from him!" Same thing if Shige popped up, you know people would go apeshit, and rightly so. I only meant it was the how of coming to that conclusion.. And makes me question if they ever wanted a tattoo to begin with. Though in the end maybe it only matters to weirdo spazzes.. i.e. myself. Because if a customer comes in and wants a tattoo, you can eat. Etc etc etc.. I've been awake since like 6 this morning apologies for rambling.
  5. I want to not care and shrug it off and pretend it's not even a blip on the radar, but I'm probably gonna end up watching at least one episode, then getting kind of generally bummed out like I knew I would. I think a big part for me, as a tattoo-getter, is when your average Joe wants to name drop people simply because they were on TV, and not because he picked up a book or your buddy's old magazines or tracked that person down and actually got tattooed. Or hell, even likes that person's work or could tell you why it's any good (or not good). Because it doesn't mean anything to that person other than just a name on TV. That seems to be hardest part for me to get past. But people are gonna watch the shit out of this show, so get ready..
  6. @Lochlan, that rules! Pumped to see photos.. and I'd forgotten that in this thread you could watch steak as he thought about it then went and did it. I feel like I shouldn't be so excited about it but I love shit like that.
  7. You'll probably sleep like shit. After all, part of getting tattooed is the awkward sleeping/showering.. makes it all that much more worth it in the end!
  8. Also, nice job everyone for turning the "dickheads" and "fuck yous" into a near constructive discussion! Shoulda thought twice before starting this thread, but glad it's resolved itself, dare I say, civilly.
  9. Got tattooed by Scott there last year, planning on attending again. So many great people working, can't wait to get tattooed!
  10. Welcome! Hope you can give a little insight into the new swastika symbol thread.
  11. Also funny, ManWoman is a friend of my brother-in-law's family! So he grew up around him and we got to talking about this very subject over the summer. He (brother-in-law) was amazed that I'd heard of ManWoman and was really interested in the idea of "reclaiming" the symbol. I'd say most of the tattoos seem like a genuine attempt to reincorporate or reclaim the symbol, but it's the presentation that can get people, to state the obvious. Seems about half and half; half a more understated, "respectful" design where it's incorporated more subtly, and the other half is the big, loud swastikas, which I actually really like but don't think I'm ready to sport myself. Also the wearer of the tattoo may not always be the sharpest tool in the shed.. Yep, I'd agree. I doubt most people are.. mature enough or could speak intelligently about the design. Even if you're an articulate genius you can't control other peoples' reactions. Personally, I thought about asking for one with my last tattoo (with some other background elements) but decided that since it was on my shin, I didn't think (and still don't think) I'd like to be in the situation where I'm wearing shorts and who knows who I'd have to explain myself to. It's funny, too, since I'd be willing to bet most of us when we started getting tattoos, a lot of it was wrapped up in doing your own thing or "flouting society's conventions" or whatever. Maybe not anymore, but I digress.. I've been thinking of incorporating the symbol into a much larger piece on my thigh so I can control who sees it. A lot of it is shock value but that's usually necessary for some kind of change. But that's a huge responsibility.
  12. Dude I checked in to see if anyone was still into it and got nothin!
  13. ...what'd you do the night before? Getting tattooed while hungover, even slightly, is about the worst thing.
  14. As always, thanks for sharing @ShawnPorter! Also, this is what I imagine future LST meetups to look like..
  15. @Tommy that is a great little storefront!
  16. ..All right, I'm gonna call it. I've got a tree to decorate tonight and some egg nog to spike, so I vote we try again in 2012. If we're all still alive.
  17. Well right now it may just be me and @truejew, so I'd rather push it back to a time more folks can make it!
  18. What's up Brian, I share your surname. Where are you getting tattooed?
  19. Fuck you all! 1.) Personal high of 2011? Wedding reception #1 party USA rock n roll! 2.) Personal low of 2011? Laid off. Again. 3.) Best LST Thread? SiRbLaZeLoTTTTT! (Ok, the Latest Tattoo one is pretty great..) 4.) Worst LST Thread? Bubbles, but that guy was great for entertainment. 5.) Favorite tattoo (on you): Shit, right now it's the newest, the buffalo head from Bailey. Also super stoked on the stars and dots filler from Andy Perez, mostly because I can't believe I waited so goddamn long to get it mostly corrected. 6.) Favorite tattoo (on someone else): Those Cripwell legs. I know that person isn't on the forum, but shit. SHIT. Also, @abees and @jade1955 get some killer work! ...also Ursula's dude is tough. 7.) Favorite artist? This is way too hard. There are a ton here, but I'm most excited about the newly "found" folks I've been introduced to on here, like Matt Arriola, Bart Bingham, Ron Wells. Stewart Robson. Still riding a small high with my Scott Sylvia tattoo. Bailey is a super funny dude and does flawless tattoos, no matter what your opinion of him is. Robert Ryan has been growing in my brain as someone I have to get tattooed by. All those dudes at Electric. Yeah, this is too hard.. 8.) Best/Worst movie: Best: MUPPETS. Worst: Fast Five (didnt see it, im just guessing.) <<<<< I'll leave this one. 9.) Best/Worst album: Best: I don't know shit about shit. But I've been listening to a lot of Koffin Kats FTW Most Disappointing: Mastodon, The Hunter.. some good tracks but.. I don't know.. kind of a bummer. 10.) Biggest guilty pleasure: That 70s show. Fuck that show... I always watch it.. 11.) Best show/concert you did and did not attend: Did: Descendents, Suicide Machines, X.. also unbelievably pumped for Lucero on Dec. 30th Didn't: Missed Murder City Devils. Again. And again. 12.) Sum up the year in one word: Mess.
