  1. LST: Bringing disgruntled/disaffected tattooers together over 3% beers in Utah since 2011. Good luck dude(s)!
  2. Buddy Brian Grosz is on his fourth or fifth session on his back with Mike Rubendall. Looks like he's been going every two weeks and, even better, he's started a little blog to chronicle the adventure. He also added a little bit on cleaning up/aftercare. Bodysuit To Fit
  3. I think they left out all the parts that.. had anything to do with Edgar Allan Poe. I guess the upside is that it's obviously not a bio, but c'mon.. a dashing, in-demand, well-connected and famous Edgar Allan? They've obviously done their research. The Raven - Movie Trailers - iTunes
  4. In my own experience, tracing is more of a hindrance because it doesn't allow you understand the use of space/shapes/composition. If you're trying to replicate designs like eagles or snakes or.. draw anything, it's worked for me to get the shapes down, and then refine it more and more. And then, Robert DeNiro said it best in Ronin: "Draw it again."
  5. Palms. And those dang burning churches that are all getting progressively worse since they're copies of copies. Ha, good call. Mayan-themed is the new cosmic skull.. especially over at that little cosmic factory known as Three Kings.
  6. It's up n workin Marcus Kuhn's - The Gypsy Gentleman - Home
  7. Well this thread should get some of us motivated.. http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/lst-announcements-contests/1771-monthly-contest-best-tattoo-month-january-2012-a.html#post25698
  8. Show was awesome, crowd was fucking garbage.
  9. Funny, that's the one (and the other spidey) that I keep going back and staring at on his page. And also the tiger heads of his.
  10. Can't wait to watch the Swedish ones, especially since I just saw they're on Netflix streaming here. Saw the new version, it was pretty decent, and I was into the story.. I guess I should read these books already since my shelves are lined with a ton of mystery/crime novels to begin with. *ALSO, the Trent Reznor/Karen O Immigrant Song collabo in that one trailer kinda sold me on seeing the movie.
  11. The wife got me a little gift certificate to 3 Kings, thinking I'll get to Matt Arriola soon enough for something. I'd love to start my back, too, but don't wanna jinx anything. Overall, pumped for this year!
  12. @ShawnPorter, you're right. I can certainly admit when I'm being a jerk and should've simply said, "I don't get the aesthetic and it's not for me personally," instead of basically, "Fuck that guy." It's my knee-jerk reaction to that kind of thing because I obviously make assumptions about the people that only go for hands/neck and, try as I might, end up making snap judgments. I'm sure the dude put a lot of thought into it. I'll be a lesson to myself here and apologize if I came off like a high-and-mighty-dickhead. I haven't failed to see that in the same way I'm sure plenty of people have made snap judgments about me. We joke a lot about the Warped Tour Bodysuit and obviously all those that go for that look aren't straight up douches. Or maybe they are. In conclusion, nobody's "doing it wrong." My own arms could be wrong by someone else's definition. Different strokes for different folks. But I still sort of.. wonder when I see hands/necks only.
  13. Sounds like you're over-caring for it. I wash it good once on the day of and use a really thin layer of lotion (Aquaphor is good) and leave it alone as much as possible. In the shower, I try to avoid getting it too wet other than allowing some soapy water to just run over it. I definitely never wash the tattoo by itself (other than the first day) since it's basically a wound. Everyone's different though and you'll eventually find what works for you. Also, do you have any photos of how it faded? A lot of times when people start getting tattooed ––*and I'm sure I was guilty of this, too –– you may not realize that a healed tattoo will look different from a fresh tattoo and doesn't mean you need touch-ups. There's a super lengthy after care thread that might help (or it'll just confuse you more hahaa).
  14. Same thought. Guessing anyone that took issue isn't very familiar with his work. Or life in general. Safer for him to just publish an articulate apology for those people to feel satisfied. Better PR than to say, "You're all a bag of dicks, go pick up a book."
  15. Had similar experiences, it's a weird feeling! Also, I often don't feel like "the tattooed guy" even though, for example at family functions, I very obviously am. It is kind of nice though to have the anonymity granted by long sleeves. Also, V/Gun made me think of "vagina weapon." .....sorry. I blame D for that for some reason. I truly can't understand that mentality and it would make me question the dude's motives, nice guy or not. I wish it was more complex than the instant credibility the person assumes they'll garner.. but seems to me that type of person has no interest in tattoos and simply wants attention. I hate getting tattooed the older I get, but there's no way I'm stopping and there's no way I could justify hands/neck til I'm older. And at least got started on my back. Hands/neck only seems like a red flag. Like women that have children's voices, or a person that moves five times inside of a year. Or a guy that says he doesn't want to tattoo his arms and gets his hands done. Red flag.
  16. Second for Murray Sell at Flying Tiger! That's about as much as I know about CT tattooers.. Also dude, start thinking less literally about tattoo designs.. check out some Japanese themes, or tough western go-tos, like panthers, roses, daggers, etc.
  17. Saw this on FB, thought, "Oh man, that's one of THE LEGS!" Then thought of LST and about posting it. Then thought, "Eh, I bet Iwar will post it." YOU'RE PREDICTABLE IWAR
  18. So we'll just start a thread about how everyone is tougher than me.. That's one hell of a tiger dude!
  19. Well, if we're gonna plan something this far out, we could always take over a small corner somewhere for dinner instead of/in addition to drowning ourselves in beers. We do have 4 months to plan..
  20. Lives of saints are usually pretty nuts! I'd like to get a Padre Pio tattoo somewhere. That guy was incredible.
  21. @Lance, your back is looking incredible! Not like you'd get anything not incredible from Jill Bonny..
  22. Funny, had a similar worry with my arm filler but I treated it the same as any other time and it all healed fine. And this year I've noticed my arms and legs getting crazy dry.. like ashy dry. But unless you're scabbing really bad and it's cracking, I wouldn't worry too much. Otherwise, treat it like any other tattoo. And if you're nervous during the day, find a stall, disrobe, lube it up and don't worry about it.
