  1. Man, the more I see whole torso tattoos the more I wish I would've had the patience/foresight myself! Iwar's is a good example here. So good.
  2. Ok this one comes right before the awesome panther head I got from Mr. Mario Desa. It's also, kind of a long explanation but figured I'd share anyway. The bluebirds were my first tattoo -- what's up new school -- and a few years later I got the heart and web from Dave Wallin. The birds had zero black in them and Dave tried to match the style of the heart with the birds. As time went on, I started getting antsy about the weird skin border I had around the whole thing. So Dave kept bugging me about it and I kept bugging him about it and we decided on roses.. rose bra. Now, since it was super dark, he had to go back and darken up the heart and add a bunch of black to the birds. I wish I had a "before" picture because it looks so much better now! I also wish I woulda held off on the new school bluebirds, if only so I could've planned everything better.. but what the hell did I know when I was 18? Dave also did the claddagh and the two roses in my collar bone ditch. How many different styles are going on here??
  3. Shit, just realized I never posted to this, though I know I put it up somewhere.. From last month by the good Mr. John Poverty at Goose.
  4. I love this one. Iwar -- that is fucking tough dude! Max -- hope you post more on the progress!
  5. Max, would love to hear the ideas behind these.
  6. Loch, hilarious! I live literally a block from the BQE. This past Rumblers show was pretty awesome and would be even better if I knew shit about cars. Let me know if you're comin up this way again!
  7. bigjoe, all great suggestions! I recently met Nalla super briefly and he was super nice.. Got tattooed by John there and did a little Q+A with him for a website SwallowsnDaggers.. you can find the interview HERE. Also, Dave Wallin at 8 of Swords is a good friend of mine! Dave rules!
  8. My good and talented buddy Dave Wallin just sent me this little video. Pretty awesome.. there's about thirty seconds of tattoo around 4:10 but the whole video is pretty rad and kinda nuts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZfWhu9YuCU
  9. Just saw this thread.. I'll share two quick experiences. The first, my lady and I tried a restaurant in the neighborhood we'd never been to. Our area is half young white kids, half old school Italian/families. This restaurant was an Italian spot and not one we knew anything about, just figured we'd try it. We sit down and our waiter had a pretty bad 'tude.. wasn't looking at us when we ordered drinks, came back for the food order and that was that. He ran the food and barely said a word to us. This was summertime, and we both had on short sleeves but in New York you don't even think twice about visible tattoos.. it's only when you go somewhere else (like when I go home to rural MD) when you notice people kind of staring. Anyway, a couple sat down next to us, kind of yuppie, dressed in khakis or whatever, not tattooed. Our waiter comes back out and gives them a whole introduction, talks about the specials, makes jokes and is all smiles, talking with hands and being the kind of affable that feels like he's making a point. Then he brings them bread! We were amazed.. We got no specials, no bread, no water refills... we flagged him down to get the check and our only conclusion was that he saw us and instantly figured we'd be bad customers.. so we were sure to actually leave a good tip. Still don't know what the deal was but we never went back. Second, is I was recently in small claims court and it was one of the few times I thought to myself, Man, am I glad I don't have any hand/neck tattoos. You can't control other peoples' snap judgments.. and when that person is a judge (ok, arbitrator) it seemed in my benefit to look as "normal" as possible. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to seriously consider some Everlasting Jobstopper tattoos... but for now, I just want bread and water refills like the rest of society.
  10. Woops, missed the reply. Moved to Ny in 05. Heard really good things about Savannah, guess it's workin out for you!

  11. nicky, looks good dude! Looked at the picture of the outline again and kept looking at the swallows hahaa. Fucking classy.
  12. Just make sure you cut em short enough to let the pockets hang out.. otherwise no one will respect you.
  13. New low point: I just said, "The more beer I drink, the more motivated I will be to join a gym."
  14. Ahh forgot about this! Let's see.. Personal High Point: Getting a publisher interested/asking my lady to marry me. (She said yes.) Personal Low Point: Not sticking with the fiddle like I shoulda. I'll also second Loch's "old habits" response... Best Thread: All the interviews have been fantastic. Best Album: I don't think I'm "with it" enough to answer this. Best Film: I did like Inception and with as predictable as Shutter Island was, I still liked watching it. Best Show/Concert You Attended or Didn't Attend: Wanda Jackson. Never smiled so much at a show. (The second Wanda show I left early b/c the crowd was.. unbearable. Like Bizarro World show.. but the first one was amazing.) Biggest Guilty Pleasure: 30 Rock. Root beer. Best Restaurant: Dressler.. always Dressler. Best Tattoo of the Year: Still stoked on all of em!!
  15. Dari, awesome. Thinking I may go down for it and would love to get tattooed by Scott! I'll keep on eye on the thread..
