  1. I like a vest. But yeah, probably can't do Brooks Bros.. one day though!
  2. It does! Was also checking out My Suit, terrible name, but looks decent. But I guess if I'm gonna get a suit, I might as well go whole hog.. Brooks Brothers anyone?
  3. Yeah I don't even know if those made sense
  4. Hey, don't wanna fall down the apples and pears with any old doogie howsers, etc. etc. etc.
  5. Really funny you mention Red Breast, was just introduced to it a couple weeks ago, really good. And what's more, my girlfriend will actually drink it.
  6. Completely random, but I need a suit. Are there good places in NY to get a reasonably priced, new suit that doesn't look like crap? And will these places actually help you with this instead of making you feel like a complete idiot? Men's Wearhouse, I'm not sure I could bear to visit again.
  7. Yes. I actually just stopped in at the Bowery Hotel over the weekend and the bar/sitting area is like straight out of the dapper 1920s/30s, palms and all, though with the dark wood walls it does harken to an even earlier turn-of-the-century time. I thought about these machines when I was sitting there drinking a whiskey. Downtown Lower East Side Hotels | Luxury Boutique Hotel NYC | Manhattan | Bowery Hotel, New York, NY
  8. I'm a normal happy person. I just need a few beers to get there sometimes. Also, I actually find that I am overly polite way too often, unless that person is an extreme deutsche bank, in which case I usually end up just laughing at them. STOP PIGEONHOLING US URSULA CMON
  9. I believe you would also need a cape, white gloves and a top hat. And a hell of a mustache.
  10. Makes my bowl of raisin bran this morning look like pure shit.
  11. Yeah, saw this one before and it just gets really sad.. thinking this dude has gotta either be on something or have.. some other.. problems.
  12. Speaking of Laphroaig, as the lady was out and about in the shitty, and as I was coming home from a friend's place o' beers, decided to stop in at the local public house and partake in a glass. And ran into like 12 people I knew. Ok, it was 4. BUT STILL, best "nightcap" decision! (D, you're lucky I only had one or else this would be much longer and much sloppier..)
  13. Well these are all WILDLY different! Crown Royal is actually pretty good, I just hate the bottle. And Jameson is my go-to for rocks. Man, I can't wait to post more about single malts.. D/Rory, I will have to try Ardbeg Uigedail.. may even take a walk to the liquor emporium this evening!
  14. Mel, Nikki Balls is in one of the True Love episodes!
  15. The longer you can hold out, the better. I've jumped in once when mine was about a week and a half healed (mostly done flaking) and it was fine. After two weeks, guessing you're done flaking and it's now just the thin, shiny layer? You're probably ok to jump in for a bit but not too long!
  16. How about Black Metal Robin / Punk Rock Robin?
  17. Jade, have you had Brooklyn's Summer Ale? By far my favorite of the Brooklyns.
  18. Yes, not a reaction, poor word choice. You summed it up much better than I did. I only meant that instead of shouting and protesting, the best thing to do is work at and create something positive. That this is the kind of high-calibre production that is, in its way, a kind of quiet "answer" to the other things out there. A wonderfully crafted, thoughtful, artful and very human piece that celebrates the hard work and unbelievable talent that is out there.
  19. Woodford is a great one, and while I'm not a bourbon guy so much, Buffalo Trace has really grown on me, thanks to the trusty barkeeps who keep pushing it on me. Rory, I pretty much want to sample everything you listed. "Trouble thread"..
  20. How is the Rogue? Had it once but seems like I keep seeing it more and more. Also, big fan of Pork Slap ale. And even met the dude who concocted the original recipe for it!
  21. Started a beer thread in the Off Topic section!
  22. Glenlivet is ok, an easy go-to at the bar and usually a buck or two cheaper, so good to switch to after a nice first one. ...yeah, it's really slow at work this week so I am all over this..
  23. I am partial to scotch, though, and it's dangerous territory that can suck up a lot of money quick. Top 3: Highland Park 12 yr. From the Orkneys. It seems to combine everything I look for in a single malt: a little smokey, really smooth but still some bite. The 12 yr is great, tried the 15 and it is vastly different, not into it too much, but a lot mellower with more vanilla (I think, tried it a while back), bit more floral. Talisker. YES. Strong and delicious. Pretty much top of my list, always. Laphroaig, just the regular 10 yr. One of the most complex things you will ever taste. Smells like diesel, tastes like a dewy peat field on the clouds in heaven. Really peaty, but unbelievably smooth.
