dude you can add almost anything to a skull! just think of like pretty much any other thing you think is awesome! As far as the skull + snake, yup it works, and real well too. I have one of them myself. The jaw isn't missing on mine, just out of it's proper place

I was going to get that too, and then without knowing my best friend did so I don't want to anymore. Then I thought about doing matching Jap flowers but my dude has that on his. So now I'm probably going to do a rose on one and a peony on the other.... maybe... unless I think of something else.. also thought about doing a tudor rose on each.. I tried to find a picture of my friend's knees and couldn't but found this from the same artist. His name is Stuart Archibald.

Apparently people all the way up here in Canada felt it.... I didn't notice anything, then again I was in a hundred+ year old house all day and it's always a little shaky in there... I guess it was pretty strong in some areas though, I heard reports of 8.5 magnitude..

A big ole flower always works well, especially roses or jap flowers. You could also go for the old sailor jerry standard and get and Elephant head, I saw one Richard Stell did that was the same idea but a wooly mammoth. Avery- if you are HeadOvMetal, i've been following you on Flickr for some time now, a couple years or so...

I'm just throwing this out there but I feel like this is another thread that needs to be either closed or deleted, nothing worth reading or getting back into here. -

Thanks for the informative post. It doesn't apply to me personally but good to know it's here if I end up working in shops again. -
It sounds to be like they were more concerned about having the person greeting people looking like a whore at work. Which I also think in any job other than being an actual whore is unacceptable. If they didn't go after other people with tattoos, I doubt they would just single her out for it. Unfortunately there are many women who are not smart enough to realize that you actually don't have to use your body to get ahead in life. There are many people who don't even begin to understand how wearing something like booty shorts can be perceived by the public. So sadly yes, in this day and age there does seem to be a need for rules like that if you feel it's important.
-
Just to clarify before anyone gets crazy on me, the comment I made about sluts and whores is not directed at every female who wears a tank top. It's just at those who are obviously throwing that shit out there and trying to have it seen on purpose. Also, I feel like if someone is getting tattoos just so other people will see them and think 'oh how cool and unique you must be' then you shouldn't even be getting them in the first place. I agree 100% percent with everyone who has said 'i go to work to do a good job and make money, not to look cool and show off my tattoos'. If someone has such a huge problem that they won't work somewhere because they can't show their tattoos, then they obviously aren't the confident individual they are claiming to be because if they were they would know that they don't need to be showing off tattoos or crazy coloured hair to let their personality or individuality show. It actually makes me really sad when people base their entire life on one thing like their tattoos. It's like the 'punk' kids who give themselves a bright blue mohawk and then cry about how no one wants to hire them.
-
Like Kev said if there is a policy about tattoos then you or whoever is the boss has every right to bring it up with the offender. If when hired there was no mention in paper or in person that tattoos are not allowed then you can only ask that they cover up and if they do they do and if they don't well they don't. If it's that big of a deal a company can put a new policy in place stating that tattoos and piercing must not be visible at work and then give it a couple days to get around. As far as women who let their tits hang out 'just so you can see the tattoo', well that is what we in America call a slut or a whore and they likely would have their tits hanging out even if they didn't have a tattoo. In fact I believe some get tattoos there just to have an excuse to wear a slutty top. If one person is not allowed to show their tattoos at work, then no one in the company should be.

haha Deb I'm sure by my reply you figured out that I also didn't realize you were joking.. anyways in that case yes spot on.. hahaha

Just thought I'd share the finished reaper I had posted before since a couple people seemed to like it. It's got the black edge around it because it's meant as a patch for this dude's denim jacket.

ah awesome Jaycel! I hadn't been keeping up with that thread like i apparently should have! I'm glad they did that, hopefully in the future people will actually take that advice. Maybe it hadn't kicked in when the chick who started this thread signed up, or maybe she just ignored it. Either way it's good to know it's there so when people post stupid or offensive shit in the future we can all go "read the rules like you were told to or get out" instead of having these threads that just go on and on and on repeating things we've gone through a number of times.

Shannon - im curious to know why you get out of tattooing ? What have you been doing for a living since you quit?

I feel like this would be a good time to mention that I, and I'm sure many others here, were at one point more of a 'tourist' with only a couple tattoos. I've heard people say before that everyone who's been tattooed at some point thinks it would be an awesome job that they could do. I'm included in that. It took me a very short time to see what a fool I was to think that. As soon as I realized what being a tattooer is I knew it wasn't for me but that getting heavily tattooed was for me. Ten years or so later I'm glad with the decision to dedicate my time and hard work to what I am truly passionate about and it turns out that even though I'm not a tattooer I can still be an artist and I can still be part of the tattoo community. I know someone said this earlier but you can become part of tattooing without being a tattooer. I still get to be around tattooers whenever I want, go to conventions and sell my art and work in shops.
-
Deb- I wasn't trying to say you were ;) For me it's less about who's making the money and more about how the shop is run, how the artists and customers are being treated, the quality of the work, an the proximity to other shops. Someone who actually knows what they are doing and is a non tattooer to me is better than some dip shit scratch artist who's ripping off their staff or clients and putting out awful work or someone who goes and opens a shop up where there is already good shops just to try an make more money than if they worked for someone else

I agree. I was talking strictly about their tattooing. I think if someone (non tattooer) has been working in a shop as a manager for a number of years they will have about the same knowledge of running a shop as some tattooers do, and more than some other tattooers. There of course are likely only a handful of people like this but they do exist I'm sure.

What I meant was your friend seems to be doing all she can to be black, she wearing the clothes and hair, listening to what's considered black music watching movies and whatever. Obviously she will never be black or actually know what it's like to be black. This person wants to be a tattooer but doesn't want to jump in and do all those things like wearing the tattoos or spend all her money to try and reach this goal. Until she does she will never know what it's like to be heavily tattooed and in my opinion shouldn't even be thinking about being a tattooer unless she's willing to devote a lot of her life to it. If someone is willing to teach someone who isn't even dedicated enough to get tattooed then they are likely doing it for the wrong reasons. So yes I guess it does relate in the way that they are both trying to be something that they will never be.
-
Yeah good for her but it doesn't really relate here. She seems to have dove right into whatever culture she seems to like. This person with two tattoos has not.
-
Because they obviously know what the fuck they are doing

Jut thought of something : on some other non tattoo forums I've joined to become a member you have to validate your account through your email. This requires users to read an initial emailed message and click the 'activate account link'. I don't know much about how forums work but I though maybe if we had something like that where all new members received an email or personal message here that they are required to read before having their username validated it would cut down on the type of stuff we dont want here. Or maybe every new member can be sent a link to the suggestions for newcomers thread and be told they should read it before posting.
-
If people would just read the suggestions for newcomers and use the search option then it wouldn't happen !!
