  1. 175 billion dollar tax-payer bailout in 2008. 32.6 billion paid out in bonuses to bank employees in 2008. Not one of the demands on that list is more ridiculous than that.

I feel that the bailout situation was ridiculous, or more like robbery.

  2. It'd be too big a jump. Minimum wage is supposed to be something that rises gradually, in step (roughly) with CPI/inflation. Just hiking it up to an arbitrary number like $20 would mean nothing but disproportionate rises in the cost of everything.

The list I was referring to before was this: Proposed List Of Demands For Occupy Wall St Movement! | OccupyWallSt.org Forum

Holy shit! Just read that....these demands are crazy. I say they need a realistic list of "demands" and have a focus for once. By the way that list is making me question if I am Republican.

  3. I really do a lot of research when I make decisions. It took me a long time to even realize what kind of tattoo I wanted. Apparently, before I started researching I've only seen shitty tattoos. I didn't know how awesome a good tattoo can look.

Haha I know the feeling. Scary how many bad tattoos there are out there. Sadly I might have research a bit too late.

  4. I was hoping Sarah McLachlan was going to pop-up at the end of that video, holding a Juggalo "Call or join online right now and you'll be set-up with a subscription to Tattoo Age on VBS and a link to Last Sparrow Tattoo Forum. Right now, there's a tattoo artist who's willing to help-your call says "I'm finally ready to pay for a decent tattoo""

Haha that would have been epic!

  5. I have learned 2 things on this topic since joining this forum.

    1. I dont NEED to travel any great distance to get a great tattoo. I have shops and artists capable of great tattoos as close as 10-15 minutes away and within an hour there are many. I am about an hour from Miami and just read somewhere that they have some ridiculously high number of shops per capita. I am sure many are crappy but there are many really good artists as well. The shop I have chosen to use is about 45 minutes from here. Like I said, there are plenty of good shops closer but I really like what I am seeing from these folks.

    2. I WOULD travel to get a tattoo. I think I have come across as someone who wouldnt travel for a tattoo in other threads but the point was more that I dont need to travel to get a great one. I am fortunate to live in an area where this is the case. But as mentioned, Mike Wilson and many others at Inksmith and Rogers is about 4 hours away and I was just told about a great shop in Tampa that is about 4 hours away as well. So even though I dont NEED to travel far to get one, I COULD and certainly WOULD.

I really don't NEED to travel at all since I live in NYC, but I want to badly, simply because there are some artists' work out there that I want. I also like the idea of a bit of adventure with getting a tattoo far away. It's a bit different from driving there driving home, go to work the next day....boring

  6. I found it kind of funny that where I am currently working in NYC (wall street) and was sitting in the middle of the protest before "it got big" eating lunch with a college in the middle of the protesters. We talked to a few of them. At the time there were maybe 75 tops.

  7. So to resurrect a thread....

Now getting serious about traveling to the UK to get some tattoos (currently looks like by Stewart, Duncan X, and possibly one more). Planning plane, hotel, etc...all very exciting. The thing I am wondering if any of you ran into was how do you send a deposit? I am lucky to live in NYC, with a lot of great artists within a subway ride away, so I always bring my deposits in person.

Also might hop over to San Francisco possibly in January-February (work/funds depending).

  8. First tattoo is still technically in the works at the moment (its been awhile). It is based loosely on Gustave Doré's illustrations of Dante's Inferno, as I'm a big fan of his work and love demons/death art. Kinda wish I thought it out a bit more, maybe shopped around a bit more but I was dying to get tattooed for years and had to pull the trigger. Pictures when its done.

  9. ChrisM - Many thanks. I too am a huge fan of the book and film, and Steiger is an inspired bit of casting.

Henrik - I'm currently living on Anglesey, looking across at Snowdon. Very beautiful.

Lochlan - Thank you for your welcome! I am living in deepest northern Wales, although I am actually a Londoner. I am getting work done by a not very well known female tattooer called Valerie Vargas at a little tattoo studio called Frith Street Tattoo. I am getting some tribal and a portrait of my dead dog (not really).

    Nice choice!
