Tattooer's Reference Libraries
slayer9019 replied to Lochlan's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
While I am no tattooer, I do have a stupidly big collection of art reference material. All of my ideas for current and future tattoos have evolved from my books. I currently own no flash books as of yet but will hopefully aquire some soon! Gustave Dore - Divine Comedy and also his bible illustatrations Rotten Renderings Juztapoz (Illustrations and Dark Arts, two good books Any Mike Giant book Symmetry: The Ordering Principle (a few in this series) Sacred Geometry Kris KuksiL Devination and Delusion The Dance of Death -

Right now I'm just dealing with the outline but it is scabbing a bit more than I have had before (could be the tattooist has one hell of a heavy hand!). It is also my first traditional tattoo with a nice big, fat outline!

Oh how I would love to do that! I have been trying to get the hell out of the business but I keep getting more money. I would love to drop the suit and tie, I even promised myself back in my punk days that I would rather die than wear a businessman's noose around my neck, but I guess I lied to myself. I still laugh when people at work talk about all those "tattooed punks", and how they will never get a <job, girl, etc, etc>. Maybe I can do some good as a tattooed executive type, break the mold a little and open some eyes!

Religious tattoos...on the non-religious
slayer9019 replied to slayer9019's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
Sorry have to use my favorite quote (actually my wallpaper) “Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.” (mix and match your own words as it is a translation) -
damn only a week wait? Somehow I always end up waiting at minimum 2 1/2 - 3 months!

Yea I've found Aquaphora for the first 48-72 hours then straight to Luberderm (normal as possible lotion). I normally wouldnt care much but it is getting crazy dry as with the rest of my skin due to all this dry air. It is dry enough to start drying out my cigar humidor!

the "faith" part of my brain must have broken at one point since I never believe anything without at least a hint of skepticism. Hell if I never fell I would say gravity was a lie! I also know a few literal Christians/Muslims. The problem is that the whole "believe without questioning" wanders to other topics outside of that which is religious, in my observations. Argument put as such..."I know your wrong...ME: Well look at this xyz....THEM: I dont care about looking at xyz....ME: But it is solid PROOF!....THEM: I dont believe you...ME: YOU NEVER LOOKED!!!!.....THEM: I dont have to, I know your wrong" This was an actually conversation (non-religous subject) -
And then a girl got this on her forehead..

Just goes to show you how funny gun laws are. Usually based on "scary" factor. In some states you can buy an auto glock pistol but NO semi-auto TEC9, based simply on scary factor not damage factor. I personally are for silencers (suppressors) as they would cut down on gun range noise and help save my damned hearing! -
I am running into a pretty serious dilemma. My tattoo is drying out really fast with the winter's dry weather. At home I just keep lotioning up like usual but all week I am stuck in a suit at work and it is simply crazy to keep disrobing myself constantly to keep this sucker hydrated. Any options other than keep taking my jacket and shirt off every few hours?

One of the reasons I have and still am considering VT as a possible place to live, but until then I will live under the ridiculous laws of NJ. -
The Swastika symbol in tattoos
slayer9019 replied to Iwar's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
That is epic! I found the wordy approach gets annoying after about the first 2 weeks of having such a tattoo (at least for me), after that I just say something similar. Thank god for winter!!! -
AHHH thanks for using the proper terms for these. One of the guys who tattooed me used these things when he Saran-wrapped me up and I could never figured out what they were called. Thanks!

Well...already got the Doré, actually as my first tattoo. It ended up being a mashup of the Inferno. Not exactly ecstatic about the outcome but eh first tattoo. The guy did at least do the whole thing single needle to get a ton of detail in there. I am still looking into the possiblity of getting another Doré tattoo, but I need to consider how fine-line stuff ages. Here is a small piece of it : -
Anyone else have pictures of accurate tattoos?

Not as of yet. I have yet to decide on an artist, but the front-runner seems to be Ducan X. I feel it needs to be the perfect artist that can capture the styling before I commit, since the Gustave Doré tattoo I have did not fall true enough to form. I own a few copies of the Dance of Death, and am still trying to find an original leaf to buy, but that looks damned near impossible! -

While I git quite a few not all of them are awesome (damned nj gun laws). Bunch of pump shotguns, colt magnums, ar15. I'm dying for a 1911 gov, just waiting for the corrupt state of nj to get me my purchase permit. :( -

Yea Abrahamic religions (Christian, Judaism, and Islamic religions and their spin-offs) do have that fear thing down pat, this has part to do with the fact that they all branched off from the same thing! The problem comes down to how you "read" any of these faiths. If literal, you will lead an interesting life (in the bible if a woman cheats on her husband she gets stoned to death, if you cut your beard you are damned, etc etc) or you can do what a lot of the Christian sects do and interpret the Bible (or insert any religious texts), under the assumption that it was written for the morals and depends on stories/ideas that generally shape your ideals, not to be read as literal. Also the Catholic church has been a very rich entity for a very long time. (Just check out Vatican City!! It is fuckin gorgeous!) -
These are great ideas! I say tiger in pounce mode infront of a shield?

This is a very true statement. There a a lot of very very talented artists that are not untouchable/famous. Hello I know NYC is right around the corner from me and there are a ton of amazing guys (some if not a lot are better than the tattoo tv stars of today)
