A little Samael from different eras. brutal brutal metal
-
Agreed! I'm glad they aren't like a lot of bands that change for the worse as time goes on (metallica prime example)
-
So I stopped by yesterday and met up with @gougetheeyes. We thought it would be a good idea to try to get this meet up going every once in a while so I propose that we try another meetup the week of April 6th. I talked to @Reyeslv and he said he would be in the area during that week. @Jack, @Bauzzza, @LeoKraft, @G.Uristti, @Joe Shit, @The Hyena you think you guys could make it out?

Yea it is very good to establish a loose budget. The way I go into getting a tattoo is guesstimate the cost (say $500) then add on another sessions cost incase it runs over budget. That is the ideal way in my opinion, so you don't end up watching the clock while getting tattooed. I ended up doing that once, and it was terrible! Make sure you got at least another hours pay with you just in case!

I can only assume there are at least a few LSTers who love metal. What are your current top bands? "

This kinda reminded me of a tattoo I saw on Tim Lehi's blog

It's funny that you posted this today since I just a similar conversation with @gougetheeyes yesterday. He pointed out that I have a ton of free space left and you dont really realize how much space you do have. While I still might take a quick "break" towards the end of the year I am looking to travel a bit out of my area in the future, possibly trying to plan a trip out to Cali in the later months/very beginning of next year. I spoke to my friend who is about 30 now and he said that he is starting to race a bit to get the tattoos he wants now because he doesn't really like sitting for that long anymore.

I would say the only way to get a "real" black metal tattoo" would be some kind of stick and poke. This is of course if your are a "true black metal fan" as low production quality is better. I joke, but seriously that is some pretty black metal stuff there. In all seriousness you should check out Uncle Allen. Dude has some unreal black metal stuff!

I would say wait and save your money. I am really happy that I waited till I had an "unlimited" budget so that money didn't ended up effecting the end product even if it was just down to a smaller design. In the end it is permanent and you don't want to do a cover up on cover up!

Leaving the city now. Will be there later

Who have/do you get tattooed by?
slayer9019 replied to slayer9019's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I did forget to mention who I was tattooed by... Paulino origionally from Milan (now Rising Dragon NYC) Regino Gonzalez (multiple) and in a few weeks, our own @Stewart Robson I know I have a very short list now but thanks to LST I have a too many artist to book in the future! -
I seem to have not run across this thread yet so I decided to start it. I know that there is a large group on this forum who get tattooed by a list of tattooers from all over, and there are some who stick to one or two people. Who do you get tattooed by and if you get tattooed by just one or two people why? I know myself I love the idea of having a bunch of great artists give me a tattoo with their own particular touch, but I also have an artist that I go for a bunch of other tattoos since he seems to nail it every time I see a new tattoo by him.

While I am far far from any kind of expert on tattoos I will throw in my two cents just for kicks. I would say that any tattoo show you see will almost 80% not correlate to the experience of getting a tattoo in real life. I will say that while the last few tattooers on the show were pretty good, I wouldn't say they are the "best in the business" (I know art is subjective). In my experience there is little talking during a tattoo, no sob story to tell them, etc etc. I've been in a TV show (shitty shitty MTV pilot) and I know how they structure the participants/events...its to entertain not inform. I would check around on this forum as there are a ton of good suggestions (hell I got a few good suggestions from here, and getting tattooed by a member in less than a month!). I would also run the thought through your mind if you are willing to travel and if so how far.

yea that was my plan. I always end up at a bar in NYC on the weekend anyway so I'll be there. Sadly I am a slave to my job so they screw me constantly during the week
-
@Jack and @gougetheeyes actually next Saturday I'm starting a new tattoo earlier in the day so after I go home to clean up I could always stop by

luckily in my case my artist has nothing to worry about since I fully covered all the time sitting inside all day so my tattoos almost never get hit with natural light. I would like to keep em lookin good as long as possible

@Tassos Sgardelis I will say this. The "arty" or realistic looking tattoos look amazing but I personally cannot see myself getting them since I feel they would not hold up over the test of time, plus I love the look of tried-and-true bold black, packed color...tattoo lookin' tattoos. I already made the "mistake" of getting a large intricate single-needle tattoo.

Thought I would update this since I ended up searching and finding my own old thread again. Seems that the original tattooer flaked out some time ago and it's going to end up being my current artist Regino at Invisible NYC. It's going to be incorporated into my already started sleeve (opposite side of my current lady head). I gave him 3 words: snake, skull, dagger.
