  1. I thought he would go get a good tattoo since he was talking about cover ups to begin with. One regret is not enough I guess. @Ursula thompson yea I agreed tattoos are not a hobby because its permanent
  2. I was also going to tattoo my feet soon. I have never heard of it being off-limits and have heard advice all over in regards to healing. Some say it was very easy some said that you cant walk for a few days. I just like the idea of exending my leg tattoos a bit further. Hell if hands are off limits might as well go for the leg equivalent! On a side note...anyone ever hear of toe knuckle tattoos?
  3. I remember you posting up in a thread about this.
  4. There is a events section above tattoo 101 LST Get Togethers and Tattoo Conventions
  5. that's interesting. I never heard of someone wearing a fake "tattoo", except one of those stick on tattoos for kids.
  6. Yea that was what I was trying to get at.
  7. Disclaimer: No offense intended. My expressed views are not a reflection of this website as a whole. After reviewing this thread (especially your last analogy), you sound like you don't really want a tattoo, you just want a "tattoo". I know that sounds confusing but it's the best way I know to say it. If you really wanted a good tattoo you would loosen your hard set belief that you won't venture far and you won't spend even a decent amount of money on it. It sounds like you like the idea of a new tattoo but don't care enough to actual go and get a good one. If I am correct this is a viewpoint shared by more people than I care to admit that I know. They love the idea of getting tattooed but could care less who does it as long as it's cheap. For them it's similar to going t-shirt shopping. You kinda killed it for me when you said you dropped 2k on a bike, but before you were talking about having to pay for your family... It's either you are trying to be cheap on a tattoo and you are doing pretty good financially or you are reckless with money and dropped 2k on a bike and now want to get tattoo as well. I think anything that was going to be said was said, and a ton of good advice was given. I feel that you are just trying to get justification from us here on going cheap, and/or trying to find a cheap tattooer in your town.
  8. While I brought up documentrary's on black metal, let me just drop em all right here to get em out of the way, and also provide interested people with a good 2 days worth of shit to watch if they find themselves bored. One that is missing that I liked a bit is "Before the Light Takes Us". Buy the DVD. Some of these videos are the the best or most "accurate" but I guess its all shitty opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h9XzRdFIhc&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_VTbr1WQm4&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjgri4YxsKQ&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4U33U_UyzQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSUmKubFIUY&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNN-ZnYg1Vo&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRTHzR2Pxro&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avnsgYvHPK8&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2fYugdY6P0&feature=channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfTELEFms_M&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmGahbVQwx8&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5rVKX-yZac&feature=relmfu (Too many videos, just follow the links! 13 parts)
  9. I remember it very clearly. One of my crazy uncle's crazier friends showed up and had just gotten a new tattoo. My uncle being the nice guy that he was slapped him directly on the back were the new tattoo was. Off came the bandages to review the damage...it was a fuckin panther crawling on a log.
  10. My "tattoo commute" is 1 to 1 and a half hour commute every 2 weeks. (NJ to NYC). I actually like go outside of my immediate area because then it feels a bit more "special" instead of running an errand like getting a pack of smokes from the store.
  11. Yea there are a few gaps but there is also a lot to cover and you have to "find the edge" and keep it focused to a degree. I know Fenriz is one of the (if not really the only) black metal guy that actual does a ton of intelligent interviews and seems to love telling his opinion music. I have seen other interviews he's done touch on all the missing topics. He did a black metal vs death metal and if I am remembering correctly he spoke about BM in Europe and how it relates to American BM. (Oh yea and fuckin Absu is intense, just saw them a few months ago in Brooklyn).
  12. I would say the 5th since I am off that following Friday. As for location, for now lets just say same place same time.
  13. Brooklyn heights leaves you at an awesome transportation advantage
  14. Yea us New Yorkers (or tri-state area...ers?) suck at making plans. When you do come out drop a line in the thread to let us know. Did you think about possibly looking in NJ (Secaucus or similar) to find something at half NYC money? I know NYC can get a bit pricey. Also, in terms of this/next year my plans are. Some more from Regino Gonzolez Stewart Robson (April) and at end of this year/beginning of next year to try and plan a trip to San Francisco, but we will see how that works out.
  15. In NYC like all prices it car vary insanely from place to place. On my way home from work sometimes I will pick up a $6 tall boy for the train ride home (fucking insane I know) at the same time, in the LES a bar I go to every once in awhile is $3 Guinness every day, at the same time I've paid $15 for a glass of Delirium Tremens in Greenwich (at this time the most expensive single beer I have ever purchased). So yea it can get stupid depending on where you are.
  16. holy shit really? My inner bicep was the worst place I have ever tattooed. I actually saw stars near the armpit.
  17. Black metal 101 with Darkthrone's Fenriz. He did a pretty good job with this one, but warning it is long, but worth it. While I pretty much knew everything before watching this, still nice to see all the history put out there by a very influential person (in the genre). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRNf_72h2LE" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGJKafk1Rug"
  18. While heavy handness sucks I still would go to the artist that will put out the quality and style that I want. But if all else was equal yea lighter
  19. i absolutely agree, tattoos should be fun! After my first over-thought, going-to-every-shop, price checking tattoo was done I found I was unhappy. Now that I go in and just say "hell I think a dagger would be cool" I found that I am much happier.
  20. like I said, if you ask "do whatever you want", expect that their might be the possibility of getting some crazy shit. I think BunnySwitchblade mentioned that this is why she has a few crazy things tattooed on her.
  21. That was quite interesting! On a side note, while I may no nothing about tattoo equiptment, I found it weird that the machines they were using were very narrow (tube?). I saw an almost identical machine in my two tattoo history books that my sister got me.
  22. I gave them a quick listen, they sound pretty good! Metalheads are usually the nicest people (if stereotyping by genre)
  23. Just the outline but I thought I would throw it up there Regino @ Invisible NYC
  24. Here is my outline got done yesterday Regino @ Invisible NYC
