  1. I think it's usually the fear of actually DOING it more than anything else. I remember my first tattoo was a few year struggle to actually pull the trigger. Earlier in my life tattoo shops were one of the most intimidating places to walk into, now I can't wait to go
  2. Better yet post a picture of the tattoo. First we will see how it looks as is
  3. a better example that I could definitely see being an awesome stickied master post would be 1) What is a good tattoo (I know this exists maybe just cleaned up in the first post) 2) So you want a tattoo.... (a first timers guide around info around first time tattoos)
  4. So did you ever end up calling up Regino Gonzalez for a tattoo?

  5. Being a big forum guy I have a suggestion that I have seen work wonders in the past, and I see it starting to get implemented here as well. As with a lot of times, newcomers sometimes skip the search or fail to find the answer to a common question or topic. To keep ideas flowing in a continuous thread stickies and "master posts" are created. Duplicate threads ended up spreading information all over the place and sometimes causes irritation to long-time members as the same questions/topics get re-posted a million times. I know that the edit button disappears within minuets of creating a post, which makes the idea of a "master post" kinda impossible, but maybe this can be changed. Example of a master post:
  6. While maybe not my place to comment on this as I am not a tattooer, but I have a feeling it might not be responded to due to the subject matter. I know threads in the past that relate to the actual craft of tattooing are forbidden here. Maybe a mod more qualified to answer can throw their $0.02 in, but I thought I would throw that out there.
  7. So...I am going to show up somewhere this weekend for a meetup. I know we got a ton more people from the NYC area, so just throwing it out there. I'm hoping some fresh blood can help make this happen! Plus we got a mod on the East Coast now, we gotta celebrate @Joe Shit @gougetheeyes @truejew @Jack @BradEvan @Perez @Colored Guy @dirbab @Adison Please throw this out to others that I missed in the area. I will post the location (or please make suggestions) for a Manhattan, Brooklyn location.
  8. Yes in theory you can query it
  9. Agreed! Also in reference to the original post. I think you might want to set boundaries for the future. I know most 2 artist I talked to will not do face tattoos ever and rarely will do hands/neck (never asked about content). I say only do what you want to. While doing your job means doing some stuff you aren't exactly thrilled with is one thing, doing something that you are really opposed to is another. I would say tell him you thought it over and you don't want to do it. Maybe point him to another shop/artist that you think wouldn't mind.
  10. This must be placed on your desk in case of @Bubbleberry infiltration
  11. Being the nerd I am I popped into the code on the site and did some quick browsing through the vBulletin manual, and found the following. Date/Time settings are standardized using the "date" css-class, which is pulled from local server time then modified by the user's registered time zone (or default timezone which would be PDT "Pacific Daylight Time" for LST). You can modify this by going to "Settings > General Settings > Date & Time Options > *Set Timezone*". Source: https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/options_dateandtime Summed up: When you joined if you didn't select your timezone it would be put to PDT. If you changed it, it would be your local timezone. To change: Settings > General Settings > Date & Time Options > *Set Timezone*
  12. and I thought I started big...
  13. I do have to same I am very glad I joined this site last year. I started here bare skinned, not knowing anything really. This site has really helped educate, and entertain me in a big way, as well as point me in a good direction with getting tattooed. I am truly happy to have seen this community grow as it has to what is currently here today, and I hope to give back whatever I can.

Secondly, sounds like you got a solid plan down to keep getting tattooed. Did you know who you are going to/want to get tattooed by yet? (I don't remember seeing anything in "The List" thead)

  14. wait...you sleep? I know I'm sometimes awake at 4-5 when I have to catch a flight or train.
  15. Disclaimer: I am not a doctor but it is sometimes fun to pretend Well allergies aside, you have to realize a tattoo is skin that experienced trauma (aka poked thousands of times with a needle) and then on top of that you put stuff underneath your skin and made it stay there on purpose. Now if we look at a tattoo from the bodies standpoint it goes as follows: Holy shit I'm getting poked over and over Holy shit there is foreign material in me now Wait...wtf why are you making sure this shit stays here! I got a bunch of scars and scar tissue is not like normal skin tissue. My scars change with bloodpressure, heat, wetness, etc so why would a tattoo be any different.
  16. First off...nice number of posts (Posts 1,666) I think that new people helped necro some good threads and also throw some new opinions into the ring. They also keep the Latest Tattoo Lowdown thread churning 24/7!
  17. For me I other than the stated environmental factors, I have discussed this with my other tattooed friends. When dealing with a large multi-session tattoo, you can begin to get tired of getting tattooed day-in-day-out. Towards the end of a multi-session tattoo I usually feel like "I want it done already!" in my head. My friend got to this point after a year solid working on his side.
  18. While I have noticed that the forums have picked up a bit in the last few months as far as posts, 520 online users at once means more people need to join/contribute. or this can also mean that people are only posting when needed so I guess it is a double edged sword
  19. I just realized every forum has their dreams and talkers. If you ever go to a Porsche forum about 75% of the posters (usually the heavy posters) never owned or will own a Porsche. I guess the same theory applies here. Live vicariously through online users and pictures.
  20. Yea I realize this. I'm a non-creative from a family of artists so i misuse terms all the time.
