    Tattoo Trends of 2010

lots of wolves and an elephant.
  2. i completely believe it. i went in there years ago to try to track down Chris Conn's info since he didn't have a website at the time and they gave me what they had and seemed very friendly. but it's like when i met Henry Rollins for my first time, even though i had heard nothing but good things from other people who had met him, i still was nervous because he's someone who's impacted/influenced my life. Freddy's work and reputation has also made an impression on me so it's the same sort of nervousness haha.
  3. i don't even want to think about the possibilities with the flushing toilet mist...
  4. Pat and i were just talking about the "mythic" quality surrounding certain artists, based on their involvement in the community and their work. Freddy Corbin has always been an artist with this quality to me, so it's funny how he talked about his own experiences with this. this interview kind of just broke that mythicness and let's me see him as just another awesome person and artist, so now i can finally walk over to Temple on a lunch break and make an appointment to get the lettering i want done by him without feeling like a lame-o nervous nerdy schmuck haha.
  5. i haven't finished watching this, but man, what a cute kid!
  6. i wore shoes after getting my ankle and my feet tattooed. i just made sure they were loose around the area or did not cover the area being tattoo. i guess this is easier to do though when all you wear is vans (breathable canvas and the option of slip ons).
  7. hi Petri, i'm glad that my post on photography made sense :)

  8. but the decisive moment is a genre, specifically a sub-genre of documentary photography. i'm talking about photography, both documentary and post-documentary, modern and post modern.

Lucero is also playing a small bar in Martinez Feb. 2... Already bought my Davis ticket, but that's ok because i hate the Warfield anyways. rather drive an hour than go to a venue that drives me crazy.
  12. i didn't even see this Personal High Point: trip to chicago and finally taking care of myself. Personal Low Point: spending months with chronic insomnia in spring. Best Thread: which thread isn't the best? Best Album: rape revenge 7" (yea it's not an album but i rocks) Best Film: Rocksteady: the roots of Reggae (this technically came out in 2009, but was shown at several film festivals in the states this year, and i happened to have attended one of them) Best Show/Concert You Attended or Didn't: attended: CocoRosie at the Regency in June. mindblowing good. Biggest Guilty Pleasure: nori. Best Restaurant: if meaning a restaurant that opened this year, then Flaco's. Best Tattoo of the Year: don't make me choose between Mario and Nick.
  13. Awesome Ross! i'll keep it in mind as i make my summer plans.

  14. can i just say that i love CW? i remember going into the archive once while it was here in Berkeley, pre-tattooed days, riding my bike and walking in all sweaty. i just sort of stood there in amazement of all his stuff! he was tattooing someone (looked like he could've been a biker) and he asked, "can i help you?" in this kind of gruff voice, and i was nervous and squeaked out "no, i just came to look!" he kind of shook his head, but kept on tattooing and let me stand there in awe haha. probably thought "damn, nerdy punk kid!" it was a 6 year dream come true for me! anyways, i've been in contact with him a bit over the last year, but i plan on contacting him again soon, this time via phone, and i'm hoping to stay in contact with him for a while. i may be on a plane heading to NC sometime in the next 4 months if with my research picking up.
  15. well, the sugar plum tomatoes are the equivalent of crack to me. unfortunately, i have to agree with this, though usually my stash comes from south of the border.
  16. i have never been there but have heard nothing but amazing things about them. yes, this sounds like a terrific idea. maybe we could do lunch?
  17. i've been craving kale/greens a lot lately.
  18. Jake, i saw some at tj's but they were grown in mexico :/
  19. Jake, i completely agree with you, but with Inception, it felt like it was hyped up to be something more than just an enjoyable film. like i said, i have nothing against the film, but at the same time, a film that just cares about esthetic doesn't stop with a cliff hanger ending that leaves the viewers asking questions. it seems (though i haven't read this or heard the director talk about this) that the intent of the filmmakers was to evoke a deeper interaction and reaction than just sitting back and saying "oh that was cool." i guess i just felt like it was trying to hard to be something it's not (for me at least, but hey that's the beauty of a public forum, that these discussions get started).
  20. your work rocks! any chance you'll be stateside in the next year or so?
