    yes it was. i caught part of their set, but i didn't go for them. i wanted to catch 7 seconds again (SO GOOD!) and unbroken (meh). was glad that i saw 7 seconds a second time. hands down the most fun i've had at a show in years. i've seen black fag before. always a good time!

    just read this review: "came in here looking to see if one of these "experienced" tattoo artist could help me answer a simple question about tattooing. I am getting started in tattoos have some experience but had a small problem with my power connection and just wanted to know what I was doing wrong. It was a Thursday night and I didn't come in to bother anyone who was busy. I came in politely, cash in hand, ready to tip anyone who could help answer my simple question. What I got was quite an earful. The girl who came out to talk to me started up on how it was basically a disgrace to want to learn tattooing on my own and started up on how I need an apprenticeship. She said there was no way she could answer my question because I didn't have an apprenticeship (mind you I didn't come in asking for any "how to tattoo" tips). It was obvious that I was really inconveniencing her. I left very uneasy and upset that I had been talked to so rudely. There seems to be a level of arrogance with the artists at this shop. An elitist point of view (her words, not mine). In retrospect, she probably was just afraid that she might not have an answer to my question." now i get what Nick and Josh mean about the silver platter mentality. i mean, seriously? what does this guy expect?

    what's funny is that Lemmy actually doesn't look that bad in that photo. in fact, i'm suspicious that this is in fact not Lemmy based on my reaction to this photo.

    Yea it was AWESOME! thanks for coming out! i think we should consider this a regular thing. maybe once a month or every other month?

    i think it's a kid friendly place. the landlords of my first apartment had a young son (at the time he was 6) and they used to take him there on friday nights (he demanded it!). i've seen other kids there too. then again, i'm not a parent, so i can't necessarily give great advice on the subject.

    unless you've noticed something wrong with them, yes. i haven't heard from anyone else about who's going (though i assumed Dari was since she showed interest) and no one said that they weren't available except for D today.

    yea my ex-best friend lived there twice, once for 7 months and the other for just over a year, and had some large work done while she was there (a full phoenix back piece by Ton at Chopstick Tattoo in Osaka, also a chest piece and some work on her upper leg). i know she was able to go to one public bath house with her friends, but i don't know all of the details surrounding it. the ones for women are more like spas (hot tubs/hot springs, sanas, etc.) so that's the appeal in going if anyone is curious why one would go in modern times. i also know that while she was teaching, she had to cover up really well, in order to not offend anyone.

    possibly a yakuza bath house? or a public bath house for tattooed people? i know that women are not allowed in most public bathhouses if they are tattooed (though i've heard there is an exception for foreigners, either way, i didn't push my luck).

    Congrats Jeff! no problem if you can't make it, as i'm sure we'll have more. just thought i'd extend the invite. and after more thinking about it, i think neo-classical would be the appropriate term, but i'm not a critic and only an amateur historian at this point (hopefully soon to be professional) so i don't think the term will really catch on, and there maybe other's already establishing genre terminology.

    the director of the museum didn't know of my tattoos until recently, when she was talking to another colleague about my work and said something along the lines of "but i don't know why Robin is interested in tattoos, it's not like she has any." the other colleague was like "ummm, yes she does." it's not a secret, but i tried to keep them cover up because they get distracting, or i get questions about if i believe in jesus.

    was that the Oscar Grant benefit? they played a killer show a few months before at the Fillmore. seeing AA Bondy live over the summer changed my opinion of him from good to phenomenal. one of the best acts I've seen. missed Sleep though at FYF. was totally not digging the hipsters or the heat, so i decided to bounce and get some vegan ice cream and hella grub before going to another show my friend's band played. was worth it in my book.

    this is making me want shaker lemon pie... thinking about making some vegan candies, namely buckeyes and chocolate covered salted caramel shortbread squares. the next SF Vegan Bakesale is coming up so that'll give me an opportunity. i also want to attempt to make a vegan Bûche de Noël. we'll see what happens.
