  1. The only people i recognize is Matt Howse, Ms Mikki, The tattoo emporium, A couple shops from around Seattle, and Black Shamrock Tattoo from California. Nobody I couldn't go get tattooed by on any other week, or at the Portland show besides Jack Rudy and Matt and I think Matt is going to tattoo me after the convention in Portland (hopefully).
  2. I am going to start a thread, who is more metal? Lemmy or Justin Beiber? I haven't read this thread so I don't know what was said, and have no issues with Ami, but the idea that this thread was even stared in and of itself was grounds for kicking out Bubbleberry.
  3. Totally Tom of Finland. or a Merman.
  4. Nice to see you on here Lucky, heard a lot about you from Ashley Howell, also I got tattooed by Justin Dion before he moved over to Anatomy. You guys do really cool tattoos, welcome to the forum.
  5. As much as getting tattooed hurts, I feel like it's the easy part. I am more worried about my knee being 3 times the size and trying to work or chase around my toddler. Oh well #lstproblems
  6. two kneecaps and one foot are what I have left to collect. some other tiny spots, but those are the only decent spots I have. My Last spot on my upper Leg is going to Matt Arriola in a couple weeks. I just found out about someone guest spotting in my city in August and don't think I can pass it up, now to figure out if I want to do a kneecap or a foot.
  7. @Eilin congrats, and to think you haven't even entered your Conn tattoo yet, that has to be a favorite already for June. @ironchef you are most certainly winning at life with that sleeve.
  8. We were all studying this tattoo at the shop yesterday, amazing tattoo, i trip on the background and the lightning. It's perfect and IMO should have won this month
  9. You guys are crazy. If I'm traveling I'm coming home with a tattoo. I wish getting tattooed was like restaurants, even the busy ones you can usually get a table if you just sit at the bar with little or no wait, I know random, but I always think about waiting for tattoos, when I drive by Outback Steakhouse and see people waiting in line, and wonder why? It makes waiting months to get tattooed seem like a sane idea.
  10. We take deposits for all appointments, usually it's $60-$120, if it's multi session work the deposit goes towards last session, if you no show you forfeit your deposit, and we will allow on reschedule with 48 hour notice, after that any subsequent rescheduling will require a new deposit. I have had clients that I have been instructed, don't get to make appointments, because they are notorious flakes. I still take deposit for any custom drawing work, then they have to come in when they have time and hopefully there is some walk in time that day. Then once they prove they can show up for tattoos they get appointments again. It's not as harsh as it sounds, there are very few days, especially mid week where there isn't some walk in time.
  11. I haven't checked out this thread in a long time, nice work @Stewart Robson, as always,.
  12. I almost exclusively use the word tattooer. I don't think their is a right or wrong answer, and I suppose some of it probably has to do with where you are in the world.
  13. I don't know, I kind of dug that shark, maybe put a cigar in it's mouth put a top hot on it. But yeah I can see how you would be happier now.
  14. I have the Hot Doug's tattoo, the only problem is I feel like a douche because usually when i come in the whole family tags along and it looks like I am just looking for a handout. If I ever get a chance to go their by myself I will use it.
  15. I totally appreciate someone planning large scale work, but it would really suck to be with someone who couldn't just go down and get a tattoo with you on a whim. My wife doesn't have that many tattoos, but most of the ones she were the result of me wanting to get tattooed and her tagging along or me booking an appointment for her without asking her. She trusts that wherever we are going they know how to tattoo and that's enough for her.
  16. First of all I love where this thread has headed and I would like to see pictures. Secondly you couldn't be more right. A couple silhouette tattoos, maybe a bio-hazard symbol tattoo and some doc martens, I'll take that look over the girl playing tattooed pinup girl most days.
  17. Do yourself a favor and call Spider Murphy's and see if you can get an appt with Matt Howse for the convention. (415) 460 6979
  18. I think to some degree you have a point. At some point you probably would come across the "you don't love me more than tattoos" argument. I will try to say this without sounding like a chauvinist pig, but the problem I find is most of the girls I find that are truly are into tattoos are tattooers are tattoo collecters and they are so few of them, there are plenty of girls who have tons of tattoos, but they are either groupies who only date tattooers (Nothing like a STD from your competition) or part of a scene or they just have tattoos and maybe aren't that into hanging in shops or studying tattooing. I guess my point is I think if you find someone who can understand your passion and maybe has one of thier own, even if that passion isn't tattooing it could work out just as well.
  19. I don't think the term is douchey, like mentioned earlier in the thread you can act like a douche whether you have one or fifty tattoo and it's of no consequence who did them. The biggest thing I would say is just DONT ACT LIKE SOMEONE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND JUST BECAUSE THEY PUT ONE TATTOO ON YOU, NO ONE LIKES A NAME DROPPER. I haven't taken it as a negative thing from tattooers, cause I mean if you think about it, most of the time you choose to collect a tattoo from them and sometimes travel for it, it would be kind of douchey on their part to have that kind of attitude towards their clients.
  20. I have a big Pharoh's horses project that I have been planning for awhile, but probably not going to happen for a bit, with any luck we could both be getting one, although mine is a continuation of my back piece.
  21. It's a big step no doubt, I would say getting a chest piece is almost like getting a neck tattoo for a girl, in the sense that it's going to be visible the majority of time. I don't know if drawing stuff on you will give you the full effect of what it will be like. I would say if you do do it. (Yes I know I said do do) push it out a little bit, maybe make it a next year goal to get started. I know I don't really know you that well, but I can tell you have been on a terror to get tattooed because of personal things in your life, and you have been getting some really nice ones. I am not one to talk about getting tattoos on a whim, but visible spots deserve some consideration. If time passes and it still seems like a good idea, then it was probably a good idea all along. Regardless you seem to do good picking tattoos and tattooers so I think the piece will look good. I have been struggling similarly with getting my hands done. I toy with the idea of doing my knuckles and then I was convinced I should do the spots above my thumbs and then I was like well I might as well just dive in and not half ass it, but as of right now I am not doing anything cause I am not 100 convinced. Plus most of the people who tattoo me, either have no hand tattoos or have had them lasered off, maybe I lack balls to ask them to tattoo my hands.
  22. I am totally getting my knee webbed, just decided.
  23. Why don't people get Olde English anymore, think there has been maybe like 1or 2 old english tattoos have come in in the last year, but like pre 2008, doing that stuff all the time. I know why, it's because people have discovered the font section in Microsoft word, so they have all kind of choices of lettering that don't look as good to choose from. A belly rocker in Olde English, it the best lettering tattoo ever IMO. - - - Updated - - - I think I like all styles of tattooing, I really like drawing out script and I watch Ashley Howell draw beautiful script daily. I guess just feel like there so much bad lettering tattoos out there, because people feel like it is easy and don't bother to learn it the right way and because it's so popular right now, people seem to find the worst examples to bring in for their tattoos and won't listen to tell them how the lettering needs to be. If they listen they end up getting a good lettering tattoo, if not they get their bad idea, done the best that it can be, which IMO is a bad tattoo. Although I know going to Mike Wilson you can't go wrong with any tattoo, even if you don't listen to his advice it probably still would turn out good.
