Here is my dome by Jesse Roberts - whether or not this is a face tattoo I don't know. I'm the farthest thing from hardcore and would say nothing has changed since getting it. No big deal! I really liked the cover of the finger wave book so that's why I went to Jesse, as he painted it. I fully endorse people getting their head and face tattooed.

I guess I just prefer big, full coverage, with strong attention to composition. Getting a ton of small tattoos in my mind looks impulsive and like the wearer is trying to look heavily tattooed without all the patience, pain, time and effort of getting big pieces. A new banger every paycheck instead of a 6 hour session once a month on a tattoo that takes a year to achieve. But that was a digression which doesn't apply to your sleeve.
Thanks for the thorough response. I'm actually getting a traditional piece from him with no background on my chin, as I've killed all my real estate with big tattoos :-(

Here's the trick to Bactine: get the squirt bottle, NOT the spray bottle (spray can introduce airborne bacteria - if all you can get is the spray bottle then transfer it to a squirt/wash/Nalgene bottle). Now, squirt the tattoo using gloved hands to catch the excess, and rub it into the OPEN tattoo (linework usually isn't enough). Then let it sit on there for a few minutes, and then start tattooing without wiping it off the skin. Lidocaine won't fuck up your tattoo in any way and you won't OD. Note this does NOT apply to other numbing products, especially those with Epinephrine in them.
Some people spray a couple squirts on and wipe it off immediately with a paper towel, and surprise, it doesn't work.
This isn't a trade secret or technical information, by the way. I learned this as a collector long before I became an apprentice.

Nothing wrong with bactine. It's a staple and makes sense for all parties involved.

Although I see your point @Mark Bee, I still stand by those comments. I wouldn't walk up to a stranger and say that, but on a tattoo forum amongst cognoscenti, it's fair and honest. Now you've edited your comment and mine has no context. Basically he said I was being a dick to people with traditional tattoos - which was fair game.

Still doesn't mean I have to like it, dickhead. Don't have to be a great artist to have an opinion on art. I'm only a few months into drawing. You think you are the king of this place and I can't figure out why. How about saying something intelligent rather than publicly insulting people?

Looks good. I'd say go back to that same artist and have him design the rest of the sleeve and then outline it in one shot. That's the best way to have it flow.

Here goes. Head tattoo by Jesse Roberts. 3 sessions about 3-4 hours each, then one quick touchup session. Completed in about 2 months.
