  1. I've never been as a collector...no interest in getting on stage in a thong or getting tattooed in such a public environment. However my boss attends the Portland convention so I'll probably be at that next time around!
  2. Hey man relax. We still don't know what happened. Have you shown Kid Kros? Did you do anything unusual during the healing, like swimming, exposure to chemicals, fuck a hooker, etc?
  3. Doesn't look like blowout to me. I've never seen that. Almost looks like you have some skin condition that caused the ink to bleed out in those striations. Really strange. Curious to hear what the pros say. I asked my boss - a tattooer since 1989 - and he has never seen that
  4. I have a Thai mythological leg sleeve and hand tattoos. Done by IG: @fulltimetattoo back in 2007.
  5. Just wondering. I wanted to be a tattooer when I was 18. I didn't score an apprenticeship until 32. If you were younger I was going to say no need to rush it!
  6. I've noticed a few times that I'll keep washing in the shower working on a slimy spot only to get out and realize it's an overworked spot where there is a crater.
  7. Thanks @xcom! I figured I had to get a piece from my mentor (besides the initiation banger) so I found this in his sketchbook from 2003ish.
  8. @CultExciter nice! Do you have any photos of your grapefruits? My first real tattoo was finger dots on my wife and myself also. Still there too! Hand poked in the kitchen!
  9. And boy, getting the kneecap tattooed is so easy compared to my armpit/head/palm tattoos of recent.
  10. Thanks guys. I changed my game plan and decided to remove the wrap and not re-wrap, because I can't stand having plastic on my body. Plus there is very little to no blending between today and yesterday.
  11. I got tattooed today on my knee and am going back into the same tattoo tomorrow with perhaps a bit of overlap. I'm thinking I should wash, ointment, and rewrap a couple times, and come into the appointment wrapped, so that the tattoo doesn't start dry out and seal up. Any advice on this?
  12. This thread is for photos snapped abd uploaded WHILE getting tattooed. I'll go first. Ouch!
  13. Getting 3 hours done on my knee today. By Dave Richmond in Kirkland WA.
  14. OK. But just for the sake of argument, technique implies "how" to do the tattoo, and equipment implies what you use to make the tattoo (on your end of the machine, otherwise clients would be "equipment", which they are not). This is in the gray area at best. Anyway I'm no good at following rules so I'll give you the win here.
  15. Hey Man. You are going to get torn apart here so I'd run if I were you. But don't give up (on becoming a tattooer)! Go out and find an apprenticeship, and perhaps stop tattooing at home or don't talk about it anywhere near the pros. Lots of great tattooers started this way, however it's universally frowned upon. I started by doing crappy hand poked tattoos on friends, and my legitimate tattooer friends were encouraging rather than discouraging, and it led to good things such as me finding a proper apprenticeship. I've since said goodbye to the home pokes but it's where I started. If people had torn me apart I probably would have quit.
