  1. designing tattoos in photoshop and applying filters aren't good reference for someone doing the tattoo, I would bring in the original photo of you're wife or another design, v.s. making it yourself.
  2. I do free-lance graphic design, this was for a skateboard graphic, I didn't end up selling the design to the owner because, he was being sketchy and never wrote out a business agreement. I'm saving this for a skateboard art show tho. This was influenced by the 80's Powell Peralta series.
  3. lol, wow, I saw him last week, he's in Dallas for a little while.
  4. I'm interested in creating a wordpress, or tumblr and going around taking high res photos of good tattoos and artwork, while also interviewing artists/shops. Does anyone have any sites they visit that already do this kind of work?
  5. thanks for sharing, I like his work too, nice sleeve.
  6. I don't mean all cali kids are lame, I mean the hipster/trendy ones are, they are overkill on trying to be "different". I have friends who skate out in cali, and shred like no others. I don't like the term hipster to begin with, but the ones that are try-hards and do everything to seem cool are the biggest fakes. Here in Dallas, once in a while when I go out, I see suburban kids wearing fedoras, big glasses that aren't even prescription! /rant
  7. When I was a tattoo virgin, I didn't know what to look for besides that someone should have a clean style, and I already knew what I wanted as my first tattoo. What attracted me to people who did really good japanese and traditional custom work was the color palletes, placement, and noticed that letting them take an idea and letting them apply as a tattoo was enough trust in me to let a tattooer do his job. Now, it's a whole different story. From a customer stand-point, this is what I remember when I turned 18 walking into a tattoo shop.
  8. cali kids are fucking lame, talk about super trendy, feather locks, big fake glasses, wannabe hood kids, WOW.
  9. Didn't know what you were talking about until I got into the video. I laughed pretty hard that this "hood" "ho" had a goofy tattoo that looked like some kind of san rio look to it. Slang talk makes you sound mad intelligent naw sayin yo
  10. I would think that the paper would get caught in the rollers and rip when it's printing. Not worth it IMO.
  11. @ Bart - Yeah, I put his name on there. Do you remember meeting me at Homer's? And we went to eat some breakfest place in Houston with cory and homer, I was young then, lol.
  12. Damn you guys have an impressive collection. Mine: Nick Ley Cory Rogers Richard Stell Josh Williams Will Card Carlos Truan Casey Corlick (sp?) (works at Fine Line) Blake Harris Kevin Poon Eric "Color" Del Rio Will Card Tracy Lambright Oliver Peck Ben Siebert Tony Hundahl
  13. Oh yeah, you're work is awesome btw
  14. It was horrible waking up and peeling it off the next day =/ When I first got this outlined, I had a lot of bruises on my chest and by my ribs. This is gotta be my most painful tattoo, esp by the nose of the fudo.
  15. Is this online? Or did you see in person? I love Grime's work, he is a beast. I wish I could see!
  16. Wanted to share my torso piece, I don't have a pic right now of it finished, but this session was the 2nd to last before we did everything else. This was done by Nick Ley, and we plan on doing background on my ribs and fill up toward my shoulders in 2 months. We started this piece back in 2007, finished it 2010.
  17. Cool story Dan, I didn't know that! -internet stalker
  18. For those of you who have full scale back pieces; shoulders to lower back, shoulders to glutes, shoulders to the back of the thighs, would you recommend to someone. What layout made you want to get one of the three options? I find that it would make more sense to go to shoulder to glutes (ass) if you were getting something big like a dragon. Long story short, I'm about 5"10 and can't decide in the future if my back piece would be better from my back down to my thighs or stop at my glutes. I am planning on getting a dragon w/fudo sword...I would like to hear from guys that do big pieces. I already have my whole front done and need to get my background done via ribs and pelvis area up to my lats (front shoulder) to fill in.
  19. I don't know who does them "best" as long as it's solid and looks clean I like them. As far as style, I like Matt Shamah, Grez, and Carlos Truan's roses.
