This is a great reply.
FWIW, I'm 40+ and am tattooed from the collar of my T-shirt to the tops of my feet with very little open space left. Yet my hands and neck are not tattooed at all. I don't expect anyone to understand why I'm so heavily tattooed, and I'll tell you right now that you'll meet lots of people who won't understand why you tattooed your neck.
I'm not saying that you have it removed, but in the event that you want to open up your career options some day, you'll be pleased to know that laser removal has come a long way in recent years.
I'll keep that in mind! Gonna be a long time till I settle down with a permanent career ( just started college ). A lot can happen in 4-5 years, we'll see what happens though.

I think also many people here take tattooing VERY seriously, so a situation like yours is a little insulting to the art form.
Honestly I wouldn't go back to that artist, since he really should have advised you of all this and probably should have refused to do it at all.
I kinda understand now that you put it THAT way.
I guess I'm sorry?
-
Damn, ya'll had to do me like that?
-
I'd advise against getting the other side of your neck tattooed, especially if you're not actially interested in tattoos and not interested in how it will affect the rest of your life. There was a lot more rant here but lol yolo.
Yeah this will probably be my last tattoo, we'll see though.

Looks awesome!

Good tattooing is "very clichéd"
Oooooh youuu.jpg

You seem like a nice guy with a good attitude. You'll do fine.
Yeah, I mean I'd like to think I'm a pretty down to earth kid. 18 year old asian kid who goes to school, pretty shy and crap and also plays a lot of video games. Besides the tattoo, I don't think I've ever done something yolo like this LOL
-
Very gutsy, I respect it. Like others said though, it might hurt a little in the future.
Related question- I thought most shops don't tattoo hands/neck/face on people who aren't decently covered?
Thanks man, I'll make it work.
And yeah, that's what I thought too.

Well, it is what it is. I'm only 18 atm and have plenty of time to do whatever.

@TheAsian,
Been so young a neck tattoo was definitely a bold move. Here in Houston, Police officers must hide their tattoos and to my understanding neck tattoos are not allowed period. I could be wrong but this is what I got from my neighbor who is HPD Investigator. This type of tattoos I called "Life changing decisions" :D and I am not there yet.... I do applause you to take such bold move.
At any rate, Its cool and for sure different for your first tattoo! don't listen to me nor others, You do what you like and what makes you happy... :)
Not sure whether to be thankful or worried from what you just said LOL

What does the tattoo say?
"Love Parents"
Whatever happened to the good old armI feel like its very clichéd, everyone gets their arm done first.

Welcome bud!
It's pretty tame for a neck tattoo, so your future is still bright as long as you work hard.
Now you've popped the tattoo cherry, go get some body work haha
Just don't get a grenade on your hand as the next tattoo otherwise I will flame you
I actually wana get something done on the opposite side of that tattoo next ( other side of neck ).
Thanks though!

Yeah it can, I realize that. Although I plan on majoring in Criminal Justice and getting a job with law enforcement. I see plenty of cops with tattoos
-
That was pretty reckless. I can respect that.
I'm Asian too and around the same age. Unless you're one of those Asians that look like they're 20 when they're actually 35. Also from New York.
dude how did your parents react?
Haha.. man, the thought of getting a tattoo popped into my head and I literally went to do it right after. I'm sort of a see things through type of person. And no, I'm 18 haha.
My parents? Well, my parents got divorced so I only had to face the wraith of my mom. She was kind of accepting which was kind of weird since she had told me in the past to never get a tattoo.
I am also new to the forums. That's cool that you went for a placement like that for your first tattoo. Hopefully going to get my first in a few months.Yeah thanks man. Good luck on yours!

Nice to meet everyone. I've just stepped foot into the tattoo world. I got my first tattoo yesterday at Vagrant Souls in Brooklyn. Awesome, awesome place.
At the moment, I am using a thin layer of Aquaphor after rinsing with soap. I'm assuming I should switch to lotion after a few days?
Also I realize this might not have been the best place for a first tattoo but it was a spur of the moment type thing, lol. YOLO
Also, those are chinese characters which translates to "Love Parents"
Anyway, nice to meet everyone!
