knucklehead211 reacted to TexasBeauty in Howdy y'all! :D
Hey everyone! So I had my session yesterday and it was so awesome!! Tacifone I'm actually in the hudson valley/Berkshires area. Brian did such an amazing job with my tattoo! He really wanted to make this tattoo a one of a kind piece which I think he did that for sure!

So Sorry this is happening to you bro.
Take care and see a doctor.

Exile (either 1 or 2) or freaks in kansas city Missouri are both great shops, and I highly recommend Nathan Blankenship at exile 2. He has done all my work so far. A few hours from chicago but just saiyan.

knucklehead211 got a reaction from ibradley in My Flash Is Lacking
If you're trying to do traditional style flash, I think you need to start using way thicker lines. Also limiting your color range a bit. Pick something classic, like skulls, devils, roses, snakes, banners etc, and do about four to six variations on it, while keeping in the same artistic style (i.e. all traditional, all japanese). Sticking to a theme makes it easier to get your art across I think. Also, not an artist myself, just throwing out what I've seen on parlor walls.

Right? I always expected my artist to have it drawn up before hand, but most times he gets a quick measurement of the area, then draws it up. Probably helps that my first four were around palm sized. The only time I've seen him pre draw was for my calf sleeve, and I think the fact that I came in just to chat with him about it a few weeks prior helped, as he took the approximate measurement of the area then, and knew exactly how much space he had.

You could have it be a black and white pair of koi. Or any other animal

On day four of my calf and it's doing well. It was only linework this session, but I'm still surprised that it's not peeling yet. The area at the top of my foot where the tendons connect looks like it will be the first, if it happens at all. Worst was the first two days, hobbling around the first and then trying to wear my work boots that come to midcalf the second. Can't wait to deal with how it'll be when we do the shading. Then I think about the color and I'm like fuuuuuuu...

Whew, I didn't know if I could sit through all this. Even Nathan was skeptical, but I wanted to finish. We didn't get a full on battle scene, but I loved what he came up with even more, especially the detail in the drowning hand, the ship, and of course, Poseidon's luscious locks!

Up to this day nothing can beat this for me

knucklehead211 reacted to Dustingormley in Rotary vs. Coil
Ive seen guys use both. Most just tell me they use the rotary because it's a quiet machine. In the end, you're getting bunches on needles dug into your skin. It hurts and there's no way around that unless you use numbing cream (which is very expensive if you want the stuff that works.)
There are two things I know about tattoos for sure. Tattoos hurt and tattoos are permanent.
That's kinda why I like em

Indeed. There's definitely a place for this stuff, but there's no way I'd give em my skin. I personally think the shops that don't go full bore with social media, specials and adverts are a bit more classy. Plus it preserves that feeling of being almost part of an underground community.

Ok, this is my fat back after 7 hours. It is just roughed in and needs a lot of work still, but it's a great start! Go big or go home.

In twenty four hours I'll be knee deep (lol) in the outline of my calf sleeve! So pumped, just need to buy the essentials and I'll be set!
