Number 13 Tattoos. Anyone Else Got One?
Scott R replied to MGblues's topic in Tattoo Designs, Books and Flash
I guess it matters where you are and if they are visible but does anyone ever question gang involvement? MS 13 is a gang that thrives on random brutality, have alot of enemies and are spotted with MS 13 or 13 tattoos. I have seen more and more of these tattoos in OKC -

man your thinking about this all wrong. even if mike charged $200 an hr you will most likely get a much better tattoo that you will be happy with for ages. Also whos to say he knocks out your tattoo in 2 hrs while another guy may charge $100 but take 5 hrs. I just got my first proffesional tattoo after researching for months. If I would have gotten a tattoo from the same place my friend did I would have recieved a decent tattoo that took twice as long for the same money. I ended up going 3 miles down the road spending a few hrs with a great artist and getting a nice clean tattoo. I was lucky to have a good artist close but If I knew there was a world class guy 4 hrs away and that could be my first I would be all over saving and doing the minor road trip for it. I honestly think it would add to the adventure.

When I got a tattoo last week I noticed each artist had a small tipping sign in their station. one was "all your tips are belong to us" another "tips are magical" It goes back to what brian said about being appreciative and also standing out and getting better service. The girl who cuts my hair gave me her personal number and came in to cut my hair while she was on maternity leave. I am sure I get the treatment not cause of my rugged good looks but because I tip her a nice amount everytime, and to me it pays dividends. If i get a break I can call and she will get me in. sometimes I show and there is a big wait but she calls me next. With tattooing I wouldnt expect anything in forms of service but more of an appreciation. If it happens to get me an appt sooner because of it thats just an added bonus

I dont want to be a hipster mostly because It seems like a good way to get beat up alot but I would need to see animals as human examples before I wrote it off entirely

@greg Hoggs duelling tigers and just the right amount of bare torso with covered arms is definetly a bad ass look. I doubt that was the goal ,But when in doubt its best to look bad ass lol

Blog update: An open letter to tattooing. (also some photo updates)
Scott R commented on The Hyena's blog entry in Blog Updated.
very good read, I saw some cool flash of yours on David bruehls wall. I love the boxer morph. -
I think this sucks but is a valid concern. I do think alot of people especially in the midwest where I reside have a negative connitation associated with tattoos. This and the fact that alot of people on here are bothered daily about tattooes Has me in the mindset i will not get a visable tattoo untill I begin to run out of room or I become financially independant. Plus I actually want the tattoos for me. I have only shown 2 of my friends my newest tattoo and I got it wed afternoon.

Who do you think deserves some recognition?
Scott R replied to Iwar's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
you are correct tom, I saw some cool flash on Davids wall wed and it was Rons. I like alot of his work. We are very lucky here -
thanks everyone I owe alot to everyone here. I am still a noob but I feel like I appreciate art so much more and willing to go outside my percieved comfort zone because of the education I am receiving here. There is one huge downside, There was literally no pain so I fear that I will be spending lots of time and money getting alot more work at a frenetic pace.

yes petri its my daughter. I gave David bruehl a picture as a reference where she is cutting her eyes and puckering her lips in a Holiday photo. I meant for it to just be a reference and let him go off it but he drew the exact picture to a T. I studied it last night and must say I am kinda suprised the exact gestures come through so well on the tattoo

lol petri I made a funny here it is I need to get one of his pictures because I cant get the colors to show

Anybody Got A Good Explaination For This Question?
Scott R replied to MGblues's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
I dont think most people have bad intentions, its just ignorance. Today I was being tattooed and a gentleman came in and wanted a drawing. David politely told him that a drawing is done with a scheduled appointment. He said he wasnt ready just yet but had some Ideas he wanted to see drawings of. I honestly dont think the guy was trying to be cheap or rude I just dont think he knew better regarding an artists time and work.
