Welcome. Giving the artist free reign to do their thing is almost always the best choice. Unless of course the artist is not that good. Who will be doing your work? Good luck, 5 hours is a legit session for a first tattoo.
@bongsau That Santana album cover is one of my favorites. I would go through my dad's collection back when I was a pre-teen just to get a glimpse of that perfect boob, and then listen to Samba Pa' Ti.

Disclaimer : I am a huge "Dead Head", not your typical stinking hippie though (No offense to any hippies :) ) Seeing hundreds of Dead album covers, I always felt that the artwork was tattoo inspired or great reference for awesome tattoos. Here are some of my favorites that I feel would make good tattoos or inspiration for a tattoo. "Seems like the least I could do"
I'm preparing for the worst on my chest. So far my inner arm up near the pit was brutal, made me see red. My whole outer arm from shoulder to elbow was a breeze, my ditch wasn't as bad as I thought. Who konws maybe my chest will be alright. Back of calf near knee ditch was terrible too.
That is interesting. I was thinking about this because I have alopecia, and I'm missing part of my eyebrow, which looks pretty fucked up. I could use some hair filler.
Hello, I'm picturing Lyoto Machida standing under a tree. Not digging the idea but it's your body. If you like Japanese style tattoos get a classic image, and go big. A full sleeve for a first tattoo is very reasonable.
Many of you may already know about this shop or even got tattooed here already. I am a big Hillary Fisher white fan and didn't realize she moved from Greenpoint. I'm going to check the shop out when I'm up at Saved in a month.
New York, especially Brooklyn is loaded with tattoo talent. Here is Rose Tattoo's lineup. Opened January 15th 2015.

Good stuff Brian. I'm feeling like I should do this for my chest piece. I know it's not as epic as a full back but I can see this leading to a full front torso project.
Told my parents I wanted a tattoo for my 18th Birthday. They agreed but told me that was the only one I was allowed to get. I did no research on artists and ended up going to the Pennsauken Flea Market. I don't remember if the guy wore gloves. Probably not since he was tattooing out of a 8' x 8' cubicle with two chairs and some flash taped to the walls. I got a marlin on my back, the size of my hand, cost me 125 plus a ten dollar tip. I went back two weeks later and got a flower/flame design on my upper thigh, that cost 40 bucks. I was hooked.
