About one month ago I got a free-handed tattoo on my arm. It was all done with a purple med pen. No issues...

I am in the same boat... I am starting to get a bit nervous though,I keep moving around and waking my self up due to small pain... Keeping my back away from bed/blanket has proven to be one hell of a task... I do have to thank my wife... She has been awesome through out the process.

About a month ago I was getting some work done on my arm... While I was there , The artist next to the one working on me refused to work on a tattoo the customer wanted with some dates... The customer was not sure of the date "daughters bday" but he was telling the artist "I think is right just go ahead and start!!!" and the artist said that he was not going to start until he made the phone call and ask his love one for the date to make sure.... Guess what? The date the customer told him was wrong... Everybody in the shop started laughing including the customer... The customer thank the artist for making sure he was right before he started... Just my 2c, But it is the customers responsibility to make sure all is right before any works gets started... I can only blame my self if I gave the go-ahead on something that is wrong from the get go.... The customer left and while everybody laughed and had a good time the artist was pist at the situation... He just keep his cool...

I am an audiophile... As long as I have music or the shop is playing good music... I am mentally checked out :D

The more I get tattooed the more I find out that I really don't care for my surroundings while I am getting ink... Unless the artists talk to me I just want to zone out and block everything around me. Music helps me accomplish this. I know exactly what you are talking about.... Very painful area... I cant begin to describe so many parts of the back that are just way sensitive. :eek:

Well just reporting back my experience.... Breathing did work! I also found that relaxing the area works a ton as well... Now when I was getting down to the 4th and 5th hours concentration was not there any more.... TV's where loud and I was unable to focus away from the pain.... I had no clue that the back was so sensitive.

Welcome to the board. This is definitely a serious issue in my own opinion, and needs better attention than posting it here. Start a thread on the initiation forum about this. 400 dollars its a big down payment. I would talk it out with the owner of the shop and see if he would be willing to give you other options. But I am sure that some of the senior guys around here can give you a better advice. Good luck!

Out of excitement I open a thread and forgot that this one was meant to post about your latest work... 1st sessions. 5hrs.

Just got back from my 5hr back piece session. Looking awesome!!! Picks to follow up after the first cleanup. :D - - - Updated - - - Pic fresh out of the chair! 2 more sessions to go... - - - Updated - - - The next two sessions we will finish the rest and start the cover up of the neck tattoo and the yin yang.

Looks awesome. Cant wait to see it finish! :D

I get your point... I know the game... Is not my first rodeo... and I am in it for the long run... But it is the first time I get a piece that a small portion did not come out the way I would like it to be. I am no complaining, but just looking for options/opinions/ideas on how other people have handle a situation like this... To be honest you are the type of artist I would like to avoid. It is scary to know that if you do a piece and your customer just was not fully satisfied with a small portion of your work and it is definitely fixable that your take is "deal with it" Thanks all for your help and opinions.
