We have a kind of West Coast version. Some artists in the PNW and LA are doing larger abstract placement, but the drawing style is still more realistic. https://www.instagram.com/talleymatthew/ Any artist can do a guest spot. If you have a favorite, watch their socials closely for announcements.
-
It's a bendy place with thin skin. I personally wouldn't put something as structured as text in that spot, but yours is NOT bad. It will spread out over time to some extent. Don't freak out. That's just what tattoos do. I don't have any perfect tattoos if you REALLY zoom in on them, but only very very rarely is anyone that close to my tattooed skin. The best way to distract the eye is more tattoos :)

True story, a very good artist will take care of you. You are probably paying thousands for that much coverage from a top tier guy, and he knows what he's doing. Trust him. It is, like, his job. It is totally normal to say who you are excited to have a appointment with, and who has done your work. That word of mouth advertisement is their most powerful marketing. Some top guys don't even use Instagram. They are just known. I don't know if the color change in the text will show up, and you don't need all three slogans. You could really make the point with no text - you have powerful images already. That is what I'd edit, because it will get lost first.

My plain old ordinary artists do their own art work. I can't imagine taking a stencil on to a top tattooer. I can't imagine a top tattooer accepting a stencil.

Composition - those appear to have been done in the same style, probably by the same artist, and not over a very long period of time. The line weight and color values blend the separate pieces into a cohesive whole. Even that example has filler leaves, bubbles, and drops. Your pieces go in four distinct directions, so they don't have *something* that makes them flow. Four separate pieces with nothing to tie them together need more space. Tim Beck told me it is preferred to keep a thumb width between tattoos of different styles.
-
If you want to get a big piece, why don't you go for a big composed piece, instead of what looks like four one-shot tattoos? I have both - one arm is a bunch of stickers, and one arm is one complete tattoo, and I like both, but I'd not try to put on a bunch of flash sized bangers all at once. They are too close together right now. They either need space or flow.

I bruise like that sometimes, but it doesn't still feel warm a week out. I think it is worth asking about. You're not complaining, don't think of it that way. You have a valid concern.

And it is! I'm getting the red touched up this weekend. It just didn't heal the same as the rest of the tattoo.

Hiding a tattoo while it heals?
Tornado7 replied to HawkMacLeod's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
I wear my ordinary clothes - long pants, and sleeves at least to the elbow. I don't pick the tightest things I own while a tattoo is healing, but nobody would know it was there unless I told them. I've got one from last night on my left shin right now, safe under a pair of jeans, while I post from work :) -

Posting here because they're probably n00b questions :) 1) Tip on a barter? I have something for sale locally, and I was approached by a tattoo artist about it. I KNOW him, and he's already tattooed me (the unicycle fish), so I am not in danger of getting a scratcher special. I didn't seek to barter for a tattoo. My item is of a slightly greater value than the value of the tattoo, so he is going to give me the balance in cash. So do I tip? I wouldn't expect a tip if I was providing a service in this instance. 2) Tip on a touch up? I had some red accents fall out in a recent tattoo (the hard work horseshoe). It just needs to be filled in a little, and the rest of the piece is very solid. I tipped on the full value when it was done initially, and the touch up is free. I like both of these artists, and I'd go back to them for more work, so I wanna do it right.

Your skin healed over the ink. You can take good care of your skin (exfoliate, moisturize, sunscreen) to keep the tattoos in good shape, but they will always be ink under skin. They look fine from here. Nobody else is going to get as close to them as you are.

Speakeasy is a shop I'd like to visit. You have a lot of talent in your town ?

IMO the best traditional filler is more tattoos. Biker dust is overdone, and wind/waves aren't in the traditional vocabulary like Japanese style. Matches, snakes, bugs, lady legs, daggers - make them small and cram them in there.

First (and new) tattoo with lost ink and uneven. Is it fixable?
Tornado7 replied to newtattoo123's topic in Initiation
My single needle tattoo has areas like that, and it is meant to. It is part of the nature of that kind of tattooing. If you were going for a clean outline instead, you got a bad tattoo. Yes, it can be fixed. Have someone get in there with a proper liner. All of the lines should be uniformly thicker, and smooth. -
Yes it is possible it could also just be healing at a different time of year, or healing from a different artist etc. Try some cortisone or Benadryl cream on it. It doesn't sound like it is bad enough to go to the doctor yet. You can always ask your tattooer.

Only because I have a topless lady in a visible place - make sure you are ok with explaining the bikini lady to your future grandkids ?

Who are the really good tattooers in Denver CO?
Tornado7 replied to Dopesmoker's topic in General Tattoo Discussion
So much talent listed already ? https://www.instagram.com/ritualtattoogallery/ -
How long have you had that? It looks fresh, with the skin still angry. Let it heal. B&G softens up quite a bit. Yes, of course you can speak to your artist about your concerns, it is your arm. She should not get angry, and should explain to you what her plans are and show you a fully healed example of what she's doing to you.

That's what tattoo artists who work in color - do. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. Literally any shop that's got any bit of a solid reputation can do this. It is a color blend within two straight lines. The top one is blended, and the second one has some dot work. The straight line on a human body is the hardest part.

Y'all come see me ? It looks like all of the New Skool names are confirmed so far. http://www.tattoothelou.com This will be interesting, and different than out Lyle Tuttle jam in the fall.

Quit looking so closely! Nobody else is, I promise! It looks ok from here. It's ink jammed into your skin with needles. It will never be CGI perfect.
