  1. Thomas Hooper/ Chris O'Donnell collab from Hooper's blog-outstanding: full post here: Odonnell – Hooper, Snake and Skull Back Piece Project. « Hoopers Electric – Meditations in Atrament
  2. So far I have Houston (where I grew up-by Kevin Poon) NYC (by Steve Boltz) Next up, I'll be getting a San Francisco tattoo from Cris Cleen. I'm getting a Saint Anthony on the back of my other leg in November in San Antonio (where I was born).
  3. Here's a site that let's you place markers on a global map that the cafe racer board I'm on uses http://www.zeemaps.com/dotheton
  4. Ha @ Ms. Mikki-I thought of the same biker analogy this weekend (probably because the ROT Rally is coming to town-weekend warrior city) OT, nice Beemer = )
  5. Four days of reverse pyramid heavy weight training with a Crossfit influence and a "Bodyflow" class on Sundays (mix of yoga, pilates, etc). I've been going to the gym with a co-worker and I have to say, it's awesome having a workout partner to spot your form and keep you motivated. At some point in the future, we might switch to a more BJJ/boxing-based workout (my highschool friend owns a Gracie Juijitsu gym in my neighborhood). I like the idea of real-world strength; it's nice to look good with a shirt off, but it's better to be able to do something with it.
  6. Job killer? Maybe not; but it can stunt career growth. Austin,TX is liberal and heavily tattooed, but I still see a bias in the professional world against tattoos. I wore long sleeves for five months when I started my job. It was only after I saw that the owner's son had a tattoo that I wore a polo. But I'll probably have half-sleeves until I'm my own boss. Totally different perspective, but I have yet to meet a C level professional with a neck or hand tattoo.
  7. This was something I suggested on another forum, but never saw any progress on it. I plan on getting tattooed every major city I visit, but sometimes I'm unaware of who's tattooing in the area. A map would be awesome.
  8. I have been freaking everyone out the "Baby and Grandma's day at the park" video. Thank you.
  9. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding; I bet that was an awesome time. You could always start documenting some of that as a memoir or even in a blog-people love hearing about that stuff. A cafe racer forum I'm on has something similar where this guy shares his experience about being a 'true' cafe racer in England-very cool stuff.
  10. I think the original point is that there used to be far fewer tattooists in the past and now the field is over-saturated? Once again, I'd say quality over quantity. How cool is to show someone what a good tattoo looks like?;) "This too shall pass."
  11. BUT if you have well-executed tattoos, you still stand out. Quality still trumps quantity.
  12. I have one on the back of my calf from Kevin Poon in my Gallery. Not sure how to link to it though (?) Here you go: Calf ship tattoo picture by Kevin Poon
  13. Are you getting a tattoo of a nebula? I'd be curious to see how that's laid out, too.
  14. +1 on UFC tattoos, also major league athletes and celebrities. Shit tattoos on people with money doesn't match...or maybe it does?
  15. Another decoupage experiment-ink/cold-press paper on carved wood panel: Thanks for the likes on my first go round = )
  16. I told my Viet friend about this and he brought up a good point- phở is a "poor man's soup", so it's pretty ironic that it's so pricey. Sounds awesome.
  17. I can't take credit for it; I heard it from a much wiser person than me :)
  18. I usually find out about artists online through their sites, tattoo blogs, and forums. Keep in mind, speaking to artists, I find that most of the time, they're not updating their online stuff constantly, so their work changes. If I'm in a shop with someone and they decide they want something right then or I'm browsing stuff at a convention I look for a) solid lines b) shading c) color d) subject matter. I assume if you have a bunch of traditional or bio-mechanical, that's what you like to tattoo. Even if you had 'gnarly new school' or fine line stuff, I'd like to see your style worked into it. I would say 'no' to the art and other stuff in a portfolio. If I saw that, I'd figure you didn't have enough strong tattoos to fill your book. I also have seen lot's of beginning tattooers that are better artists on paper/canvas than on skin.
  19. Outward symbol of an inward change
