    Walking Dead

Yeah, I've been watching it. I have to say, if i hadn't seen season 1 and came into this season, I wouldn't understand what the big deal was. Waaay too much arguing about what they should do and very little action. How many times an episode does Shane say "Let me ask you something..."? I'd be like "Asshole, all you do is ask questions and then talk about how you're the only one that does things. If by doing things you mean screwing your friend's wife, killing off an innocent stranger, and traumatizing that's strangers family by shooting all their zombie relatives, then yes, you do things. Now go do your thing out there away from the rest of us." But that's me.
  2. Thanks, Big Joe- the man with the 411!
  3. Technically they're not the same squidpants- Cu's were clearly skinny jeans drawn in his unique etching style. Totally different.
  4. My .02-I do think a tattooer should be well-rounded and technically capable in all styles, but with the sheer amount of great tattooers in each style, why would you need one guy to do all those styles? Why would you go to Tim Hendricks for anything but an incredible black and grey tattoo? Or Chris O'Donnell or Trevino for Japanese? There's just so many people tattooing today, I don't think the way to stay ahead is to spread yourself across every style, but to choose one and excel. That may be a thread in itself, but I couldn't see going to one tattooer for every single idea I have.
  5. My sister and her family are living in Ansbach and she's currently looking to get tattooed. Any recommendations for good shops in that area?
  6. Damn! He looks very satisfied with himself in that pic.
  7. Anyone have a blog or Tumblr I should check out to add to my blog roll? @ShawnPorter- I already added Occult Vibrations and LST, of course. Here's mine for the trade: Fallingapartart
  8. We've been using Slingbox to hook-up to my fiance's parents pc out of town to watch Starz stuff. It's not true full screen and seems pretty dark, but it's been handy when we hit a roadblock on Netflix Seriously contemplating spending the $35 to buy Season 4 of Breaking Bad to be caught up by the time season 5 starts
  9. Katja Ramirez at Perfection Tattoo, ATX does some nice fineline:
  10. In before the end? Ace of Cups by Jaie Devore- Perfection Tattoo, ATX:
  11. Quick question: I'm planning on doing legs today with a 2 day old tattoo on my ankle-have any of you guys done this with a fresh tattoo? I wasn't planning on going heavy, but my theory is that working that area will help with blood flow and swelling. I've noticed on my vacations when I've had my legs tattooed and I walk miles in a day, the swelling is never as bad as when I'm at home sitting.
  12. How about this though- how does that pose have anything to do with a woman singing into a microphone? Like how the hell would that happen to her dress and why would she be standing like that in the first place?
  13. @hogg : It's a version of the Ace of Cups card. It represents spiritual/emotional/mental receptivity and fulfillment @cookietruck I was tripping on that panther and also the huge temple Agyo guardian with the flames in the other room. Not to mention the old Scott Sylvia straight edge flash up there on the ceiling, too = )
  14. I definitely didn't have the intention of creating any negativity or drama by posting this here. I'm aware that a good number of tattooers are not big Facebook or instagram and may not have been aware of this situation through there. The way I see it, something positive did come from this- a lot of people who care strongly about tattooing pulled together as a community (rather than a 'mob') and supported each other.
  15. GREAT experience getting tattooed by Jaie Devore at Perfection yesterday. I surrounded by so many cool pieces of art and history- having an original dragon from Ed Hardy's Dragon scroll project stare down at me while I was getting tattooed, not to mention all the other various pieces of art from various heavy hitters was something else. I also had the immense pleasure of talking to Bob Moreau for most of the tattoo as well, sharing stories about the old days, books, traveling, etc. Well worth the price of admission. Jaie knocked the concept out of the park:
  16. Not to be confused with:
  17. I got a brand new dance/ err body step back/ Tell me watchya gonna do/ (why it smell like it do?) He gassen'/ He gassen'/ He gassen That's all I have right now, but that's money in the bank with the right beat;)
  18. What slowed me down (and might make a good topic for another thread) is switching from getting tattooed by more than just one artist. My first four were by Ezra Haidet and I got them pretty close to each other time-wise, but when I moved to my legs, I decided to try and get each new tattoo from a different tattooer. This has broken things up for me as far as travel, scheduling, and some deeper thought about what I actually want. I still have quite a ways to go. I plan on both thighs, both ribs, and back being large scale tattoos, so each one those is cost and time investment in itself. Not to mention I have a son starting college in the Fall and a wedding next Spring, so there's that, too ;)
  19. ERT has some great tattooers working there. Personally, I hope everything works out for them. I hadn't seen anyone posting anything negative on the shop page itself, so I'm not sure why they didn't just take down the flash album in question.
  20. First, let me start by saying as a disclaimer that I, as an independent poster, in no way represent Last Sparrow Tattoo. The things you read that are posted in this forum are written by people in or around the tattoo community. My original intention in posting about this was to inform other artists and collectors that might have work being represented by someone else. That being said your comment about "The biggest shit talkers to come out of the woodwork on this matter were the significant others of tattooers" is a gross misrepresentation of what was being posted. What I saw were comments from serious tattoo artists that had spent time outside the shop creating original pieces of art for clients/ friends and serious tattoo collectors who also spend their time and money with artists coming up with original designs based on their ideas and input. People that were discovering their hard and personal work represented as "Flash by Sue Jeiven". On none of the sheets were any of the artists credited. Being a veteran of the business, I'm sure Sue would've been familiar with practice of signing off on a piece of flash with "Design by (original artist) drawn by Sue Jeiven". I'm pretty sure if the images had been handled that way, things would've gone a lot smoother. I think it's easy to focus on the "personal attack" aspect of some of the posts, but realize that to most artists and creative types, their work is like their children. Imagine how weird it would be to find out someone was carrying around pictures of your kids and calling them their own. *EDIT (posted after) "Sue is the NICEST and MOST APPROACHABLE person I know...if there was a concern over the matter at the convention, why not discuss it then and take care of any misunderstanding?...why wait to go home and start a massive internet slander spree based on assumed notions and etc?" The reason I can see for that not happening is that we were talking about MULTIPLE artists who were nowhere near that convention, that would've never have learned about any of it if their friends hadn't tagged them in that album with "Isn't that your design in the top right corner?" Mirror image copies of original work side by side go beyond assumed notions.
  21. From the Facebook posts of some of the people she ripped off, it looks like there will be a line out the door.
  22. I imagine it looking something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N70NkE4FmZA
  23. My thoughts exactly. I think people are going to seriously start considering whether it's worth it or not anymore. A lot of those images were designed for a specific customer in mind, which makes it that much worse.
