LOL-I have to slow down til after my wedding next year = ) I was inspired to post based off the ref a day tag on Instagram Doug Hardy and Mary Joy Darymple started. Basically they have a list of different things for each day and people are supposed to post reference pics for that. Some people end up posting pics of their own work (I've been guilty), but the coolest ones are real life photographs, lithographs, statues, etc. that could be turned into great tattoos or art. Thought it could be fun and abit more focused than the random pic thread.

Yeah, I never really thought too much about it, but a lot of people I know who skated back then got into tattoos. Chad Koeplinger even mentions the tattoo issue of Thrasher in his interview. Funny how that all works out.

I thought this was a fine example of something that could be "spun" into a great tattoo:

In the end, what they got after most of those guys (& gals) for was simple (to an artist that practices) anatomy and basic art 101, not so much technical tattoo application.

My first exposure to people my age being tattooed was early 90's high school. Some punk rock skater friends of mine had gotten machines somehow (pre-internet) and started tattooing themselves and others with tribal and skate logos. They were usually on ankles or places they could be hidden from parents, unless those parents read the yearbook, because there was a whole article in it about tattooing as a trend. The quality of those 'tatz' turned me off to tattooing and I don't think I saw a good tattoo until I moved into Houston ten years later. Ironically, I got into getting tattooed myself when I went with a friend to have his high school scratcher tattoo covered at a real shop :)

"Let me ask you something, man..." :) Does anyone else think this season's suckiness has to do with AMC firing Darabont? I have to say, AMC's execs have done about everything they can to ruin their reputation for good shows by haggling with with all their big hits' creators (Mad Men, Breaking Bad,etc). Idiots.

two other things: -The whole reason they brought that one guy back from town was he said he knew Maggie. They bring him back, and no one from the farm says anything. Whenever they were deciding what they were going to do with him, Maggie and her family were totally ambivalent. Seems like as small town as those people are, they would be pretty defensive of "one of their own", especially since they were so bent on keeping the local zombies in the barn. Made no sense at all. -With all the stuff they have going on around there and people doing their share, how does that damn kid Carl have time to wander around and get in trouble?
