  1. Sue Jeiven, a tattooer at East River Tattoo was selling "her" flashbook at the Philly Convention. I put 'her' in quotations because the book contains direct tracings of custom work from Ezra Haidet, AP Shrewsbury, Ron Henry Wells and others. The story first broke on Instagram but it's made it's way to Facebook today: Flash by Sue Jeiven
  2. Definitely-once I know what I want, let's do it =) I think out of the tattoos I have, only two of them have been changed in minor ways (lettering on one, a hand in another) from what the artist originally drew up. I'm not going in there to play art director.
  3. I Googled the name because I hadn't heard of it before. Turns out it's one of those touring deals (which unfortunately goes through Houston,TX). Sounds super classy.
  4. Yeah, we spoke on the phone yesterday to set-up a time to meet Saturday after 1. It's possible that it's all going down then: consultation/ drawing/tattooing (since the tattoo is smaller and not "full custom" per se). We'll see how it goes.
  5. The way he does lady heads and his use of transitions and colors are insane. Devout follower of his instagram.
  6. Phoenix Tattoo Expo ends after 6 person brawl Anybody there when this happened?
  7. This awesome Krak/Whitehead collab from the Known show w/ Bob Roberts burnt my brain when I first saw it.
  8. After reading @G.Uristti 's post in the "What do you do when you can't sleep" thread, I'd have went with a crossbow bolt w/ "Don't Sleep" above it ;)
  9. I'm going with American traditional; if I was doing Japanese, I'd fill out everything. I think these fit fine (reposts from various threads in the forum): BHR Grime Stell Peck
  10. Your brother in law looks like Hank Schrader from "Breaking Bad":
  11. My thoughts exactly-totally not interested in watching someone get drunk.
  12. Meeting with Jaie Devore Monday about a tattoo on my right ankle area.
  13. My favorite thing about RHW's work is the angularity-really different but not gimmicky.
  14. I realized after I read this that people would probably wonder what's up with the scientist dude getting chomped on-just tell them you hate smart people.
  15. Here's the deal- in about 5 years, no one is going to know WTF a hipster was anyway. At best, you can just say it's like a scientist dude because of the thick rimmed glasses. Going into a long discussion about why you cared about people that no one cares about later is just going to be confusing. At least with the naked "soccer mom" you have boobs. IMO the gorier/sexier the tattoo, the more it increases the chances your future Significant Other will be less inclined to see you without a shirt.
  16. Seriously though- As awesome as everyone you mentioned is, Elm Street in Dallas is closer to him ;)
  17. -Panther head with a naked soccer mom in it's mouth -Panther head with a hipster head in it's mouth OR -Soccer mom with a panther head in her mouth -Hipster with a panther head in his mouth
  18. I have a friend who's an old school graffiti artist that does commercial work. He has tons of graffiti reference books and typography stuff as well. I'm of the opinion that a great artist has a great library to work from.
  19. When I got serious about art, I started by redrawing Eddie Poferl stuff. Then I bought the SJ books, started drawing those, and redrew the Eddie Poferl stuff because I had 'cleaned up' the EP stuff the wrong way. IMO, SJ is still the best for learning shading and layout. Now I go out and find the stuff they referenced in the first place and redraw it for efficiency of line. It may sound weird for a non-tattoo artist to go through this process, but when it came to learning how to draw and paint powerful images, there isn't a system that works as well this has for me.
  20. My ex worked at this booth in the mall when we were in high school called Crazee Wear and all they sold were Rex Kwan Do pants. She had to wear them while she was working; I'm pretty sure if she had wore them all the time, my son wouldn't be here today.
  21. The deadlift is powerful mojo. I went years without doing it and it seriously changed my life when I started.
  22. I'm only planning on going from top of shoulders to tailbone-no ass tatts for me. At this point in planning, it's a Battle Royale, so I think it'll fit fine in that space.
