  1. I'm curious as to why you got your ex bf's name tattooed on you. Not attacking, just curious.
  2. I've heard that the back, along the spine hurts. Though a back tattoo is a future tattoo for me to look forward too.
  3. One of my friends is heavily tattooed, he's got some tattoos that some would consider "bad". They're drawings his children did and he loved them that much he got them tattooed. They're fun and cute :) They do work well as fillers in amongst his other work. They're not poorly executed, but they do look child-like, because well they are.
  4. Hi :) welcome and yes, I'll echo "pics?"
  5. No harm in waiting, it's a commitment and not one to be taken lightly. As all of us here know.
  6. Fair enough :) What about a stylised angel? Maybe suggest it to a tattooist and see what they think?
  7. Hi and welcome :) What about a skull?
  8. It's your personal choice where you get and don't get tattooed. It's all good, don't let anyone else make you feel otherwise. You'll have space left so if in the future you change your mind, you can. If you don't change your mind, it's good also. ---------- As a side note, anyone come across arseholes in regards to your tattoos? I'm single, ex is reason why I'm single. And have given up on the dating scene, since the response in regards to my tattoos have been erm, nasty to put it mildly. Though it is their problem and I look at my tattoos as "an arsehole deterrent" (or something like that). Yes, I'm used to some negative comments, but I'm not talking about the normal negative here. I'm just curious, maybe this isn't the place for such a question? But I think it is, if not I'll remove this bit.
  9. @SeeSea Awwww that's so cute! :) My friend's children love seeing mine, especially the recent ones on my legs :) They just grin and stare at them, same with ones on arms. I agree they are fun :) Mine are visible, when I want them to be, but mostly they're covered.
  10. @SeeSea I'm sure it has happened :) I would be curious as well. Mineral here is slang for a fizzy drink and in the states asking for a soda will get you a fizzy drink. If you ask for it here, you'll get given some bread. Soda bread is a type of bread here and mineral is only slang in Northern Ireland.
  11. @SeeSea okay, remember those words... Fanny pack is slang for what a woman erm, uses during that time of month. "Need to get fanny pack" is slang for "Need some tampax etc" You did give me the green light. It's another thing that always makes me snigger esp when see a show/film from stateside and they say "It's in my fanny pack" makes me snigger every time. I don't know if it's slang for rest of UK/Ireland but it is here.
  12. @SeeSea I didn't know that, learn something new everyday and @HettyKet Yes exactly always makes me snigger when I hear that word on a show/film from the states. I was going to add something, but thought best against lowering the tone lol
  13. My 2d's worth (in no order): I have my tattoos on pinterest, it was one place at the time where I could put the images up for my online friends to see. But, I do know the ones you talk about when you mention this. Some of them I do like, but coming from a crafter's point of view. They would work for sewing or for hand drawn decoupage ideas. In regards to text tattoos, mine were just drawn freehand by the tattooist at the time. Personally, I wouldn't want a "wall of text" on me, but who am I to judge if someone does? Some "walls of text" look amazing, others look shite. Same with imagery, swings and roundabouts. As for reality shows, I've never watched one, until a co-worker told me about on that was shown on E4 called Tattoo After Dark, or something like that. And yes, it was the first time I ever watched one and it will be the last. I'll never get that hour back. In regards to those that said about "Going to get inked" and it irking you. Here it is slang, and accepted slang. Fellow tattooed people come up to me and say "Cool ink, etc" and I comment on others saying the same. Tattooists say it too. Different slang in different parts of the world. For example, if I was to say "I'm off for a fag", here it means "I'm going for a smoke" (I don't smoke anymore). But Stateside the word "fag" means something else, whereas here it's slang for a cigarette. As to the meaning vs no meaning, all my tattoos have meaning. It's just how it worked out, some have double meanings. The ones I tell people if they ask, and the hidden meaning. I've been getting tattooed on and off for 15 years now, it's just me. Nothing against those who get tattooed with no meaning, that's not the point of getting tattooed. Every tattoo doesn't have to have meaning behind it, as I've said. It's just how it's worked out with me. I've always waited at least 3 years before getting mine done, but I have a big back-log of work I want done. Because I couldn't get tattooed for a few years (various reasons). My mind has gone into overdrive, remembering what I had stored away to get done, plus my tattooist asking me to think about filer work hasn't helped matters! But, it's all good. I've had non-tattooed people say that tattoos aren't for them, but they appreciate the art work in it. One of my friends called me a "walking sketchbook" lol I don't think I'm that far yet, but I am working towards it. I think that's everything I wanted to comment on/say. Only had one cuppa today so far, so might have missed something.
  14. Mine know but don't know. They know I'm tattooed, they've seen the ones on tops of my feet and inside ankle but they don't know how heavily tattooed I am. My mum thinks they're disgusting and that "her little girl getting tattooed is such a disappointment to her and..." I'm sure you can imagine the rest. It's less hassle, there's only me and my older brother, he'd be worse than my parents! And yes, I am the black sheep, I'm the odd one out in the family and proud of it :)
  15. 6 hours in one session for me, and that was the Giger piece on my thigh (pics in my intro thread if you want to see). @Swifty Yes, I know that spot you're talking about! Felt like he was tattooing my neck, though mine was 15 years ago. I still remember it, some experiences never leave you eh? :)

    Fitness!

Nice on the boxing, used to do a bit of it myself. Nothing serious, but got out of the habit of it a long time ago, really must get back to it. Though kind of self conscious, stupid I know. My first bf taught me how to box, he was a bare knuckle fighter aside from boxing with gloves. Still remember his face to this day, when he asked me to punch him as hard as I could... He definitely regretted that move *cough* He got a black eye for his trouble, in my defence he did ask me and I was 17 at the time. He was 25, he really should have known better! I'm a southpaw and he hadn't realised it. I loved it :) Great for getting pent-up aggression out. And before you ask how did he not realise I'm a southpaw? I was one of the ones who was forced to write with their right hand at school. So he presumed I was orthodox.
  17. Photos of my tattoo/art books, well the ones I could put my hands on. I will take a wee hoak for the others over the weekend and share pics later. Had some renovation work done here and some books were moved to protect them from dust. I also have a pair of small Japanese masks that a friend got me from their visit in Japan many years ago. Will take a photo of those and share later as well. My favourite books have to be my H R Giger books. I have more than the three shown below. My other tattoo books that were on hand. I do a lot of crafting, hence the tattoo books for children. There is a lot of cross-over for me between tattoo ideas and crafting.
  18. I am perfectly calm, and agree the experience of tattooing isn't about scorecards. If that came across, I apologise, maybe a long day and lack of caffeine had something to do with it. I dunno, let's just be friends and talk about what we love best eh?
  19. @exume that's one place I've yet to get tattooed. Will bare that in mind when that time comes.
  20. @Jynarik yes I understand that and lol you think I have 1 tattoo that is cute! Take a look at my introduction post...I have more than 1
  21. @Jynarik I presume your reply was directed at me? Good of you not to bother not getting my name right (sarcasm). To me when someone says having to wait for a tattoo or the experience "sucks", it means that they don't like it. If it means something else where you are then please tell me. But to reply to my question with that is letting yourself down. As for "Eat Shit" thank you for the offer but I am a vegetarian but feel free to tell me what it tastes like.
  22. Would also be interesting to see which ones have stayed the test of time and which ones have got covered up or lasered.
  23. Fellow knitter here :) Current project is a Weeping Angel (Dr Who) costume for my build a bear lion. Though that has been put on hold as I'll be starting a new costume project for him. Angel Tyrael (from Diablo). The yarn I got for new project is perfect for it :) Will be knitting two yarns together. Also have a long term as and when blanket on the go, knitted in a patchwork style. My mum taught me how to knit over 30 years ago and I taught myself crochet/french knitting. I can't follow patterns so I just make things up as I go along. Some pics of my knitting: Two chunky knitted bracelets: Knitted glasses case: Summer hat with crochet flowers: I have other images but they are on an external hard drive and have to hoak it out first.
  24. Haven't read the article as of yet, but responding to the extract and replies. Just my 2d's worth: You can't lump everyone into one group, yes we are all tattooed and we have a love and appreciation for the art but that is where the similarities end. We're all from different age groups, different cultures and countries. And we all have different reasons for getting tattooed. The person who decides to get something tattooed because they like the design, that reason is no more or less valid than someone who spends years deciding. Likewise it makes no difference if there is a meaning behind the tattoo or not. It always bemuses me how people try to analyse the tattooed. I haven't heard of someone analysing why people buy (for arguments sake), Monet over Picasso. It's a little bug bear of mine. Yes, a lot of us get tattooed to mark an occasion but some people buy new clothes, shoes or a bag so what is the difference? None, in my opinion. Do these people get analysed? No, I'm sure they don't. As for idenity, it can be said that people's clothes and/or make up identify them. Sorry, this reply kind of turned into a rambling/mini rant.
